DEMAND FOR EMPLOYEES’ DIGITAL SKILLS IN THE CONTEXT OF BANKING 4.0
Digitalisation and technical development in the financial service sector have aimed to secure, increase the quality, and satisfy the interests of both customers and financial institutions in the current turbulent era. Together with this situation, there is a need to develop digital employees’ competencies in the financial sector. This paper aims to analyse the topical issue of digitalisation and demand for employees’ digital skills in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic situation based on global secondary data and primary data collected by the authors in the Czech Republic. The main research objective of the paper is to provide a theoretical framework for digitalisation and its drivers in the financial sector, introduce the phenomenon of Banking 4.0 concerning the required competencies, and identify gaps and barriers for faster and more effective development based on the literature review and selected primary and secondary and data analysis. Descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient have been used to fulfil this goal. A semi-structured in-depth interview with three human resources (HR) specialists of a selected Czech bank also has been conducted. The paper brings an overview of the latest research studies in the field of digital competencies in general and specifically in the financial sector. Although the primary data is limited in scope (i.e. ten middle-sized and large financial and insurance companies), it provides a unique view of the situation with digitalisation in financial institutions. It shows current developments, trends and barriers within the example of a bank case study. The paper is motivated by the current situation in the banking sector in connection with digitalisation. It aims to emphasise the growing influence of digital technologies on employees, managers and companies, and the importance of systematically implementing digital skills development approaches on the companies’ strategic level

The Impact of Digitalisation on Human Resources Management
The dissertation aims to determine the intensity of the impact of digitalization on selected areas of human resource management in selected Czech and foreign organizations and to map digital competencies in relation to competency models in organizations with an emphasis on the use of digital competencies in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of employers and employees. Furthermore, the paper focuses on identifying critical areas for organizational learning and development in terms of digital competencies according to the views of employers and employees. The dissertation also aims to identify which competencies are necessary for using digital technologies at work and how these requirements differ across sectors. Concerning these objectives, the dissertation also investigates whether the competence profiles of existing employees are in line with employers' needs about which digital tools are currently used in organisations and how employers support their employees in learning and developing digital competencies. The theoretical part of the dissertation was mainly based on foreign expert sources available in the renowned scientific databases WoS and Scopus. Following the stated objectives and the results of the systematic literature search, five research questions and six hypotheses are formulated and tested using a combination of selected quantitative and qualitative methods. In the empirical part of the dissertation, the primary data for verifying the research questions and hypotheses were obtained from selected Czech and foreign employees and employers by conducting four empirical surveys and four in-depth interviews between 2020 and 2022. On the employers' side, the research involved representatives of companies in the Czech manufacturing, construction and banking and insurance industries. In the final part of the dissertation, the findings are summarised and discussed, providing a new comprehensive and integrated overview of the issues under study from the perspective of employees and employers in an international context
Digitally-powered human resource management: Skills and roles in the digital era
Digitalization in human resource management helps enterprises to modernize HR functions and provides them with a competitive advantage. At the same time, it requires a change in working style and entails a change in the demand for HR competencies. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the phenomenon of digitalization in the literature, explore its current key benefits and risks, and analyse its influence on HR professionals´ competencies and roles. The qualitative research includes an analysis of the secondary data describing the existing level of digital skills based on the reactions of more than 7,000 respondents from six EU member states (Germany, Finland, United Kingdom, Portugal, Sweden, and Slovakia). The primary data analysis concerning HR social media competencies collected in five European countries which participated in the SHARPEN project is also presented here. The current trends in HR professional competencies are also described in this paper. The results obtained show that HR professionals tend to be slightly reluctant to adopt technology. The results also confirmed the importance of digitalization for human resources and the increasing demand for digital skills in recent years
