RF Planning for 3D coverage in Cellular LTE Range Telemetry
Initial analysis and lab experiments have provided positive confirmation of the viability of 4G LTE Cellular Technology for Aeronautical mobile telemetry. COTS LTE equipment is deployed for the test range frequency bands. The high speeds of test articles (TAs) can be addressed with a UE add-on applique’ customized to compensate for the Doppler shifts. The applique has worked effectively with the LTE physical layer. To achieve spectrum efficiency, a multi-cell network is planned. Mobility is managed with native LTE handovers. To address extreme Doppler cases, additional support is provided to mobility management via a central entity that estimates the TA’s trajectory and issues handover commands. Within this framework, we present aspects of an RF planning study that characterizes the dependence of coverage on such design parameters as base station density, antenna orientation, and altitude of the user device. We also quantify the Doppler shifts that can result under the standard strategy of connecting the user device to the strongest cell, and show how, with an alternative, threshold-based strategy, one can achieve a substantial reduction in Doppler shifts at the expense of a loss in user rates.International Foundation for TelemeteringProceedings from the International Telemetering Conference are made available by the International Foundation for Telemetering and the University of Arizona Libraries. Rapid progress towards elimination of lymphatic filariasis in endemic regions of Myanmar as a result of 16 years of anti-filarial activities (2001–2016)
Abstract Background As Myanmar progresses towards lymphatic filariasis (LF) elimination, it is important to know how well the anti-filarial activities have performed. The present study was conducted to study the implementation of the key anti-filarial activities and their impact on key indicators of LF transmission. Methods A secondary analysis of aggregate program data on the anti-filarial activities was conducted in four endemic state/regions of Myanmar receiving at least six mass drug administration (MDA) rounds during 2001–2016. Results MDA coverage has been expanded to cover all the endemic implementation units (IUs), i.e., 45 by 2015 and 6 IUs out of them have already stopped MDA. The reported coverage of MDA ranges from 87 to 100% whereas surveyed coverage ranges from 78 to 100% among the eligible population. The prevalence of microfilaria has significantly declined especially in Magway from 4.7 to 0.2% and Sagaing region from 7.9 to 1.3% during 2001–2016. Around 2.5% of estimated cases of hydrocele were reported to the program during 2009–2014. Conclusion Myanmar has achieved significant success in interrupting LF transmission through several MDA rounds with high coverage. However, morbidity reporting and management, being in its initial phase requires an active surveillance system for identifying and managing people with LF-associated morbidities under the program
Neonatal Sepsis, Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern, and Treatment Outcomes among Neonates Treated in Two Tertiary Care Hospitals of Yangon, Myanmar from 2017 to 2019
Neonatal sepsis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. This study aimed to assess the proportion of culture-confirmed sepsis, bacteriological pathogen profile, culture report turnaround times, antibiotic susceptibility patterns, and treatment outcomes of all with neonatal sepsis admitted in two tertiary care hospitals in Yangon, Myanmar, 2017–2019. This was a cross sectional study utilizing a standardized electronic database and paper-based records. Bacteriological profiles and associated factors were analyzed with descriptive statistics and Poisson Regression. Of those with suspected sepsis, 42% were bacteriologically confirmed and 74% of confirmed sepsis was resistant to at least first-line antibiotics. Neonates with late onset sepsis (LOS) (aPR: 1.2 (95% CI: 1.1–1.4, p = 0.008)) were more likely to have bacteriologically confirmed sepsis (45%) versus early onset sepsis (38%). Gram-negative organisms were most commonly isolated (63%), associated with multidrug-resistant organisms and with a high case-fatality rate (64%). These findings suggest that enhanced national guidance regarding infection control and prevention, antibiotic stewardship, and first-line antibiotic choices need to be provided. The link between LOS with infection and prevention protocols needs to be further explored in this context to decrease sepsis risk, neonatal mortality, and reduce further antimicrobial resistance

LTE-BASED AERONAUTICAL MOBILE TELEMETRY - LAB AND FIELD TEST EXPERIMENTS
Aeronautical mobile telemetry (AMT) based on 3GPP’s LTE standard is implemented in a proof-of-concept system. The solution tackles the very high Doppler shifts expected in flight tests using an appliqué that can be inserted between the transmit/receive ports of the Test Article (TA) and the antennas. This appliqué estimates the Doppler shift and proactively compensates for it on the uplink signal being transmitted by the TA. The overall system has been tested under different operational conditions in a laboratory setup as well as in the field. In the laboratory setup, the desired operating conditions are created with a set of Software-Defined-Radio-based channel emulators coupled with a computer to control their behavior. In order to carry out field tests, an operational LTE network has been created at Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB) with two base stations, backhaul links, and a core network. In this paper, we provide descriptions of both laboratory and field test setups as well as the results of several tests that have been carried out to date.
