DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS' INNOVATIVE COMPETENCES IN THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT: DETERMINANTS AND CAREER PATHS
The aim of the paper is to assess the level and determine the factors of development of students' innovative competences in the academic environment of a selected university in Poland, as well as to identify the main directions of students' planned career paths. This aim is realized on the basis of the research carried out in the framework of the 2nd Edition of the international research project Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) on a sample of 1,597 students of Lodz University of Technology, Poland. There were 3 research questions posed. The results indicate that the level of innovative competences is significantly and positively influenced by the level of entrepreneurship classes and the support on the part of university friends for entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives undertaken. People with the highest level of these competences often have much more definite professional plans. More than half of them plan to implement their innovative ideas in their own companies, established after gaining experience as employees of small, medium-sized and large enterprises

The ordinariness and denaturation of small business : conceptual framework and empirical evidence from the European Union
PURPOSE: The paper aims to constitute and operationalize the conceptual (theoretical)
framework of the ordinariness and denaturation of small businesses, as well as empirically
verify the nature, extent, and consequences of this phenomenon for small business
competitiveness and performance.DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: Based on the literature review, four research gaps have
been identified, and four research hypotheses have been stated. In order to achieve the aim
of the study, survey research was conducted on a random sample of 1741 SMEs from 22
European Union countries.FINDINGS: As part of the study framework, conceptualization, operationalization, and
empirical verification of small business denaturation were done. It is found that ordinary and
denatured SMEs differ significantly in the areas of management, structure, specialization,
autonomy, and scope of market operations.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Entrepreneurs should seek specific configurations of the denatured
features to develop key determinants of market competitiveness and improve business
performance.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The results significantly extend previous studies on SME denaturation
and provide new insights into small business professionalization, competitiveness and
performance management.peer-reviewe
ustawodawczej. Natomiast podmioty gospodarcze dążą do zmaksymalizowania
zysku oraz zminimalizowania nakładów środków i materiałów niezbędnych
w procesie produkcyjnym w nich realizowanym. Ostatnie lata wskazują, że
w sektorze publicznym coraz częściej widoczna jest tendencja do czerpania
wzorców zachowań rynkowych z podmiotów komercyjnych. Międzynarodowe
normy, rozporządzenia i umowy narzucają konieczność modernizacji ich działalności
Jedną z nich jest realizowanie procesu zarządzania ryzykiem, koncepcji
w ramach kontroli zarządczej. Zakłada ona takie działanie, które powoduje
minimalizację skutków ryzyka. Interpretowane jest ono jako dwuwymiarowe
pojęcie, gdyż z jednej strony oznacza zagrożenie i niebezpieczeństwo, a z drugiej
to działanie twórcze, w którym udział winni mieć wszyscy pracownicy. W teorii
do rodzaju aktywności realizowanej w danej organizacji, uwzględniające
jej specyfikę i cele funkcjonowania.
Podstawowym celem
opracowania jest prezentacja wybranych wyzwań związanych z zarządzaniem
ryzykiem występującym we współczesnych organizacjach.
Modern organizations, among which are both public institutions and
economic entities, perform their tasks in order to achieve tangible results. In the
case of public institutions these are indicators obtained by the superior
legislature authorities. In contrast, economic operators seek to maximize profits
and minimize expenditures on resources and materials needed in the production
process. Recent years show that in the public sector is increasingly evident
tendency to derive patterns of market behavior of commercial entities.
International standards, regulations and agreements have a need to modernize
their operations. One of them is the implementation of the risk management
process within the concept of management control. It assumes such action,
which minimizes the effects of risk. It is interpreted as a two-dimensional
concept, because on the one hand it means a threat and danger, on the other hand
gives new possibilities for action. Authorities of units in which the risk
management process is implemented and applied should be aware that this is
a creative activity, in which the participation of all workers is needed. In theory,
risk management brings together four stages of the process4. It consists of:
learning objectives of the organization, identification of risks and their analysis
and evaluation, preparing catalog of measures to minimize the impact of these
risks to the organization, as well as monitoring of risks and their control.
As stated above, the risk management process indicates that risk should be
analyzed and evaluated. It can be used for the various indicators, both financial
and human resources, insurance, or tools adapted to the type of activity which
takes place in the organization, of course taking into account its specific nature
and objectives of the operation.
It should be noted that the activity of public institutions is highly labor
intensive, and their primary resource at a crucial stage affecting the
implementation of the tasks remain human resources. This is an indisputable
source of work potential. Therefore, in this study it was about managing a
specific type of risk associated with those resources, which have been identified
as a human resources risk. There was presented a definition proposed by
A. Lipka, according to which human resources risk management can be defined
as engaging in activities related to human resources in conditions of uncertainty.
Those activities can fail.
This monograph is devoted to the topics presented above. The primary
objective of the study is to present some challenges connected with risk
management occurring in modern organizations. The monograph is divided into
three parts, in which shows a total of 17 chapters
Use of Outsourcing in Creating the Intellectual Capital of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
Abstract: Development of outsourcing provides new possibilities for using this concept in creating the intellectual capital of enterprises. This idea may also be successfully applied by small and medium-sized companies, which gain an opportunity to develop individual elements of the intellectual capital by overcoming the internal limitations of resources. The purpose of the article is to define potential directions of the use of outsourcing in creating the intellectual capital of SMEs. Outsourcing can be used here, among others, as a knowledge development method or a method shaping relationships with suppliers. The important role of the concept is also connected with improvement of the quality of the performed processes and the access to the required resources or technologies in order to implement innovations. This is confirmed in the article by the results of the research carried out on a sample of 177 SMEs, which use outsourcing solutions in their operations
