Optimal strategy for polarization modulation in the LSPE-SWIPE experiment

Context. Cosmic microwave background (CMB) B-mode experiments are required to control systematic effects with an unprecedented level of accuracy. Polarization modulation by a half wave plate (HWP) is a powerful technique able to mitigate a large number of the instrumental systematics. Aims. Our goal is to optimize the polarization modulation strategy of the upcoming LSPE-SWIPE balloon-borne experiment, devoted to the accurate measurement of CMB polarization at large angular scales. Methods. We departed from the nominal LSPE-SWIPE modulation strategy (HWP stepped every 60 s with a telescope scanning at around 12 deg/s) and performed a thorough investigation of a wide range of possible HWP schemes (either in stepped or continuously spinning mode and at different azimuth telescope scan-speeds) in the frequency, map and angular power spectrum domain. In addition, we probed the effect of high-pass and band-pass filters of the data stream and explored the HWP response in the minimal case of one detector for one operation day (critical for the single-detector calibration process). We finally tested the modulation performance against typical HWP-induced systematics. Results. Our analysis shows that some stepped HWP schemes, either slowly rotating or combined with slow telescope modulations, represent poor choices. Moreover, our results point out that the nominal configuration may not be the most convenient choice. While a large class of spinning designs provides comparable results in terms of pixel angle coverage, map-making residuals and BB power spectrum standard deviations with respect to the nominal strategy, we find that some specific configurations (e.g., a rapidly spinning HWP with a slow gondola modulation) allow a more efficient polarization recovery in more general real-case situations. Conclusions. Although our simulations are specific to the LSPE-SWIPE mission, the general outcomes of our analysis can be easily generalized to other CMB polarization experiments

: Obesity during childhood may be caused due to eating beyond need, lack of physical activity, and because of the excessive influence of food advertising. Today's lifestyle can also lead to obesity which is a trend likely to consume fast food or modern fast food such as burgers, pizza, fries Frenc peneletian aims to determine the relationship of fast food consumption with the incidence of obesity in primary school children in the city of Manado by using analytic survey research methods by using a cross sectional design (cross-sectional), using a test using the chi-square test (x2), at the 95% significance level (α 0,05). The results there is a relationship between fast food consumption relationship with the incidence of obesity in primary school children in the city of Manado with p = 0.024 conclusion Obesity prevalence in primary school children in the city of Manado in 2013 were 44 males (32.4%) and 24 women people (17.6%) fast food energy intake in children> average and 33.8% are obese and not obese at 23.5% There is a relationship between fast food consumption with the incidence of obesity in primary school children in the city of Manado p value = 0.024 suggestion Fast food is the cause of childhood obesity in this study should be a concern for policy makers to pay more attention to eating habits of children. The parents should be limiting children consume excessive amounts of snack foods or foods high in calories but low in fiber (fast food and junk food), and teaches healthy life and to get children exercising

: Defines adolescents as individuals who are going through a transition period gradually achieve sexual maturity, life changes of children into adulthood and economic circumstances change from dependency to self-relative (Sarwono, 2006). Based on the projected population of Indonesia in 2000-2005, the number of adolescents aged 10-24 years about 63 million or 26.8% of the total Indonesian population where as many as 233 million of the mare students (BKKBN 2010). This study aims to reveal the knowledge a student from the University of Sam Ratulangi Manado of Timika on Reproductive Health. This research is a descriptive study with cross-sectional research methods. Sample of this research are 69 respondents. The results show that knowledge most of the respondent shave good knowledge about reproductive health (94.20%), good attitude about reproductive health (65.21%), and the action of good (65.21%). Based on the result above, Suggestions for the government or related organizations should establish rules with respect to the sexual behavior of students to improve the ethics, morality so that students are able to change the knowledge, attitude sand courses of action for the better

: Malaria is a serious disease that is transmitted through the bite of anopheles mosquitoes. This disease is contagious disease that attacks all age groups that is infants, children, and adults. Malaria is transmitted from person to person Anopheles mosquitoes bringing malaria parasite or plasmodium. Environmental sanitation is efforts that conducted by individuals, communities, or the State to improve and prevent the happening health problems caused of external environmental factors. The purpose of this study to determine the relationship environmental sanitation with the incidence of malaria. This research was carried out with cross sectional method. The sample: 110 respondents drawn randomly. The independent variable in this study is environmental sanitation and dependent variable is malaria. And then, the data collected was processed with the help of computer program SPSS version 19 and analyzed with chi square test (x2) at 95% significance level (α0,05). The result: showed that the results of the study on 110 respondents from 64 people who are poor environmental sanitation there were 7 people that positive malaria and 57 people is negative. Meanwhile from 46 people that good environmental consists of 2 people positive malaria and 44 people is negative. The conclusion: from these data it was found that the results showed there was no relationship environmental sanitation with the incidence of malaria which the results obtained p = 0,21

Robot swarm democracy: the importance of informed individuals against zealots

Abstract: In this paper we study a generalized case of best-of-n model, which considers three kind of agents: zealots, individuals who remain stubborn and do not change their opinion; informed agents, individuals that can change their opinion, are able to assess the quality of the different options; and uninformed agents, individuals that can change their opinion but are not able to assess the quality of the different opinions. We study the consensus in different regimes: we vary the quality of the options, the percentage of zealots and the percentage of informed versus uninformed agents. We also consider two decision mechanisms: the voter and majority rule. We study this problem using numerical simulations and mathematical models, and we validate our findings on physical kilobot experiments. We find that (1) if the number of zealots for the lowest quality option is not too high, the decision-making process is driven toward the highest quality option; (2) this effect can be improved increasing the number of informed agents that can counteract the effect of adverse zealots; (3) when the two options have very similar qualities, in order to keep high consensus to the best quality it is necessary to have higher proportions of informed agents

The study is aimed at investigating the effectiveness of two smartphone applications for surveying speeds of moving objects. These applications are used for urban speed measurements. Once the most reliable application was selected among the available ones, its outputs were calibrated by using the speed from the GPS system mounted on the test vehicle as a benchmark. Thereafter, an experimental test was conducted for monitoring the influence of a raised crossing on the vehicle speeds in the urban environment, by using the selected smartphone application

: Chronic kidney disease is a disease that causes the function of kidney organs to decrease until it is finally unable to does its function properly. Life quality is a conceptual model that aims to describe the client's perspective with a variety of terms. Therefore, the perspective of this life quality will be different among sick and healthy peoples. The purpose of this study was to find out the life quality of patients with chronic kidney disease with comorbid factors of diabetes mellitus and hypertension at Hemodialysis room of RSUP. Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado. The method used in this research is the analytic observational with cross sectional design. Sampling technique in this research is saturated sampling with 60 amount of sample. Data processing using computer program by using chi-square test with significance level 95% (α = 0,05). The result showed that the number of respondents of chronic kidney disease with comorbid hypertension have good life quality as many as 29 respondents (96,7%) and who have poor life quality as much as 1 respondent (3,3%). Whereas for chronic kidney disease patients with comorbid diabetes mellitus who have good life quality as many as 13 respondents (43.4%) and who have poor life quality as much as 17 respondents (56.7%) and obtained p value = 0.000. This conclusion shows a comparison of life quality between patients with chronic kidney disease with comorbid hypertension and diabetes mellitus
