    Mechanical Properties of Plasticized Cellulose Ester Films at Room and High Temperatures

    Cellulose ester is a biomass-derived material and exhibits excellent heat resistance and high transparency, properties required for optical film application. Recently, attention has been paid to cellulose esters due to their potential application as a functional film. Some cellulose esters such as cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) show extraordinary dispersion of orientation birefringence, in which the birefringence increases with increasing wavelength, a property required as a retardation film. The similar behaviour is also observed for cellulose triacetate (CTA) plasticized with tricresyl phosphate (TCP). In this study, the mechanical properties of pure and plasticized CAP and CTA at room and high temperatures are investigated to relate with their birefringence property. At room temperature, CTA film shows a higher brittleness than CAP film. At 15 K above their respective Tg, pure CAP and CTA can be stretched to draw ratio of 5.0 and 2.0, respectively. However, the addition of TCP slightly decreases the stretchability in both CAP and CTA to draw ratio of 4.5 and 1.5, respectively. The stretchability of both pure and plasticized CAP and CTA is found to increase with the increase of stretching temperature, which is useful to increase the value of orientation birefringence as it increases with draw ratio. However, birefringence value becomes lower at higher temperature. Thus, to obtain an optimum value of orientation birefringence, a balance between the draw ratio and stretching temperature has to be considered

    Progress of statistical modelling of thermal transport of fusion plasmas based on (2–4 a) a transport analysis database is described. Statistically induced ion and electron thermal diffusivities are checked with an actual discharge which had not been included in the database. Usefulness of this statistical approach is explained in terms of (1) extracting important parameters through the application of information criterion, and (2) making possible for discussing exponents of regression expression and then implying the thermal transport property. The statistical approach reported in this paper could provide a new insight for thermal transport modelling for fusion plasmas, complementing conventional global scalings on the energy confinement time

    Genuine savings with adjustment costs

    In this paper, we consider how genuine savings would be altered if the adjustment costs of capitals are taken into account in the stylized capitalresource model. It is shown that, in order to derive the modified genuine savings, through shadow prices, the original genuine savings have to be divided by the marginal adjustment costs of the capital in question. This implies that economies with volatile savings harbor hidden costs even if they are judged as sustainable by conventional genuine savings indicators

    Effect of Oxygen Impurities on Positronium Formation in Voids of Vanadium

    To clarify the effect of oxygen impurities on positronium (Ps) formed in irradiation-induced voids, measurements of the angular correlation of two photon annihilation radiation (ACAR) have been done on vanadium samples doped with oxygen impurities and subsequently irradiated with fast neutrons of doses up to 5.5x10^cm^ at about 400℃ in the Japan Materials Testing Reactor (JMTR). It has been shown that slight contamination of voids with oxygen impurity atoms, presumably submonolayer adsorption on the void surface, causes Ps formation. On the other hand, the considerable contamination leads suppression of Ps formation. Energy loss process of Ps in voids is found to be also influenced by the surface contamination

    Sample of Arenga Pinnata (AP) fibres, ropes and nets were prepared from AP ropes using traditional tools. The ropes and nets were used as agricultural material such as vertical farming of vines (passion fruit, grape, bitter gourd, and melon) in Gorontalo and Japan. The combination of nets and vines acts as green curtain (GC) which. Could mitigate the thermal energy in outdoor as well as indoor buildings. and tested with the deformation rate of up to the point of rupture. To avoid the failure of ropes and nets on supporting the weight of the vines, the Universal Testing Machine Model WDW-50 were used to determine the ultimate tensile forces.     Architecture Evaluation Based on the Datapath Structure and Parallel Constraint

    Abstract| This paper presents a novel way o f e v aluating architecture of embedded custom DSPs which helps designers optimizing the datapath conguration and the instruction set. Given a datapath structure, it evaluates the performance in terms of an estimated number of steps to execute the target program on the datapath. A concept of \parallel constraint" is newly introduced, which enables evaluation of the impact of instruction format design on the performance without explicitly specifying the instruction format. The number of execution steps is estimated by a combination of static analysis and dynamic analysis. It enables fast and precise estimation of actual performance in the early design stage. We show some experimental results on an actual signal processor to demonstrate the accuracy of estimation and the usefulness of this method in architecture design

    Implementation of a new specific program for training curators at Hiroshima University

    博物館法施行規則の改正に伴い,2012年4月から学芸員資格取得のために修得すべき科目が大幅に変更となった。学芸員資格取得の歴史においてはきわめて大きな変更である。本学では,これに対応するため,各学部の学芸員資格取得特定プログラムを統合し,全学の学生を対象とする新課程に移行した。本稿では,本学が新たに採用した4学期制(ターム制)を含め,今回の変更が受講や資格取得にどのような影響を及ぼしたのか,統計データの分析を通じて考察した。新課程移行の前後で,プログラム登録者数,資格取得者数は大幅に減少し,取得率も大きく低下した。こうした現象は特定の学部,分野の変化に基づくものではなく,旧課程においてプログラム登録の主体となってきた全ての学部に共通する。分析を通じて,大幅な必要単位数の増加,全学を対象としたプログラムへの変更,2学期制から4学期制(ターム制)への変更など,複数の要因が関連して,各学部における専門の修得と学芸員資格取得を両立させることが困難な状況が生じていることが推定された。As a result of the revision of Museum Law Enforcement Rules, the subjects that must be completed to acquire the curator qualification have changed significantly since April 2012, which constitutes a major change in the history of this qualification. To cope with this change, we integrated the curator qualification specific programs of each faculty into a new course for students of all universities. In this paper, through statistical data analysis, we examined the impact of this change on attendance trends, including the term system newly adopted by Hiroshima University. Before and after the transition to the new course, the number of program registrants and qualifications greatly decreased, and the acquisition rate has also declined significantly. These phenomena were not based on changes in specific faculties or fields, but are common to all faculties subject to program registration during the old course. Through this analysis, we presumed that several factors, such as the great increase in the required number of credits, the change to the program for the whole school, and the change from a two-semester system to the four-semester system, were all interrelated to each other, which make it difficult to achieve both specialized and curator qualifications.本稿は,2018年6月22日に香川大学で開催された第13回日本博物科学会で口頭発表した藤野次史・青木孝夫・清水則雄・菅村 亨・本多博之・山口富美夫・山崎博史・吉田将之「広島大学における新課程実施後の学芸員資格取得状況について」を元に,新たなデータを加えて考察したものである
