    Odonata New to the Wisconsin State List

    The only extensive paper dealing primarily with the Odonata of Wisconsin is that of Muttkowski (19081, in which he included not only 78 species taken but 30 to be expected in the state. Subsequent records and corrections leave a total of 103 species for which definite evidence has been published (Ries, 1967:113). The following account of new records of Anisoptera and Zygoptera taken during five seasons of collecting in the northern part of Wisconsin confirms the presence of four of the expected species mentioned by Muttkowski, and includes eleven others, making a total of 15 additions to the state list. As 12 of these species also occur in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Hebard, 1910; Combs, 1917; Byers, 1927: and Kormondy, 1958) few of the records are surprising. Rather, they are the result of the first intensive collecting in the area. Most of them extend the known range of the species concerned. some to a considerable degree. Unless otherwise specified, all these new records are from near Sayner in Vilas County, an area in which I have collected 73 species. In addition to specimens listed below, several males of most of the species were sent to Dr. Robert W. Cruden, now at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, for chromosome counts (Cruden, 1968) ; these remain in his possession

    In a sharp departure from earlier trends, the price of U.S. imports from China rose 6 percent in the 2006-08 period. To explore the forces behind this surprising increase, the authors create a new import index that uses highly disaggregated data to track price developments in different product types. The index reveals that the largest price increases were concentrated in industrial supplies - goods that rely heavily on commodity inputs.     20 Years of Inspiring, Empowering, and Advancing Women! Over the last two decades, we have witnessed tremendous local, national, and international changes. The world is more accessible as a result of technology and the global economy. Terrorism and the resulting war on terror are now part of our world. We have had four presidents elected to office, and our country rebounded from an economic downturn with the stock market now reaching record highs. During the past 20 years, Bryant has experienced transformational changes in its academic curriculum, its physical appearance, the number of facilities on campus, and in its athletic and cultural programs. Bryant changed from a college to a university, with a College of Business, a College of Arts and Sciences, and a School of Health Sciences. The U.S.-China Institute and Confucius Institute were established in Smithfield, while a new Bryant campus was founded in Zhuhai, China. As a nation, we still struggle to achieve wage parity. When the Women’s Summit began in 1997, women were paid 75 cents for every dollar earned by a man. Since then, the overall ratio has climbed by only four cents. There is some encouraging news, according to an article by Sheryl Sandberg in The Wall Street Journal: “Women are now negotiating for raises and promotions as often as their male peers – defying the conventional wisdom that women don’t ask.“ Sandberg writes that women who ask for a promotion are more likely to get one than women who don’t, but are still less likely than men to be promoted. Today, a higher percentage of women can be found in legal, medical, and veterinary professions. In a Wall Street Journal article by Joann S. Lublin, 19 percent of C-suite executives are female – a slight increase from 17 percent in 2015, according to an analysis by LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Co. “The more women who are in positions of power visibly, the better it is for women lower in the organization,” says Robin Ely, a Harvard Business School professor and gender researcher. And companies with higher proportions of women in upper management achieve higher profits, as noted in a recent study of 21,980 firms in 91 countries by the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Another big change is that 71 percent of mothers now work outside of the home. A 2013 Pew Research study reveals that four out of every 10 mothers with children under the age of 18 are the breadwinners in their families. All women deserve equal pay for equal work, and mothers need to be supported with child care as they strive to achieve work-life balance that includes their own mental and physical health. When the breadwinner/caregiver isn’t healthy, the whole family feels the effects. For all of us, finding balance continues to be an ongoing process. We keep moving forward, but sometimes we need to tap the brakes to reassess our direction and reevaluate our situation.     Through an extensive review of the literature, our objective will be to clarify the current concept that exists about the pathogenesis of peri-implantitis, as well as the implications that bacteria may have on it. To date, different longitudinal and cross-sectional studies have identified some of the risk factors or risk indicators of peri-implantitis. Previous history of periodontal disease, diabetes, genetic load, poor oral hygiene, tobacco, alcohol consumption, absence of keratinized gingiva and the surface of the implants are some of the factors that have been analyzed in detail in the literature.     The Relation Between Optimism And Job Performance: An Applied Setting

    Research on cognitive ability measures consistently concludes that they are predictive of employee performance. While accounting for only about 9% of the variance in performance, however, cognitive ability measures are not sufficient. Alternative measures, such as measures of personality constructs, must be included to fully predict employee performance. The research on personality measures suggests that they are marginally predictive of employee performance. Research also suggests that predicative accuracy of personality measures can be enhanced when the measure is specific to the situation (i.e., stress measure are more predictive of performance in high stress situations compared to moderate or low stress situations). The current study compares a specific measure of a personality construct, the Seligman Attributional Style Questionnaire (a measure of optimism), with a broad, general measure of personality, the Gordon Personal Profile-Inventory, comparing jobs specifically requiring higher levels of optimism versus jobs that do not require high levels of optimism. The results suggest that the use of the SASQ under situationally specific conditions does not result in greater predictive accuracy that the more generic GPPI. In addition, neither measure resulted in significant correlations with employee performance. The study generally confirmed the literature on the limited utility of personality measures in predicting performance. It also raised questions about how situational specificity is operationized
