On bilateral agreements: just a matter of matching

This paper aims at assessing the importance of the initial technological endowments when firms decide to establish a technological agreement. We propose a Bertrand duopoly model where firms evaluate the advantages they can get from the agreement according to its length. Allowing them to exploit a learning process, we depict a strict connection between the starting point and the final result. Moreover, as far as learning is evaluated as an iterative process, the set of initial conditions that lead to successful ventures switches from a continuum of values to a Cantor set.Bertrand competition, Duopoly, Learning, Firm agreements

International audienceDesign for diversity: A new catalytic system based on PEG-3400 and a metal salt (Pt or Au) was designed to efficiently perform a cycloisomerization reaction under microwave irradiation, which gave diverse heterocycles in good to excellent yields, after a precipitation/filtration procedure (see scheme)

Trade Openness and Economic Growth: A Panel Cointegration and Causality Analysis for the Newest EU Countries

    No full text
This paper explores the relationship between trade openness and economic growth using data for the thirteen newest European Union members. The study covers the period of 1995–2013. We have applied panel cointegration and causality approaches to examine the long-run and the causal relationship between the variables. Empirical results confirm the presence of a cointegrating vector between trade openness and economic growth, in this group of the thirteen countries. An error correction model (ECM), followed by the two steps of Engle and Granger was used to capture the short and long-run dynamics. The impact of economic growth and trade openness is found to be positive. Finally, the panel Granger causality analysis reveals a unidirectional causal relationship running from trade openness to economic growth, both in the short and in the long-ru

Electrophilic Iodo-Mediated Cyclization in PEG under Microwave Irradiation: Easy Access to Highly Functionalized Furans and Pyrroles

    No full text
International audienceThe rapid and facile synthesis of highly substituted β-iodofurans and β-iodopyrroles is reported using a mixture of molecular iodine and a base in solid PEG 3400 as alternative, eco-friendly and nontoxic solvent under microwave irradiation, in a very short time. The heterocycles are efficiently recovered in good yields by a simple workup procedure, avoiding chromatographic purification

Preparation of enantioenriched iodinated pyrrolinones by iodocyclization of α-amino-ynones

International audienceThe unprecedented electrophilic iodo-mediated cyclization of α-amino-ynones afforded enantiomerically enriched β-iodopyrrolin-4-ones in excellent yields under mild conditions. The starting substituted α-amino-ynones were obtained from the chiral pool by selective mono-addition of an organolithium to optically pure N-protected carboxyanhydrides of amino acids (UNCAs)
