Attraverso la ricostruzione della messa all’indice dei documenti originali presenti nell’ACDF – circa trentacinque documenti, in parte pubblicati in Appendice all’articolo, in parte soltanto utilizzati nel testo – l’articolo ricostruisce attraverso la vicenda della condanna del solo De Augmentis Scientiarum, e non del Novum Organum, che non viene condannato – sia il meccanismo del procedimento censorio, sia, attraverso le lettere pervenute alla Congregazione dei Libri Proibiti – Cardinali, Prefetti, personaggi vari della Roma dell’epoca – uno spaccato di storia delle idee e di vita culturale, vista e ricostruita attraverso le differenti posizioni di personaggi, come ad esempio il Cardinale Azzolini e la Regina Cristina, nei confronti della diffusione della filosofia moderna, nella Roma della Seconda metà del Seicento. The article reconstructs and publishes the documents concerning the whole story of the condemnation and of the insertion in the Index Librorum Prohibitorum of Francis Bacon's De augmentis scientiarum occurred April 3, 1669, on the basis of Matteo Magnani's denunciatio. It has an appendix with selected documents chosen in a list of thirty important documents found in and taken from the archives of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (formerly the Holy Office). They can be divided in two groups: original documents of three censorships (i.e., a report by external advisors uncharged by the Congregation of Index: the Dominican Giulio Maria Bianchi, the Franciscan Tommaso Noce and the Irish Oliver Plunket) already published in Latin and now translated into English; and some letters in the original Italian version with an English translation published here for the first time

Complication of Gastric Cancer Surgery: A Single Centre Experience

Background/aim: Gastric cancer surgery is still characterised by high morbidity and mortality. However, in 2018 an online platform, GASTRODATA has been proposed in Europe to standardize the recording of gastric surgery complications. The aim of the study was to present a single center experience regarding incidence and grading of acute postoperative complications in a population of patients treated surgically for gastric cancer on the basis of the gastrodata online platform. Patients and methods: The present study was a single center, observational, retrospective trial held in the General Surgery Unit of the Sant'Andrea Hospital of Rome. The study included 181 consecutive patients who underwent gastric surgical resection for cancer from May 2004 to December 2020 with curative R0 purpose. Results: Thirty-three percent of patients reported at least one complication, while seventeen percent of the whole population reported a complication classified as at least grade 3 on the Clavien Dindo Classification. The most frequent complications were disorders of the respiratory system (13.3%), followed by bleeding (7.6%) and wound infections (6.2%). Deaths accounted for 3.7% of the population. Conclusion: A list of defined complications of gastrectomy, if systematically adopted in the Literature, could lead to a reduction in the wide variation of proposals for treatment and assessment. Objectively evaluating the impact of complications on outcomes can lead to quality improvement project proposals

It is a great honor to present one of the proceedings of the Institut In- ternational de Philosophie in the \uablessico Intellettuale Europeo\ubb series. Both have longstanding traditions. the Institut International de Philosophie (IIP) was founded during the momentous ann\ue9e Descartes of 1937 and its meet- ings have taken place on a yearly basis (with the exception of 1939 to 1946 because of World War two). Its first president was l\ue9on Robin. Past pres- idents during the last four decades were Georg Henrik von Wright, Max Black, Paul Ricoeur, Jerzy Pelc, David Pears, Ruth Barcan Marcus, Evan- dro agazzi, tomonobu Imamichi, Jaakko Hintikka, anne Fagot-largeault, Hans lenk, tom\ue1s Calvo Mart\uednez and Enrico Berti. Ioanna Ku\ue7uradi is currently the president and Bernard Bourgeois the secretary general. to date, its membership lists 102 philosophers from forty-four countries. Its several committees are concerned with international communication and coopera- tion in philosophy from the point of view of reason and tolerance. a con- stant focus is placed on the mutual opening of philosophical cultures, tra- ditions and approaches.1 the Istituto per il lessico Intellettuale Europeo of the National Research Council of Italy (lIE and since 2001 IlIESI) was founded in 1964 and has been hosting its own international meetings every three years. We are count- ing fifty-five Entretiens de l\u2019Institut International de Philosophie and fifteen Colloqui Internazionali del Lessico Intellettuale Europeo. the IlIESI is ded- icated to the history of cultural and scientific terminology. It focuses on the phenomenon of cultural migration, which accompanies the whole history of civilizations while involving continuous relations and reciprocal exchanges among diverse cultures, and thus translations (in their widest sense) of texts and modules from one to another context, be it linguistic, economic, politi- cal, or cultural. Its researchers investigate several epochs under the assump- tion that at the root of the history of philosophy and of the sciences and more generally of the history of ideas lie textual corpora that have been de- veloped in the context of each discipline over the centuries.2 today, the \uablessico Intellettuale Europeo\ubb series, which was started in 1967, boasts 124 volumes. and we find it extremely inspiring that volume 125 of the series hosts the sixty-third IIP meeting, which is its sixth meeting in Italy, after Venice in 1958 (in coincidence with the twelfth World Con- gress of Philosophy), l\u2019aquila in 1964, Bellagio in 1982, Palermo in 1985 and Santa Margherita/Genova in 1989. all presentations but one that were given at the Entretiens de Rome of the Institut International de Philosophie on 24-28 September 2014 have found their way to this volume. appropriate funding was provided by the Italian Ministry for Education, university and Research within the PRIN2012 \u201cuniversalism and its limits\u201d, unit coordinator Riccardo Pozzo and national coordinator loris Sturlese. the four papers contributed by Giovanni Pugli- si, Hans Poser, Evandro agazzi and Enrico Berti were read at the meeting of the Committee on the History of Philosophy of the F\ue9d\ue9ration Interna- tionale des Soci\ue9t\ue9s de Philosophie (FISP) dedicated to the textual basis of the intercultural history of philosophy \u2013 Migrating Alphabets, which took place in Rome in the aula Marconi at the main seat of the National Re- search Council of Italy on 11 January 2011

Clinical assessment instruments validated for nursing practice in the Italian context: a systematic review of the literature

Aims. With the aim to identify the instruments validated for Italian nursing practice, a systematic review of the literature was undertaken.Results. A total of 101 instruments emerged. The majority (89; 88.1%) were developed in other countries; the remaining (14; 13.9%) were developed and validated in the Ital-ian context. The instruments were developed to measure patient’s problems (63/101; 62.4%), outcomes (27/101; 26.7%), risks (4/101; 4%) and others issues (7/101; 6.9%). The majority of participants involved in the validation processes were younger adults (49; 48.5%), older adults (40; 39.5%), children (4; 4%), adolescents (3; 3%), and children/adolescents (1; 1%). The instruments were structured primarily in the form of questionnaires (61; 60.4%), as a grid for direct observation (27; 26.7%) or in other forms (12; 11.9%). Among the 101 instruments emerged, there were 1 to 7 validation measures documented with on average 3.2 (95% CI 2.86-3.54) for each instrument.Conclusions. Developing validation studies giving priority to those instruments widely adopted in the clinical nursing practice is recommended.

On arrival to a new country, migrants usually face language barriers, cultural barriers, discrimination, and other sources of unjust contextual conditions that lower their chances of a successful life (Handy and Greenspan, Nonprofit Volunt Sect Q 38:956–982, 2009). This scenario compromises their levels of well-being and supports a tendency toward social fragmentation in places of settlement (Garcia-Ramirez et al., Am J Community Psychol 47(1–2), 86–97, 2011). In response to this situation, migrants' engagement in civic life has been identified as an important element for developing both individual well-being and cohesive communities (Gilster, J Community Psychol 40(7), 769–784, 2012) (Stoll and Wong, Int Migr Rev 41(4), 880–908, 2007). Using a qualitative study, the present work explores the effects of activism on youth of sub-Saharan African origin, of the first and second generations, who are active in national and ethnic associations. The work aims to explore (1) through narratives the meaning that integration has for young migrants; (2) how integrated they feel; and (3) the role of the association, both national and ethnic, in the perception of integration of these young people
