Factors Influencing Individual Performance in an Indonesian Government Office

Reformation in Indonesian government offices leads to many substantial changes, and demands improved job performances while arguably loading employees with more work. This research aims to understand factors that potentially influence job performance in Indonesian government offices that carries on such reformation. Using adapted scales from previous studies, this research investigates the role of workload, responsibility for others (level of responsibility to care for other people) and need for achievement on employee’s performance.  A survey to all full-time workers in an Indonesian government office is conducted. Contrary to expectation, workload does not influence employee’s performance. Instead, regression analysis demonstrates that, employee’s need for achievement and responsibility for others are significant factors affecting individual performance. These results are important because they highlight the significance of need for achievement for the success of reformation in this office, and by extension for reformation in Indonesia. The results are also interesting because this is the first study that points out to the role of responsibility for others in influencing individual performance in Indonesia which is characterized by collectivistic culture. This paper discusses the contributions of these results for theory and practice. &nbsp

This study was conducted at PT . Priatama Riau Gardens Rupat with the aim of analyzing the influence of the work environment variables and employee safety & health ( k3 ) , the job satisfaction of employees at PT . Riau Priatama Rupat Gardens . Population is staying employees to 116 people. Sampling was conducted using census or sample saturated 54 people made as a sample of respondents , the analysis method used is descriptive quantitative methods , data analysis carried out simultaneously and partial ( multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS version 19.0 ) . From the results of simultaneous testing (Test F), shows that all the independent variables studied had a significant effect on employee job satisfaction variables . Partial regression test (t test ) showed that the variables lingkungankerja (X1)and employee safety & health ( X2) is more significant effect on job satisfaction of employees(Y) at PT. Priatama RiauKebun Rupat. The magnitude of the effect caused by these three variables together against the dependent variable of this means that the variable work environment and occupational health & safety of employees (k3), jointly influencing employee satisfaction with variable percentage of. While , affected by other factors that did not participate in this study. Thus, it can be concluded that the work environment variables and employee safety & health ( k3 ) simultaneously and partially positive and significant effect on job satisfaction of employees at PT. Priatama RiauKebun Rupat . In addition, variable employee safety and health is also a variable that has more influence on employee job satisfaction when compared with variable work environment. Keywords: Work Environment, Safety & Health and employee job satisfaction of emplo

This research uses quantitative research. The data used in this study are secondary data with a period of 5 years. The data collection method uses literature study method. Documents that are the main source of data can be seen at the Central Bureau of Statistics of each Regency / City in Central Kalimantan. The data analysis used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the DAU and DAK do not have a significant effect on economic growth, while PAD and capital expenditures have a significant effect on economic growth. The results of this study also show the importance of the role of local governments in managing and utilizing the realization of regional revenues to increase public productivity, for example the provision of equitable infrastructure both in villages and in citie

Transformation of Gated Community in the Last Three Decades in Medan City, Indonesia

The growth and development of Gated Community are happening around the world with no exception in Indonesia. The development happened because of rapid urban growth caused by urbanization. The important results from studying the transformation of gated community are the trend and factors that cause the change. The purpose of this research is to predict, prepare and control the growth of formal urban housing in the future. Factors led to the emergence and growing rapidly of a gated community in Southeast Asia is a combination of socio-economic background, culture, and security. Research is conducted by two approaches. Firstly, are the external aspects such as regulation of formal housing, political condition, and real estate market condition. Secondly, are the internal issues such as the concept of settlement planning and the characteristics of the occupants. This study was conducted in three residential development in the city of Medan which represent in the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's, namely Taman Setia Budi Indah, Graha Bumi Asri and Graha Metropolitan. The research's result shows the factors of changes occur in the privatization of public space, exclusivity and the need for security. The indirect phenomenon of gated community growth is a reflection of a modern city life's critique, because of the safety reduced. If these are not anticipated soon, it will form the structure of fragmented urban space with the privatization of public space legall

A study of slow light in 1D photonic crystals

    Get PDF
Slow light (SL) states corresponding to wavelength regions near the bandgap edge of grating structure are known to show strong field enhancement. Such states may be excited efficiently by well-optimised adiabatic transitions in such structures, e.g., by slowly turning on the modulation depth. To study adiabatic excitations, a detailed research in 1D is performed to obtain insight into the relation between the device parameters and properties like enhancement and modal reflection. The results enable the design of an adiabatic device for efficient excitation of SL states in 1D. In addition of that, the effects of small wavelength variations as well as that of small fluctuations in the modulation depth of the grating have been investigated

Taxonomic Study of Pandanus (Pandanaceae) in Swamp Area, Aceh Singkil

Taxonomic study on Pandanus (Pandanaceae) in swamp area, Singkil had been conducted from November 2012 until June 2013. Based on morphological characters, 5 species of Pandanus have been identified in the area as Pandanus atrocarpus, Pandanus labyrinthicus, Pandanus militaris, Pandanus odoratissimus and Pandanus tectorius. The morphology and life cycle of species were categorized into two types, and they are medium arborescent pandan (Pandanus labyrinthicus and Pandanus militaris) and large arborescent pandan (Pandanus atrocarpus, Pandanus odoratissimus and Pandanus tectorius). Anatomical characters of Pandanus such as stomata (type, size, papilla) and epidermal cells supported the morphological features
