« La dame Comptabilité », une analogie au service de la vulgarisation comptable : de la circulation sanguine à la santé de l'entreprise

Comment rendre accessible à un public non formé les documents comptables et de gestion ? Cet article analyse un exemple de vulgarisation, datant de 1933, qui repose sur une analogie avec la circulation sanguine. Pour ce faire, le travail de recherche a consisté à établir un état des connaissances comptables diffusées entre 1900 et 1933 pour mettre en perspective le document étudié. Si l'auteur prend des libertés avec l'anatomie, l'analogie apparaît pertinente puisqu'elle permet de faire le lien avec la notion de santé de l'entreprise : santé de l'entreprise sur laquelle jouent les évènements et les choix des dirigeants, apparence de santé grâce à des manipulations comptables. International audienceThe information system function has been through major changes. It is both closely associated with the goods and services proposed by organizations and is subject to increased subcontracting. Have management control practices also evolved? A review of both professional and scientific literature shows the interest of I.S. professionals for management control and the relative disinterest of academics for this subject. By participating in the tradition of studies on the link between structure-strategy and tools we propose an analytical framework to confront discourse analysis on management control practices in the I.S. function to the effective use of tools. The aim is to identify different configurations and their evolution over the past ten years.La fonction système d'information a connu d'importantes évolutions. Elle est à la fois très associée aux produits et services proposés par les organisations et fait l'objet d'une sous-traitance accrue. Reste à savoir si le contrôle de gestion de cette fonction est resté le même. Une revue de littérature professionnelle et scientifique témoigne de l'intérêt des professionnels du SI pour le contrôle de gestion et une absence d'intérêt relatif pour ce sujet sur le plan scientifique. En nous inscrivant dans la lignée des études sur les liens entre stratégie, structure et outils nous proposons un cadre d'analyse pour confronter les discours sur le contrôle de gestion dans la fonction S.I. à l'utilisation effective des outils. 'Lady Accounting', an analogy using blood circulation to popularise an accounting view of the health of the firm

This paper examines the attempt by Deuwez in 1933 to explain accounting concepts and ideas to non specialists through the analogy of the process of blood circulation within human beings. It comprises two main sections. The first section comprises two reviews: first, of accounting ideas of the period 1900-33 and developments therein; and, second, an examination of contemporary knowledge of blood circulation and the operation of key human organs in relation thereto. Transferring methods to teach business administration from one cultural context to another

What happens when a teaching method is transferred from one cultural context to another? In this article we investigate this question by looking at how Computer Based Simulations (CBS) were transposed from a French context to an Egyptian one. In this article we demonstrate, through the case of Egypt, how culture and the characteristics of the school system impact learning abilities. We describe what happens when Egyptian students are confronted with learning modes they have not encountered prior to University, in the context of an Egyptian-French dual-degree programme in business administration and business informatics. We show that the transfer of CBS as a teaching method revealed cultural differences between French and Egyptian students. As a consequence the teaching objectives of CBS were redefined in order to take the Egyptian context into account

Oyster farming value chains in light of sanitary hazards: the case of oyster farmers

Since the mid-2000s, the French oyster industry has faced hazards of various origins. The results of a field survey conducted under the " GIGASSAT " 1 ANR Agrobiosphere programme have highlighted productive changes in the oyster farming industry in the Bay of Bourgneuf and the Mor Braz area (Southern Brittany). Beyond this observation, one may wonder to what extent technological and biotechnological developments as well as environmental risks participate in the reorganization of production. In order to study this dynamics, we have relied on the theoretical concept of Porter's value chain (1986) in the context of a value chain analysis.The survey covered different topics such as the perception of oyster mortality causes, adaptation strategies in terms of supply, abandonment of offshore farming areas in favour of foreshore areas and economic performance in oyster farming. The analysis of oyster farmers' operational activities raises questions about the existence of various types of value chains at the beginning of the period of study, which should be seen in the context of technological innovation, natural advantages and interactions with other actors. The survey also shows that in a sanitary crisis context, some oyster farmers question the configuration of their value chain from a survival perspective, whereas others maintain it. This work contributes to the identification and characterization of the various trajectories adopted by farms within the same sector in the face of environmental changes

International audienceDans la région toulousaine, c’est à Toulouse en 1675 que, pour la première fois, la fabrication de faïence est attestée d’un point de vue archivistique. Il faut ensuite attendre plusieurs décennies pour que de nouvelles faïenceries soient créées dans le Midi toulousain en particulier autour de Martres-Tolosane dès 1737. Pourtant, de nombreuses zones d'ombres existent sur la production faïencière de Toulouse au XVIIIe siècle. Ce chapitre a pour but d'apporter un état de la question et d'émettre de nouvelles hypothèses sur le sujet
