Estilos de gestão, cultura organizacional e qualidade de ensino

ResumoConsiderando a relevância do estabelecimento de ensino e de sua gestão para a produção da qualidade do ensino, o texto desenvolve uma reflexão sobre estilos de gestão escolar em três contextos institucionais, a partir de uma pesquisa em escolas de prestígio no Rio de Janeiro. A primeira parte do trabalho apresenta as principais características de cada uma das escolas em termos de trajetória, reputação, valores norteadores e cultura organizacional registrando as singularidades encontradas. A seguir focalizam-se os modelos de gestão adotados em termos de estrutura organizacional, liderança, fluxo decisório e políticas de pessoal. A terceira parte analisa as interações entre os agentes educacionais procurando identificar a natureza da coesão em torno do projeto educacional bem como sua mobilização na aplicação das normas adotadas pela escola, enquanto aspectos fundamentais para a construção da identidade da escola com conseqüências importantes para a qualidade de ensino.Palavras-chave: Gestão escolar. The first part of the text presents the main features of each school in terms of its  trajectory, reputation, guiding values and organizational culture, recording the singularities found. Next, focus is shifted to the management models adopted in terms of organizational structures, leadership, the decisional flow and personnel policies. The third part analyzes the interactions among educational agents, in order to identify the nature of their cohesion around the educational project, as well as, their mobilization to apply the school rules, as fundamental aspects for the construction of the school identity with relevant consequences towards teaching quality.Key words: School management. Construção solidária do habitus escolar: resultados de uma investigação nos setores público e privado

Nosso objetivo no presente trabalho foi ampliar a compreensão do processo de desenvolvimento e manutenção do habitus escolar que favorece o desempenho dos estudantes de ensino fundamental. Analisamos parte das respostas fornecidas por pais e alunos bem como as observações de campo obtidas durante a aplicação de um survey em um conjunto formado por dez escolas públicas municipais e privadas da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. As escolas incluídas na amostra pesquisada foram escolhidas com base nos resultados obtidos pelos alunos na Prova Brasil e no ENEM. Apresentamos os resultados da análise cruzada das rotinas e esforços familiares com as práticas institucionais que apontam para o reforço de disposições favoráveis ao sucesso escolar. Encontramos entre as famílias de camadas populares indícios de empenho relativamente maior no acompanhamento e apoio aos estudos, do que nas famílias dos alunos de nível sociocultural mais elevado. Este resultado levou-nos a procurar caracterizar as experiências estudantis e as diferentes formas de apoio familiar que respondem às demandas escolares. Encontramos ainda estilos de gestão institucional que, articulados a estilos de lidar com a escolaridade dos filhos por parte das famílias, indicam a presença de estratégias combinadas de produção de habitus escolares, oferecendo um panorama instigante para o debate sobre o efeito-escola em estabelecimentos de prestígio

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma with oral manifestation : a series of four cases and literature review

The aim of this study was to describe the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of four cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) diagnosed through oral manifestations. Clinical data were collected from charts of a single oral pathology laboratory over a 5-year period (2014–2019) and all cases were evaluated by conventional hematoxylin and eosin staining and an extended immunohistochemical panel comprising CD45, CD20, CD3, CD4, CD7, CD30, CD99, CD138, cytokeratin AE1/AE3, EMA, ALK, MUM-1 and Ki-67. The study included 3 male (75%) and 1 female (25%) patients, with a median age of 44 years. The most common intraoral affected site was the alveolar ridge (50%). Clinically, all cases were characterized as an ulcerated bleeding mass. Microscopically, proliferation of anaplastic large lymphoid cells with medium to large-sized, abundant amphophilic to eosinophilic cytoplasm and eccentric nuclei were observed. All cases were positive for CD30, while two cases strongly express ALK. Two patients died of the disease. Careful correlation of clinical, morphological and immunohistochemical data are necessary to establish the diagnosis of oral manifestation of ALCL since its microscopical features may mimic other malignant tumors. Reproducibility of fluorescent expression from engineered biological constructs in E. coli

We present results of the first large-scale interlaboratory study carried out in synthetic biology, as part of the 2014 and 2015 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competitions. Participants at 88 institutions around the world measured fluorescence from three engineered constitutive constructs in E. coli. Few participants were able to measure absolute fluorescence, so data was analyzed in terms of ratios. Precision was strongly related to fluorescent strength, ranging from 1.54-fold standard deviation for the ratio between strong promoters to 5.75-fold for the ratio between the strongest and weakest promoter, and while host strain did not affect expression ratios, choice of instrument did. This result shows that high quantitative precision and reproducibility of results is possible, while at the same time indicating areas needing improved laboratory practices.Peer reviewe
