People Make the Difference: An Explorative Study on the Relationship between Organizational Practices, Employeesâ Resources, and Organizational Behavior Enhancing the Psychology of Sustainability and Sustainable Development
The most recent developments in the ďŹeld of sustainability science and the emergence of a psychologyofsustainabilityandsustainabledevelopmenthavecontributedtocollectevidencesabout the fact that modern organizations need healthy and motivated employees to survive and to prosper within this fast-moving scenario. In this vein, a conďŹrmation to these evidences came from the abundant research on HEalthy and Resilient Organizations (HERO), showing that when organizations make systematic, planned, and proactive efforts to improve employeesâ subjective resources then organizational processes and outcomes beneďŹt in turn. Moving forward from these premises, the presentstudyaimedtoexploretheseassumptionswithinthecontextofsmallandmediumenterprises (SMEs), investigating the relationships among the organizational practices, employeesâ subjective resources, and organizational behaviors. Two hundred and thirty-six participants working in SMEs located in the south of Italy took part. They were invited to ďŹll in a questionnaire investigating their perception of organizational resources and practices (autonomy, leadership, communication, organizational mindfulness, and commitment to resilience), of their individual resources (work engagement and psychological capital), and ďŹnally, of some organizational outcomes (extra-role behavior). Results showed that psychological capital was a signiďŹcant mediator of the relationship betweenemployeesâperceptionoftheorganizationalresourcesandpracticesandextra-rolebehaviors. Concrete implications of these conclusions in terms of human resource management (HRM) are discussed together with limitations of the study and future developments
Many-Body Entanglement in Short-Range Interacting Fermi Gases for Metrology
We explore many-body entanglement in spinful Fermi gases with short-range
interactions, for metrology purposes. We characterize the emerging quantum
phases via Density-Matrix Renormalization Group simulations and quantify their
entanglement content for metrological usability via the Quantum Fisher
Information (QFI). Our study establishes a method, promoting the QFI to be an
order parameter. Short-range interactions reveal to build up metrologically
promising entanglement in the XY-ferromagnetic and cluster ordering, the

Adaptive Streaming in P2P Live Video Systems: A Distributed Rate Control Approach
Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) is a recently proposed standard
that offers different versions of the same media content to adapt the delivery
process over the Internet to dynamic bandwidth fluctuations and different user
device capabilities. The peer-to-peer (P2P) paradigm for video streaming allows
to leverage the cooperation among peers, guaranteeing to serve every video
request with increased scalability and reduced cost. We propose to combine
these two approaches in a P2P-DASH architecture, exploiting the potentiality of
both. The new platform is made of several swarms, and a different DASH
representation is streamed within each of them; unlike client-server DASH
architectures, where each client autonomously selects which version to download
according to current network conditions and to its device resources, we put
forth a new rate control strategy implemented at peer site to maintain a good
viewing quality to the local user and to simultaneously guarantee the
successful operation of the P2P swarms. The effectiveness of the solution is
demonstrated through simulation and it indicates that the P2P-DASH platform is
able to warrant its users a very good performance, much more satisfying than in
a conventional P2P environment where DASH is not employed. Through a comparison
with a reference DASH system modeled via the Integer Linear Programming (ILP)
approach, the new system is shown to outperform such reference architecture. To
further validate the proposal, both in terms of robustness and scalability,
system behavior is investigated in the critical condition of a flash crowd,
showing that the strong upsurge of new users can be successfully revealed and

Institutions and Regional Economic Growth: An Assessment of Mexican Regional Strategies 1970-2000.
Different factors have been included in order to explain the causes of growth and the disparities observed in the last century. This paper examines the role of institutional factors in the growth rates observed among the 32 states in Mexico in the period 1970-2000. The institutional elements considered are the ââŹĹstrategiesâ⏠of local governments, in order to assess if the active strategies (those that are participative, open to global economies and less dependent upon central authorities) have better results in terms of growth than the passive type (those that are dependent on central authorities and have restricted external links). Following on from the documents presented at the ERSA Annual Conferences of 2003/4/5, this paper presents the final assessment of the relationship between institutional elements and growth. This includes identification and measurement of the institutional elements (strategies) through Principal Components Analysis (PCA); and its evaluation with growth using Ordinary Least Square Regressions (OLS). The PCA results identified components related to hard and soft institutional elements (strategies and social networks). Meanwhile, the OLS results suggest that institutions matter; in the case of Mexico, the strategies taken by regional governments in the period 1970-2000 have had some influence in their paths of growth and levels of investment. Furthermore, after 1985 there is evidence that the active strategies (which have substituted the national regional policy) are related to a positive performance, in contrast to the passive type.
t-structures for relative D-modules and t-exactness of the de Rham functor
This paper is a contribution to the study of relative holonomic D-modules. Contrary to the absolute case, the standard t-structure on holonomic D-modules is not preserved by duality and hence the solution functor is no longer t-exact with respect to the canonical, resp. middle-perverse, t-structure.
We provide an explicit description of these dual t-structures. We use this description to prove that the solution functor as well as the relative Riemann-Hilbert functor are t-exact with respect to the dual t-structure and to the middle-perverse one while the de Rham functor is t-exact for the canonical, resp. middle-perverse, t-structure and their duals
