    Nonlinear Control of a DC MicroGrid for the Integration of Photovoltaic Panels

    New connection constraints for the power network (Grid Codes) require more flexible and reliable systems, with robust solutions to cope with uncertainties and intermittence from renewable energy sources (renewables), such as photovoltaic arrays. The interconnection of such renewables with storage systems through a Direct Current (DC) MicroGrid can fulfill these requirements. A "Plug and Play" approach based on the "System of Systems" philosophy using distributed control methodologies is developed in the present work. This approach allows to interconnect a number of elements to a DC MicroGrid as power sources like photovoltaic arrays, storage systems in different time scales like batteries and supercapacitors, and loads like electric vehicles and the main AC grid.     String Stability of a Vehicular Platoon with the use of Macroscopic Information

    We investigate the possibility to use macroscopic information to improve control performance of a vehicular platoon composed of autonomous vehicles. A general mesoscopic traffic modeling is described, and a closed loop String Stability analysis is performed using Input-to-State Stability (ISS) results. Examples of mesoscopic control laws are provided and shown to ensure String Stability properties.     Clinical significance of rare serum autoantibodies in rheumatic diseases: a systematic literature review

    The identification of serum autoantibodies is central in the diagnosis of systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease (SARD), and an increasing number of specificities have been detected in the past years. This allows an early diagnosis in the active phases of diseases, with the identification of specific disease subsets that may ultimately improve the disease outcomes. Thanks to the use of old and new laboratory techniques that are becoming increasingly available worldwide, the number of rheumatic patients with a specific autoantibody is increasing and this is improving also our knowledge of disease trigger mechanisms. The paradigmatic example is the plethora of serum autoantibodies described in polymyositis and dermatomyositis, coined myositis-specific antibodies (MSA) which include antibodies directed against tRNA synthetases, anti-SRP, anti-Mi-2, and anti-TIF-1γ and can discriminate disease subtypes, particularly when associated with the risk of cancer. As a further example, anti-HMGCR antibodies have been reported in several studies in association with necrotizing autoimmune myositis that may follow statin use. To clarify the current knowledge on these rare specificities, we performed a systematic literature review. We focused on the main features associated to specific autoantibodies that are rarely identified in rheumatic disease, to increase the awareness and scientific knowledge on these autoantibodies in different ethnic groups worldwide.Fil: Ceribelli, Angela.     Antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) charged with HDAC inhibitor for targeted epigenetic modulation

    We describe here two novel antibody-drug conjugates loaded with the HDAC inhibitor ST7612AA1 (IC50equal to 0.07 μM on NCI-H460 cells), a thiol-based molecule with a moderate toxicity in vivo. Two payloads were prepared using cleavable and non-cleavable linkers. After anchoring to cetuximab through amide bond with lysines, the resulting HDAC inhibitor-antibody conjugates showed ability to recognize EGFR and efficient internalization in tumor cells. Both ADCs induced sensible increment of histones 3 and 4 and alpha-tubulin acetylation. Animal models of human solid tumors showed high anti-tumor efficacy of the conjugates without the toxicity generally observed with traditional ADCs delivering highly potent cytotoxic drugs. These compounds, the first ADCs charged with not highly cytotoxic warheads, are potentially suitable for epigenetic modulation, extending the ADC strategy to the targeted delivery of HDAC inhibitors with many possible therapeutic applications beyond cancer
