We study the ground-state entanglement and thermal entanglement in the hyperfine interaction of the lithium atom. We give the relationship between the entanglement and both temperature and external magnetic fields.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

Probing Triple-W Production and Anomalous WWWW Coupling at the CERN LHC and future 100TeV proton-proton collider

Get PDF
Triple gauge boson production at the LHC can be used to test the robustness of the Standard Model and provide useful information for VBF di-boson scattering measurement. Especially, any derivations from SM prediction will indicate possible new physics. In this paper we present a detailed Monte Carlo study on measuring WWW production in pure leptonic and semileptonic decays, and probing anomalous quartic gauge WWWW couplings at the CERN LHC and future hadron collider, with parton shower and detector simulation effects taken into account. Apart from cut-based method, multivariate boosted decision tree method has been exploited for possible improvement. For the leptonic decay channel, our results show that at the sqrt{s}=8(14)[100] TeV pp collider with integrated luminosity of 20(100)[3000] fb-1, one can reach a significance of 0.4(1.2)[10]sigma to observe the SM WWW production. For the semileptonic decay channel, one can have 0.5(2)[14]sigma to observe the SM WWW production. We also give constraints on relevant Dim-8 anomalous WWWW coupling parameters.Comment: Accepted version by JHE

Unique MnO2 nanoflowers (∼25 nm) composed of ultrathin K0.26MnO2 nanoflake assemblies were synthesized by a facile and green procedure. Prototype MnO2-NFs//KCl//CNTs asymmetric supercapacitors in a neutral aqueous electrolyte demonstrated pseudocapacitive dominance for the first time in addition to outstanding energy and power densities and superior cycling performance

Search for vector-like leptons at a Muon Collider

A feasibility study is performed for searching vector-like leptons at a muon collider, in the context of the "4321 model", an ultraviolet-complete model with rich collider phenomenology together with potential to explain recent existing some B physics measurements or anomalies. In this paper, we perform a Monte Carlo study with various machine learning techniques, and examine the projected sensitivity on vector-like leptons over a wide mass range at a TeV-scale muon collider. We find that a 3 TeV muon collider with only 10/fb of data can already be sensitive to cover the mass range of a vector-like lepton up to 1450 GeV.Comment: CPC Published Versio

ObjectiveTo study the cardioprotective effect of sesame ethanol extract (SEE) on exercise-induced fatigue (EIF) rats and its effects on myocardial physiological and biochemical parameters.MethodsRats were randomly divided into control group (Control), EIF group, EIF+0.5SEE group, EIF+1SEE group and EIF+2SEE group, with 12 rats in each group. The rats in control group and EIF group were daily intragastrically administered 2 mL of purified water for 14 consecutive days. Rats in EIF+0.5SEE group, EIF+1SEE group and EIF+2SEE group were given 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 g/kg·BW of SEE daily for 14 consecutive days. Then the EIF rat model was established by treadmill exercise. After exercise, the echocardiographic parameters (LVPWd, LVPWs, LVIDs, EF and FS), serum myocardial injury indexes (LDH, CK and cTnI) and myocardial tissue antioxidant indexes (MDA, SOD, CAT and GSH-Px) of the rats in each group were detected. Myocardial morphology was detected by hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining. The protein expressions of connexin 43 (Cx43), ATP 5D, phosphorylated AMP-dependent protein kinase (p-AMPK) and AMPK in myocardial tissue were detected by Western blot.ResultsCompared with EIF group, the LVPWd, LVPWs and LVIDs of EIF+0.5SEE group, EIF+1SEE group and EIF+2SEE group decreased, while EF and FS increased significantly (P<0.05). Compared with EIF group, the myocardial injury in EIF+0.5SEE group, EIF+1SEE group and EIF+2SEE group was significantly alleviated, and the levels of serum LDH, CK and cTnI decreased significantly (P<0.05). Compared with EIF group, the myocardial tissue MDA content in EIF+0.5SEE group, EIF+1SEE group and EIF+2SEE group decreased significantly, while the activities of SOD, CAT and GSH-Px increased significantly (P<0.05). Compared with EIF group, the expression levels of Cx43, ATP 5D and p-AMPK/AMPK protein in myocardial tissue of EIF+0.5SEE group, EIF+1SEE group and EIF+2SEE group all increased significantly (P<0.05).ConclusionSEE can effectively prevent myocardial injury and improve cardiac function in EIF rats. SEE may exert cardioprotective effects by improving antioxidant system, gap junctions, energy metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis in myocardial tissue

TiO 2 Fibers: Tunable Polymorphic Phase Transformation and Electrochemical Properties

Get PDF
A series of one-dimensional (1D) nanoparticle-assembled TiO2 fibers with tunable polymorphs were prepared via a novel and large scale ForceSpinning® process of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP)/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) precursor fibers followed with a thermal treatment at various calcinations temperatures. The thermal and structural transformations were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis/differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The influence of polymorphic phase of the TiO2 fibers on the electrochemical performance in neutral aqueous 1 M Na2SO4 electrolyte was investigated. The polymorphic amorphous/anatase/rutile TiO2 fibers prepared at 450 °C achieved a highest capacitance of 21.2 F g−1 (6.61 mF cm−2) at a current density of 200 mA g−1, for which the improved electronic conductivity and activated pseudo-capacitance mechanism may be responsible. This work helps bridge the gap between nanoscience and manufacturing. It also makes polymorphism control of functional materials a potential strategy for further improving supercapacitive output of metal oxides

Purpose: To investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of action of Gengnian Jianshen Decoction (GJD) on ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis in rats. Methods: Female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to a sham-operated group (control), and five ovariectomy (OVX) sub-groups, that is, OVX with vehicle (OVX), OVX with Xianling Gubao capsule (positive control drug, 120 mg/kg/day), and OVX with GJD doses (70, 140, and 280 mg/kg/day). The treatments were given orally daily for 16 weeks (starting 4 weeks after the rats were subjected to ovariectomy. Bone mineral density (BMD) of the L4 vertebrae and right femur of each rat was estimated. Serum levels of estradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), as well as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1) of rats in all the groups were determined using ELISA.Results: The results showed that GJD dose-dependently inhibited BMD reduction in L4 vertebrae and femur, and significantly increased serum E2, FSH and LH levels (p < 0.05) in the osteoporotic rats. Moreover, GJD significantly decreased serum IL-6 levels and increased levels of IGF-1 (p < 0.05).Conclusion: These findings indicate that GJD prevents OVX-induced osteoporosis in rats without hyperplastic effects on the uterus. Thus, GJD has potential for use in the treatment of post-menopausal osteoporosis. Keywords: Gengnian Jianshen decoction, Osteoporosis, Ovariectomy, Bone mineral densit
