    Verdad y felicidad epicúreas

    El objetivo general de este artículo es mostrar la importancia y vigencia de la filosofía epicúrea en la historia del pensamiento filosófico. Para ello, nos valemos del estudio de los conceptos de verdad y felicidad en Epicuro. Analizamos el concepto de verdad y su relación con la teoría atómica, así como el papel del conocimiento dentro de la filosofía epicúrea; es decir, como un instrumento al servicio de la vida que, lejos de ser un lujo de la vida en molicie, se convierte en una necesidad para alcanzar serenidad y, por ende, para acercarnos a la felicidad. Asimismo, observamos la concepción de felicidad, con lo cual mostramos el necesario enlace o correlación entre la física y la filosofía moral. Posteriormente mostramos la influencia que ha tenido la filosofía epicúrea en diversos pensadores y filósofos a lo largo de la historia del pensamiento.     NANOSTRUCTURED ARRAYS FOR SENSING AND ENERGY STORAGE APPLICATIONS

    Vertically aligned multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) arrays fabricated by xylene pyrolysis in anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) templates without the use of a catalyst, were integrated into a resistive sensor design. The steady state sensitivities as high as 5% and 10% for 100 ppm of NH3 and NO2 respectively at a flow rate of 750 sccm were observed. A study was undertaken to elucidate (i) the dependence of sensitivity on the thickness of amorphous carbon layers, (ii) the effect of UV light on gas desorption characteristics and (iii) the dependence of room temperature sensitivity on different NH3 and NO2 flow rates. An equivalent circuit model was developed to understand the operation and propose design changes for increased sensitivity. Multi Walled Carbon NanoTubes (MWCNTs) – Polymer composite based hybrid sensors were fabricated and integrated into a resistive sensor design for gas sensing applications. Thin films of MWCNTs were grown onto Si/SiO2 substrates via xylene pyrolysis using chemical vapor deposition technique. Polymers like PEDOT:PSS and Polyaniline (PANI) mixed with various solvents like DMSO, DMF, 2-Propanol and Ethylene Glycol were used to synthesize the composite films. These sensors exhibited excellent response and selectivity at room temperature when exposed to low concentrations (100ppm) of gases like NH3 and NO2. Effect of various solvents on the sensor response imparting selectivity to CNT – Polymer nanocomposites was investigated extensively. Sensitivities as high as 28% was observed for a MWCNT – PEDOT:PSS composite sensor when exposed to 100ppm of NH3 and -29.8% sensitivity for a MWCNT-PANI composite sensor to 100ppm of NO2. A novel nanostructured electrode design for Li based batteries and electrochemical capacitor applications was developed and tested. High density and highly aligned metal oxide nanowire arrays were fabricated via template assisted electrochemical deposition. Nickel and Molybdenum nanowires fabricated via cathodic deposition process were converted into respective oxides via thermal treatments and were evaluated as electrodes for batteries and capacitor applications via Cyclic Voltammetery (CV). Several chemical baths were formulated for the deposition of pristine molybdenum nanowires. Superior electrochemical performance of metal (Ni and Mo) oxide nanowires was observed in comparison to the previously reported nano-particle based electrodes

    GAS SENSING PROPERTIES AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF MULTI WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES

    Multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) grown in highly ordered porous alumina templates were incorporated into a resistive gas sensor design and were evaluated for their sensitivities. The material characteristics and electrical properties of the nanotubes were analyzed. A study was undertaken to elucidate the effect of UV light on desorption characteristics and the dependence of sensitivity on (i) thickness of amorphous carbon layers and (ii) flow rates of analyte gases. These sensors were highly responsive to both oxidizing and reducing gases with steady state sensitivities of 5% and 10% for 100ppm of NH3 and NO2 respectively, at room temperature. As part of a comparative study, thick films of MWCNTs grown on Si/SiO2 substrates were integrated into various nano-composite based sensors and were evaluated for their response. Steady state sensitivities as high as 10% and 11% were achieved for 100ppm of NH3 and NO2 respectively, at room temperature. MWCNTs were characterized for their electrical properties by I–V measurements at room temperatures. A typical I-V curve with an ohmic behavior was observed for a device with high work function metals (example: Au, Pt); Schottky behavior was observed for devices with metal contacts having low work functions (example: Al, Cu)

    The setting mechanism of the remuneration proper to the factors of production is not different from the merchandise price determination, in this case the type of the market pattern being. When the price of the production factors is determined it must be considered both the type of the market where the goods are sold (as output of the manufacture process) and the type of the market where the production factors are provided (engaged). Among the incomes determined by using the production factors mix, the rent represents a very important one. Due to its long term existence, the revenue of rent is one of the economical notion, which has the largest application and the most different signification. For a long time, the rent was attached to the use of the natural resources, especially to those of the earth. Nowadays the application area of this notion has been extended over some other factors of production. In Romania, on the ground of the mining branch development, there were not too many reason of the economic efficiency and the theoretical developments with reference to the costs generated by using the factors of production were ignored. The correct substantiation of the decisions with reference to the application of the national mineral potential can’t ignore the costs generated by the remuneration of the production factor in the mining revenue system

    Universal jurisdiction and the International Court of Justice: a comment on the Congo cases

    Universal jurisdiction relates to unprecedented developments which occurred in international law over the last decades, especially since the creation of the United Nations. Universal jurisdiction is linked with the emergence of international human rights law and criminal law and unfortunately conflicts with traditional international law principles such as equality among states and state sovereignty. International lawyers gave it renewed attention in the aftermath of the Pinochet case. However, the International Court of Justice was still to pronounce on its legality. The DRC case provided the first test but as some uncertainty remained, Africa in the Congo case returned to the World Court to help it dispose of the matter, making yet another contribution to the development of international law. The Congo case is still pending. This article discusses universal jurisdiction and sovereign immunity briefly. Against the backdrop of the DRC and the Congo cases, the author reflects on the prospects for universal jurisdiction. He contends that the ICJ will remain primarily a court for states and finally urges that the combat that culminated in the establishment of the International Criminal Court should continue to mark a new era for human and peoples’ rights in international law in this new century

    The background of the conduct of this study is based on the achievement of squat jumps in particular and athletic sports in general that do not show progress. The author realizes that this is important so that through discussions at the KKG level, almost all schools complain about the disinterest of students in this one sport. Therefore the author feels compelled to make a classroom action research to be able to find a solution so that the deterioration of athletic sports, especially the long jump number can be returned. The method used in this study is a class action research method wherein the jump and jump patterns are packaged in an exciting game, so that students are motivated in participating in this learning material. For the sample population in this study were all fifth grade students in SD Inpres Tikatukang in the academic year 2017/2018. The research procedures include: Planning, Implementation, observation and reflection. Through the application of the jump and jump approach it was observed that there was an increase in student activity from cycle I to cycle II, where through observation from the active category it became very active, the good category became very good, from discipline to very disciplined. It was illustrated that by jumping and jumping students experienced an increase in learning achievement, namely 100% of children in the good category (B). While the long jump with a prefix of 95% of children is in a good category. 5% enough category.     The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pair passing training on passing accuracy of extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Adonara. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with the nature of this study is associative. Descriptive quantitative research uses a correlational research approach. The subjects of the study were extracurricular participants of SMAN 1 Adonara totaling 26 students. The data collection technique uses form assessment of exercise quality and accuracy of top passing and documentation. Data analysis techniques use quantitative descriptive, assumption tests and hypothesis tests. The results showed that pair passing had a significant effect on the accuracy of upper passing in volleyball extracurricular participants at SMAN 1 Adonara. Based on the results of statistical calculations and test criteria, it can be known that t calculate 0.725 > t table 0.685 with a statistical calculation significance level of 0.00 < alpha 0.05, so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted
