Some observations on the sabalo fishery in the Philippines
This paper is a compilation of observations on the catch of both the sea and lacustrine sabalo which were caught by existing fishing methods and gear. It also presents a study of the fishing methods and gear used including an analysis of the catch in terms of quantity, size and weight of fish, sex ratio, and size at sexual maturity
A pilot family-operated fish cage project in Lake Kyoga
The culture of fish in cage and pen is a comparatively new project in Uganda although it has been successfully practiced commercially in the Philippines in the raising of Tilapia and carps. As a technology transfer scheme the project is being proposed as an alternative employment both for fishermen and farmers in the rural and fishing communities around the Lake Kyoga Complex. The project can be operated as family enterprise, by cooperatives or by fishery corporations, as possible income-producing business ventures

United States Fish and Wildlife Service Reports
A trawl fishery of considerable magnitude has developed in the Philippines since liberation from the Japanese in 1945. At the inception of the Philippines Fishery Program of the United States Fish and Wildlife Serve, the trawl fishery was using a Japanese beam trawl and was, for the most part, confined to Manila Bay. Realizing that the supply of fish badly needed by the Philippine public could be augmented by trawling, the program inaugurated exploratory fishing voyages to likely grounds and demonstrated the otter trawl in important fishing centers. Twenty-four areas were surveyed, and a number of drags sufficient to demonstrate the possibilities were made in each. The results are tabulated and described, along with the composition of the catch and catch by depth
