Problem of Empty Nest Syndrome: An Analysis and Suggestions to Bridle it
In the present competitive world career and professional life has become so important for young people, that they need to leave their home willingly or unwillingly. This leaving home has huge effect on psychology of parents, especially in case the child is the youngest one. As leaving the youngest child will turn the home empty so the phenomenon has been named as ‘Empty nest syndrome’. Author has attempted to analyse the problem of empty nest syndrome in terms of positive and negative effects. Paper starts with elaborating psychological state of parents which sounds shattered and isolated followed by pointing out various complexities created by virtue of the syndrome. Finally some suggestions have been put forward to come out from this psychological dead-lock. Paper ends with various suggestions by which parents can give direction to their mental health for the sake of their wards’ future. Parents need to be vigilant in this regard because young generations’ future is at stake and by adjusting to this they can do a lot for their loved ones
SocioBot: Twitter for Command and Control of a Botnet
A botnet is a collection of computers controlled by a botmaster, often used for malicious activity. Social network provides an ideal medium for botnets to spread their reach. In this research, we develop and analyze a botnet that uses Twitter for its command and control channel. We use this botnet to perform a distributed denial of service attack on a web server, and we utilize the biological epidemic models to analyze the spread of the botnet using Twitter
Antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory potential of sulphated polygalactans from red seaweeds Kappaphycus alvarezii and Gracilaria opuntia
Antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory potential of sulphated polygalactans
isolated from the red seaweeds Kappaphycus alvarezii and Gracilaria opuntia
were acquired by employing different in vitro systems. The sulphated
galactopyran motif derived from G. opuntia possessed significant antidiabetic
properties as identified by α-amylase (IC50 0.04 mg/mL), α-glucosidase
(IC50 0.09 mg/mL) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4, IC50 0.09 mg/mL)
inhibitory activities. Based on the detailed nuclear magnetic resonance
spectroscopy experiments the sulphated galactopyran motif of G. opuntia
was designated as →3)-4-O-sulfonato-(6-O-acetyl)-β-D-galactopyranosyl-
(1→4)-3,6-anhydro-(2-O-sulfonato)-α-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→3)-4-O-sulfonato-(
6-O-acetyl)-β-D-xylosyl-(1→3)-4-O-sulfonato-(6-O-acetyl)-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(
1→4)-3,6-anhydro-(2-O-sulfonato)-α-D-galactopyranan, while the
one from K. alvarezii was demonstrated to be →4)-4-O-sulfonato-(2-Omethyl)-
β-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→4)-3,6-anhydro-(2-O-methyl)-α-D-galactopyranan.
The sulphated galactans from G. opuntia showed greater antiinflammatory
inhibitory activities as determined by cyclooxygenase-1
(COX-1, IC50 0.01 mg/mL), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2, IC50 0.03 mg/mL),
and 5-lipoxygenase inhibitory activities (5-LOX, IC50 0.24 mg/mL). This
study revealed that the sulfated polygalactan enriched concentrate from
G. opuntia can be used as potential therapeutic candidate to suppress the
hyperglycemic response in diabetic conditions and inflammatory activity.
They can be used to develop functional food ingredient in nutraceutical
products
A Comparative Study on Water Management Practices in India with Special Reference to Gujarat and Meghalaya
India is experiencing the most terrible water emergency in its history and a large number of lives are under risk. The fast development of populace joined with rising degrees of utilization and contamination has expanded water frailty in India. Meghalaya, concealed in the slopes of eastern sub-Himalayas is one of the most excellent states in the nation. Nature has favoured her with plenteous precipitation, sun-sparkle, virgin timberlands, high levels, tumbling cascades, completely clear waterways, wandering streamlets or more all with strong, shrewd and accommodating individuals. Yet Meghalaya had the lowest Water Index score of 26.This paper studies nine parameters where Meghalaya (being the worst performer with score of 26) is lagging behind from Gujarat (being the highest performer with the score of 76) in Composite Water Index. A descriptive analysis has been done and lessons gained are proposed for the management of water crisis in the state of Meghalaya
Study of compliance of crash carts to standards in the emergency of a tertiary care teaching hospital
Background: The successful management of cardiopulmonary emergencies revolves around the optimum utilization of the golden hour, so that the patient gets the best possible advantage at survival. Aim of the study was to perform gap analysis of crash carts in the emergency of a tertiary care teaching hospital by comparing the salient parameters with standards listed by Resuscitation Council UK (for equipment) and National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and health care providers (for management of medication). Further, to assess the improvement in compliance with the simple intervention of educating staff regarding protocols. Methods: A descriptive, quantitative, observational study, supplemented in the second phase by an intervention to increase awareness of staff in achieving standardization, followed further by assessing the level of improvement in compliance to standards in terms of content, labeling, documentation and functionality of the contents of the carts. Results: The root causes of non-adherence to standardization were design of the area and of the cart, amount of workload which led to neglect of labelling, documentation protocols resulting in decreased accountability and inefficient monitoring. This impacted the adequate provision of content and functionality of the items in the crash carts. Human factor engineering in the form of customization of crash carts for cognitive ergonomic design, clarity and awareness of guidelines among the nursing staff i.e. ‘first responder’ went a long way in improving compliance to standards. Conclusions: Human factor engineering supplemented by usage of sub-trolleys, along with increasing sensitivity and awareness to standard protocols, can help achieve maximum compliance in terms of the effective functioning of crash carts in the emergency
To study the impact of design considerations on customer satisfaction in a dialysis facility of a super-specialty tertiary care hospital in Delhi, India
Background: In recent times, patient focused hospital architecture is gaining attention. The current scenario demands to provide living spaces for families rather than ware houses for the sick. Attitudes, aspiration and values of the society must be clearly understood while planning a facility. Methods: This prospective cross sectional observational study was carried out over a period of one year at the Dialysis unit of a tertiary care, super specialty hospital in North India with the objective to establish that minor structural changes can enhance customer delight which includes patients and their attendants of a chronic disease patient population visiting a health care facility and satisfaction of the staff of the facility. The tool used was a structured 5 point Likert scaled questionnaire including unstructured interviews. These were held with 200 patients availing treatment in the old and new dialysis unit each and who have at least had three dialysis treatments within 6 months in the both the units. Also, for staff satisfaction, 25 staff working for at least one month in the old unit and new unit each. Data was analysed using SPSS 17.0 software. Results: Good design and quality of care were regarded important for patient experience. For patients, overall functioning and efficiency of the processes in the facility dependent on the design of the building was most important. Just over half of all surveyed patients felt that design impacted their relationship with their doctor and the quality of the care received. For attendants, waiting area including billing facility fetched the highest parameter for satisfaction. For staff the importance of access to support services, safety and provision of basic facilities resonated with the patient views presented above. Privacy, confidentiality and patient safety through careful design of waiting room, reception and consulting room were high staff priorities. Design that facilitated communication between team members also emerged as an important area although the change in design did not make much difference in emotional wellbeing and work life balance of the staff. Conclusions: This study did not yield sufficient data to confirm or refute either concept, though clearly this merit further investigation. Some unexpected findings were reported. Specifically, the survey data rated privacy and the availability of comfortable physical conditions as the highest priority for both staff and patients
Nutritional Implications of Bound Proanthocyanidins
The correlation between protein binding capacity of proanthocyanidin-rich neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and their proanthocyanidin (PAs) content was very low (r = -0.21; n = 6). These PAs-rich NDF did not affect growth of a tannin-sensitive strain of Clostridium perfringens. A substantial amount of bound PAs (75 to 92 %) disappeared from the NDF in 24 h of fermentation in an in vitro incubation medium containing rumen microbes. Addition of a tannin-binding agent, polyethylene glycol to the incubation medium containing rumen microbes and browses made free of extractable tannins or NDF rich in bound PAs increased the gas production up to 100 %. The results suggest that bound PAs seem to be inert and do not affect microbial fementation. However, these bound PAs get released into the medium as a result of microbial action and then affect microbial fermentation
Recommendation Based On Comparative Analysis of Apriori and BW-Mine Algorithm
With The Growth of WWW recommending appropriate and relevant page to the user is a challenging task. In many web Applications, user would like to get recommendation based on their interest of surfing. Web Mining is used to extract relevant information for the user from logs, web content, hyperlinks etc. In this paper we will be using logs to recommend frequent access patterns to the users .This paper aims at using the logs of user ,cleaning logs , identifying users , identifying session , completing sessions from website structure and then using and comparing different recommendation algorithm like Apriori Algorithms and BW-Mine to recommend frequent items to the user. We will also be comparing different recommendations Algorithm with the help of example. The fundamental of finding access patterns with Apriori is that any set that occurs frequently must have its frequent subset. The fundamental of finding access pattern with BW-Mine, it constructs the WB-table, VI-List, and HI-Counter for finding frequent patterns
