Intensity limits for stationary and interacting multi-soliton complexes
We obtain an accurate estimate for the peak intensities of multi-soliton
complexes for a Kerr-type nonlinearity in the (1+1) - dimension problem. Using
exact analytical solutions of the integrable set of nonlinear Schrodinger
equations, we establish a rigorous relationship between the eigenvalues of
incoherently-coupled fundamental solitons and the range of admissible
intensities. A clear geometrical interpretation of this effect is given.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figure
Spin Content of the Quantum Soliton
The classical soliton solution, quantized by means of suitable translational
and rotational collective coordinates, is embedded into the one-particle
irreductible representation of the Poincare group corresponding to a definite
spin. It is shown, that within the conventional quasiclassical expansion such
embedding leads to a set of nontrivial consistency conditions imposed on the
classical solution. The validity of these relations is considered for a number
of soliton models in 2+1- and 3+1-dimensions.Comment: 10 pages, Standard LaTe
Exact soliton solutions, shape changing collisions and partially coherent solitons in coupled nonlinear Schroedinger equations
We present the exact bright one-soliton and two-soliton solutions of the
integrable three coupled nonlinear Schroedinger equations (3-CNLS) by using the
Hirota method, and then obtain them for the general -coupled nonlinear
Schroedinger equations (N-CNLS). It is pointed out that the underlying solitons
undergo inelastic (shape changing) collisions due to intensity redistribution
among the modes. We also analyse the various possibilities and conditions for
such collisions to occur. Further, we report the significant fact that the
various partial coherent solitons (PCS) discussed in the literature are special
cases of the higher order bright soliton solutions of the N-CNLS equations.Comment: 4 pages, RevTex, 1 EPS figure To appear in Physical Review Letter
