Oznacza on powszechnie akceptowany sposób robienia czegoś, specyficzny dla konkretnego społeczeństwa, miejsca lub czasu, który rozwinął się poprzez powtarzanie przez długi czas. Zwyczaje sezonowe odnoszą się do obchodów, które można zaobserwować każdego roku, ponieważ są w dużej mierze związane ze środowiskiem naturalnym i zachodzącymi w nim zmianami. Takie obrządki były szczególnie ważne dla społeczeństw rolniczych, w tym dla dawnego społeczeństwa koreańskiego. Większość koreańskich tradycji związanych z ich obchodami, w tym celebracje świąt kalendarza księżycowego, ukształtowała się i rozwinęła właśnie w wyniku cykli rolniczych, które odzwierciedlały codzienne życie ludzi.Celem pracy jest analiza dostępnych źródeł i jak najdokładniejszy opis najważniejszych koreańskich świąt kalendarza lunarnego, czyli księżycowego Nowego Roku – Seollal i koreańskich dożynek Chuseok.Custom is a term that is often used in discussions about culture. It means a generally accepted way of doing something specific to a particular society, place or time, that has developed through repetition over a long period of time. Seasonal customs relate to the celebrations that can be observed each year, as they are largely related to the natural environment and thein it changes. Such rites were especially important to agricultural societies, including the Korean society. Most Korean traditions related to their celebration, including the celebration of the holidays of the lunar calendar, were shaped and developed precisely as a result of agricultural cycles that reflected people's daily lives.The aim of the work is to analyse the available sources and describe as precisely as possible the most important Korean holidays of the lunar or lunar calendar, which are the New Year's Eve - Seollal and Korean Harvest Festival - Chuseok

High resolution structure of an M23 peptidase with a substrate analogue

LytM is a Staphylococcus aureus autolysin and a homologue of the S. simulans lysostaphin. Both enzymes are members of M23 metallopeptidase family (MEROPS) comprising primarily bacterial peptidoglycan hydrolases. LytM occurs naturally in a latent form, but can be activated by cleavage of an inhibitory N-terminal proregion. Here, we present a 1.45 Å crystal structure of LytM catalytic domain with a transition state analogue, tetraglycine phosphinate, bound in the active site. In the electron density, the active site of the peptidase, the phosphinate and the "diglycine" fragment on the P1' side of the transition state analogue are very well defined. The density is much poorer or even absent for the P1 side of the ligand. The structure is consistent with the involvement of His260 and/or His291 in the activation of the water nucleophile and suggests a possible catalytic role for Tyr204, which we confirmed by mutagenesis. Possible mechanisms of catalysis and the structural basis of substrate specificity are discussed based on the structure analysis
