    Developing Students' Ability of Mathematical Connection Through Using Outdoor Mathematics Learning

    The Purpose of this study is to determine the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical connectionability through using outdoor mathematics learning. 64 students from the fifth grade of Primary School at SDN 65 and SDN 67 Bengkulu City were taken as the sample of this study. While the method of the research used in this research is experiment with quasi-experimental designs non-equivalent control group. The results of the study are as follows: (1) There is an increasing ability found in mathematical connection of students whom taught by using outdoors mathematics learning is 0,53; (2) Based on statical computation that achievement of students' ability of mathematical connection is taught by using outdoor mathematics learning score is 71,25. It is higher than the students score 66,25 which were taught by using the conventional learning. So as to improve students' mathematical connection, teachers are suggested to use the outdoors mathematics learnin

    AbstractThe purpose of this research is to find out the difference between the result of student learning which taught by cooperative learning Group Investigation type and Student Teams Achievement Division type on polyhedron in the class VIII of Junior High School 4 Bengkulu City. This research is quasy experiment research with population in this research is the student in class VIII of Junior High School 4 Bengkulu City. The sample in this research is get from cluster sampling, so the experiment class (VIII4) are 35 students by using Group Investigation an control class (VIII5) are 34 students by using Student Teams Achievement Division. Based on data analysis by using t test is get tcount=0,02 and ttabel with ? = 0,05, df = 66 get ttabel = 2,00, so tcount is placed between -2,00 ? tcount ? 2,00. This matter, H0 accepted which means there is no significant differences between the result of student learning between cooperative learning Group Investigation type and Student Teams Achievement Division type in class VIII of Junior High School 4 Bengkulu City.Keyword:result of student learning, GI, and STA

    Analisis Kemempuan Siswa Smp/mts Kota Bengkulu dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Matematika Timss

    The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of junior high school students in Bengkulu City in solving math problems based on Trend International Mathematics and Science (TIMSS). This research was a survey research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The population in this study were all students of Class IX from 40 schools public and private junior high school in Bengkulu City. The sample selection was carried out in two stages, namely stratified random sampling to select schools and simple random sampling to select classes. The sample consisted of 12 Junior high schools in Bengkulu City. Data collection was done by distributing test instruments. The research instrument was 20 items that consist of 15 multiple choices and 5 short answers that were reviewed from the TIMSS problems in 2011 and 2015. Data analysis was done by using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the ability of junior high school students in Bengkulu City in terms of content aspects, namely: (1) geometry of 23.46% (low), (2) data and chance of 50.40% (low), (3) algebra and number of 59.18% (enough)
