Constraining the Randall-Sundrum modulus in the light of recent PVLAS data
Recent PVLAS data put stringent constraints on the measurement of
birefringence and dichroism of electromagnetic waves travelling in a constant
and homogeneous magnetic field. There have been theoretical predictions in
favour of such phenomena when appropriate axion-electromagnetic coupling is
assumed. Origin of such a coupling can be traced in a low energy string action
from the requirement of quantum consistency. The resulting couplings in such
models are an artifact of the compactification of the extra dimensions present
inevitably in a string scenario. The moduli parameters which encode the compact
manifold therefore play a crucial role in determining the axion-photon
coupling. In this work we examine the possible bounds on the value of compact
modulus that emerge from the experimental limits on the coupling obtained from
the PVLAS data. In particular we focus into the Randall-Sundrum (RS) type of
warped geometry model whose modulus parameter is already restricted from the
requirement of the resolution of gauge hierarchy problem in connection with the
mass of the Higgs. We explore the bound on the modulus for a wide range of the
axion mass for both the birefringence and the dichroism data in PVLAS. We show
that the proposed value of the modulus in the RS scenario can only be

Optimum Production through variational principle with the time quadratic demand, fuzzy time period and fuzzy integrand
Here a real life optimal control problem under fuzzy time period using
variational principle is formulated and Solved. The unit production cost is a
function of production rate and also dependent on raw material cost,
development cost due to durability and wear-tear cost. The holding cost is
assumed to be non-linear, dependent on time. The profit function which consists
of revenue, production cost and holding cost is formulated as a Fuzzy-Final
Time and Fixed State System optimal control problem with fuzzy time period.
Here production rate is unknown and considered as a control variable and stock
level is taken as a state variable. It is formulated to optimize the production
rate so that total profit is maximum. The non-linear optimization
technique-Generalised Reduced Gradient Method (LINGO 11.0) is used. The optimum

Ethical Use of Cereal Legume Intercrop Forages for Feeding of Sheep and Pasture Development
Cereal forages are important in the feeding of livestock for their high energy and dry matter content. However, they are low in protein content and inferior in other nutritional quality than the legume forages. Ruminants required protein as well as energy to maintain their production. Supplementation of protein through concentrates is cost effective in livestock production. Besides, ruminant is unique in having the potential for cycling forage materials, poor quality protein and non protein nitrogen sources into human food supply as meat and milk (Eskandary et al., 2009). Thus, management of forages for livestock feeding either in feedlot or in pasture grazing is the key task of livestock manager to minimize cost in maximization of profit. In agricultural system, intercropping is a crop management system involving two or more crop species grown together for at least part of their productive cycle (Innis, 1997). Cereal legume intercropping system is more productive and profitable cropping system for the supply of balanced nutrients to livestock. Besides, animal welfare committee pointed out that there should not be restriction or prevention of natural innate behaviour including natural foraging or exploratory behaviour of animal. As per this, animals foraging behaviour on feeding and thereby analysis of the system and its application in livestock farming and pasture development as per species of animal became utmost important in forthcoming days of livestock farming. Intercropping of cereals and legumes can boost forage protein of animal’s diet which may be tested for animals choice in foraging will justify the ethics in animal feeding
Role of B-ring of colchicine in its binding to Zn(II)-induced tubulin-sheets
Colchicine-tubulin dimer complex, a potent inhibitor of normal microtubule assembly undergoes extensive self-assembly in the presence of 1 X 10-4 M zinc sulphate. Polymers assembled from colchicine-tubulin dimer complexes are sensitive to cold. Although colchicine can be accomodated within the polymeric structure, the drug cannot bind to tubulin subunits in the intact polymers. This is evidenced by the fact that (a) the colchicine binding activity of tubulin is lost when allowed to polymerize with zinc sulphate, (b) the loss in colchicine binding could be prevented by preincubation of tubulin with 1 X 10-3 M CaCl2 or 1 X 10-5 M vinblastine sulphate and finally (c) no loss in colchicine binding activity is found when tubulin is kept at a concentration far below the critical concentration for polymerization. Unlike colchicine, its B-ring analogues desacetamido colchicine (devoid of the B-ring subtituent) and 2-methoxy-5-(2', 3', 4'-trimethoxyphenyl) tropone (devoid of the B-ring) can bind to tubulin subunits in the intact polymers. Thus we conclude that the colchicine binding domain on the tubulin molecule is mostly (if not completely) exposed in the Zn(II) -induced polymers and the B-ring substituent plays a major role in determining the binding ability of a colchicine analogue to tubulin in the intact Zn(II) -induced sheets
LncRNA-p21 alters the antiandrogen enzalutamide-induced prostate cancer neuroendocrine differentiation via modulating the EZH2/STAT3 signaling
While the antiandrogen enzalutamide (Enz) extends the castration resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients' survival an extra 4.8 months, it might also result in some adverse effects via inducing the neuroendocrine differentiation (NED). Here we found that lncRNA-p21 is highly expressed in the NEPC patients derived xenograft tissues (NEPC-PDX). Results from cell lines and human clinical sample surveys also revealed that lncRNA-p21 expression is up-regulated in NEPC and Enz treatment could increase the lncRNA-p21 to induce the NED. Mechanism dissection revealed that Enz could promote the lncRNA-p21 transcription via altering the androgen receptor (AR) binding to different androgen-response-elements, which switch the EZH2 function from histone-methyltransferase to non-histone methyltransferase, consequently methylating the STAT3 to promote the NED. Preclinical studies using the PDX mouse model proved that EZH2 inhibitor could block the Enz-induced NED. Together, these results suggest targeting the Enz/AR/lncRNA-p21/EZH2/STAT3 signaling may help urologists to develop a treatment for better suppression of the human CRPC progression
Production and Reproductive Performance of Bhadawari Buffaloes in Uttar Pradesh, India
Bhadawari is one of the recognized buffalo breeds of India and is famous for high fat content in their milk. Data on production and reproductive traits were collected under Network Project on Bhadawari buffaloes, at Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The overall least squares means (±SE) for peak yield, days to attain peak yield, lactation milk yield, lactation length, 305 days milk yield, milk yield per day of lactation, service period, calving interval and dry period were 6.96±0.10 kg, 52.8±4.1 days, 1250.5±24.6 kg, 291.4±4.9 days, 1213.5±21.6 kg, 4.30±0.06 kg, 172.4±7.7 days, 522.1±12.1 days and 241.80±11.3 days, respectively. Period of calving had a significant (p<0.05) to highly significant (p<0.01) effect on all the traits studied except service period and dry period, where it was not significant. Season of calving had a significant (p<0.05) effect or lactation length and highly significant (p<0.01) effect on lactation milk yield, 305 days milk yield and all the reproductive traits under study. The lowest calving interval, service period and dry period were observed in rainy season calvers and they differed significantly (p<0.01) with winter and summer calvers. Parity had a significant effect (p<0.05) on lactation milk yield, 305 days milk yield and milk yield per day of lactation. Pair-wise comparison revealed that lactation milk yield was highest in the 2nd lactation followed by 3rd and 4th lactation. Large coefficient of variation observed for different traits under study indicates that there is enough scope for improvement in the production and reproduction traits. Better breeding management and selection for increased performance is needed for genetic improvement of these traits
Quantum chaos in the spectrum of operators used in Shor's algorithm
We provide compelling evidence for the presence of quantum chaos in the
unitary part of Shor's factoring algorithm. In particular we analyze the
spectrum of this part after proper desymmetrization and show that the
fluctuations of the eigenangles as well as the distribution of the eigenvector
components follow the CUE ensemble of random matrices, of relevance to
quantized chaotic systems that violate time-reversal symmetry. However, as the
algorithm tracks the evolution of a single state, it is possible to employ
other operators, in particular it is possible that the generic quantum chaos
found above becomes of a nongeneric kind such as is found in the quantum cat
maps, and in toy models of the quantum bakers map.Comment: Title and paper modified to include interesting additional
