A STUDY OF SUSTAINABLE COLORATION OF LYOCELL FABRICS USING EXTRACTS OF TROPICAL ONION SKINS

    Get PDF
Lyocell is considered as a new fiber that represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable textiles.  Lyocell is spun from wood pulp cellulose via a green chemical process with NMMO (N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide) solvent. Following the concept of lower the environmental impact of fashion clothing, this study aims to determine the suitable natural dyes recipes with the color extracting from tropical onion skins. Colorants were extracted by dissolving crushed dried onion skins with boiled in water at 100ºC for 20-25 minutes. The ratio of extracting and dyeing are 1:25 and 1:30 respectively. The optimal dyeing condition was found out at 80ºC, 45 minutes with 75% v/v. In addition, a variety of the most commonly used mordants including Potassium aluminum sulfate, Copper (II) sulphate and Iron (II) sulphate were used for mordanting in order to compare the differently mordanted and unmordanted dyed fabrics via color strength (K/S) and CIE L*a*b* color values. It was found that mordant type had an effect on color strength and the color coordinates of fabric dyed with onion skin, which can supply variety of color choices for the same colorants

ANTIBACTERIAL FINISHING ON COTTON 100% AND CVC FABRICS WITH TANNIN FROM PIPER BETLE EXTRACT

    Get PDF
Following the recent trend of using natural ingredients from bio-macromolecules, biomaterials, plant extract in textile chain, this research aims to develop an antibacterial textiles finishing with Tannin extracted from piper betle plant. The extracting processes were carried out with different solvent: distilled water, Ethanol 30%, Ethanol 50%, Ethanol 70% in 60 minutes. Two important types of fabric, including Cotton and CVC (Cotton/Polyester) were padded with piper betle extracts, then dried at 60oC in 5 minutes. The presence of tannin on fabric after treatment was determined by FeCl3 test and FT-IR spectrum. The antibacterial effect of finished fabrics was proved according to ASTM 2149-01 standard. The test was performed with Escherichia Coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococus aureus AATCC 6538. The final results exhibited good antibacterial activity of 83.02%, 65,33% against the bacteria Ecoli and 93.88 %, 85.14% against the bacteria S.Aureus on cotton and then CVC fabrics

Forest - Related Culture and Contribution to Sustainable Development in the Northern Mountain Region in Vietnam

    Get PDF
The culture of communities living near/in forests indelibly interacts with forest ecosystems, both shaping and adapting to the natural environment. Forest-related cultural dimensions also provide benefits for local economies and social welfare. This study analyses the relationship between local culture and forests of the Tay and the Dao minorities and their contribution to sustainable development in Vo Nhai, a mountainous district in northern Vietnam. The study uses methods of a literature review, participant observation and qualitative interviews with local people. The strong embedded culture with forests that developed over many generations of Tay and Dao people was expressed through their knowledge systems of understanding nature, skills for environmental adaption, health protection and spiritual and recreational activities. The potentials of forest - related culture as a feature of local sustainable development were analysed through contributions in natural resource conservation, economic development and social cohesion. To integrate forest - related culture in sustainable development, some issues need to be better focused on the locality

Lithium carbonate accelerates the healing of apical periodontitis

    Get PDF
Apical periodontitis is a disease caused by bacterial invasions through the root canals. Our previous study reported that lithium chloride (LiCl) had a healing effect on apical periodontitis. The aim of this report is to investigate the healing properties and mechanism of lithium ion (Li+) for apical periodontitis using rat root canal treatment model. 10-week-old male Wistar rat’s mandibular first molars with experimentally induced apical periodontitis underwent root canal treatment and were applied lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) containing intracanal medicament. Base material of the medicament was used as a control. Subject teeth were scanned by micro-CT every week and the periapical lesion volume was evaluated. The lesion volume of Li2CO3 group was significantly smaller than that of the control group. Histological analysis showed that in Li2CO3 group, M2 macrophages and regulatory T cells were induced in the periapical lesion. In situ hybridization experiments revealed a greater expression of Col1a1 in Li2CO3 group compared with the control group. At 24 h after application of intracanal medicament, Axin2-positive cells were distributed in Li2CO3 group. In conclusion, Li2CO3 stimulates Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and accelerate the healing process of apical periodontitis, modulating the immune system and the bone metabolism.Kagioka T., Itoh S., Hue M.T., et al. Establishment of a ground surface temperature map for climate change response on the basis of Landsat 8 OLI satellite images

    Get PDF
In recent years, in Vietnam, there have been studies using the thermal infrared channel to estimate the surface temperature value, studies using Plank's formula to estimate the surface temperature value from the thermal infrared channel without using the surface emissivity, using the emissivity as a common constant for coating objects [1 – 4]. In the area of Bim Son town – Thanh Hoa province – Vietnam, along with the process of urbanization as well as socio-economic development, the quality of the urban environment, surface coverage by plants and use activities have been greatly affected, especially the limestone mining for cement of one of the largest cement plants in the country (Bim Son cement plant) has had a significant impact on the temperature of the area. The monitoring results have not provided an overview of the temperature background of the whole area of Bim Son town in the period of 2017-2023 in order to assess the change in the temperature background of the region, thereby providing solutions to respond to climate change. The article uses Landsat 8 OLI satellite images to establish a surface heat map for the assessment of climate change for the area of Bim Son – Thanh Hoa, thereby making more general assessments for other areas in Vietnam. The experimental results were compared and evaluated to show the relevance of the data as well as the image processing process

Vacuum Stability in Supersymmetric Reduced Minimal 3-3-1 Model

    Get PDF
We investigate the vacuum stability conditions of theSupersymmetric reduced minimal 331 model (SUSYRM331) that createimportant  consequences on  Higgs mass spectrum as well assoft-parameters of the model. We prove that if this condition issatisfied then all Higgses are massive. Furthermore,soft-parameters should be in order of SU(3)LSU(3)_L scale. Based onthis, we investigate in detail masses of CP-even neutral  anddoubly charged Higgses in the model. The  neutral Higgs sectorincludes one light Higgs with mass at tree level mH10mZcos2γ92.0m_{H^0_1}\simeq m_Z|\cos 2\gamma | 92.0 GeV and three other heavy Higgses. Fordoubly charged Higgses, there may exist a light Higgs which can beobserved by recent colliders such as LHC
