AbstractThis paper discusses the design of the prototype model of the online collaborative learning system for introductory computer programming course. The methodology used involves three phases which are the data collection, analysis and design and the implementation phase. Initially, fifty respondents from the first year students of the Diploma in Computer Science in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis, Malaysia have been randomly selected to participate in the data collection phase in order to investigate the students’ interests, learning styles as well as their learning preferences. The results have shown the need for the development of online small group discussions that could facilitate online communication and collaboration from dispersed location, hence encouraging distance learning education. A design of a structure model for an online collaborative learning system has been constructed in order to support the online collaborative learning activities in a virtual environment. The logical designs of the Online Collaborative Learning System or OCLS are being designed using the object-oriented models which are the use-case model and class diagram in order to show the concise processes of virtual “Think-Pair-Share” collaborative activities. The “Think-Pair-Share” collaborative learning technique that is being used in the design structures has been chosen because of its simplicity and relatively low-risk. Later, the physical design of the prototype model is being constructed using the Web-based technologies which are the MySQL database, PHP and Apache web server. This paper also discusses the impact of the online collaborative learning system towards the students’ performance where analysis has shown that the t-test result had a significant value of 0.01, which is less than 0.05 (sig. 2-tailed)

Pair Programming (PP) is a well-known agile software development technique that has been widely implemented in programming classes. Through PP, students are able to share knowledge and expertise that will contribute to better programming solutions. Nevertheless, how PP can help to improve students’ cognitive abilities has yet to be explored. Therefore, this study’s aim was to investigate the impacts of implementing Pair Programming (PP) on students’ logical thinking. Logical thinking is part of the cognitive ability claimed to be one of the crucial factors that determine the success or failure of novice programmers. To achieve this, 60 students who enrolled in Diploma in Computer Science programme in Universiti Teknologi MARA Perlis Branch, Malaysia, were asked to take the pre-test and post-test of Group Assessment Logical Thinking (GALT) Test in the beginning and at the end of the semester. These students were divided into two main groups; Control and Test in the Test Group, students with low logical ability will be paired with their high logical thinking friends. Meanwhile, in the Control Group, no pair programming or collaborative technique took place. Five programming tasks were assigned to both groups to solve either collaboratively or individually. The results obtained via paired sample t-tests statistical analysis shows significant improvements in students’ logical thinking with p-value <0.05 in the Test Grou

Floods are natural disasters that occur due to climate factors. The impact of floods on property and lives can be too high, resulting in the need to establish a monitoring system. FWMS is a personal flood monitoring system that has the ability to call and send warning via SMS. The warning was sent to not only system users, but also directly to the Fire and Rescue Station as floodwaters rose rapidly to dangerous levels. FWMS is developed using Arduino Uno microcontroller, ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04) and GSM SIM900A module. Using FWMS, users can apply for flood status in their area in real time via SMS. In FWMS, there are three different levels of flood warning system. The first is the "normal" level, when the situation is normal. The second is the "warning" level, where an SMS will be sent to the users each time a flood is detected. Meanwhile, the third is known as the "danger" level, which will be sent when the depth of the flood that occurs is detected to be higher. For both levels of “warning†and “dangerâ€, a loud buzzer will be issued as a warning sound notification to users. Three types of tests were performed on the FWMS to measure its level of performance. These tests were functional tests, prototype system tests, and GSM network performance tests. They were done to ensure that FWMS can be used and function properly as required. The tests have produced positive results and it is potentially to be further enhanced

Many studies have been done to find the best formula in building a vehicle with self - driving ability. In order for the vehicle to be smart and able to drive on its own, several factors need to be improved. One of the factors is the ability to make decisions. This research conducted experiments on small - scale mobile robots - also known as robot cars - as prototypes to smart vehicles to find the appropriate value for the driving speed of the vehicle after calibration. The study was conducted using Arduino board hardware, remote robot cars, remote controls for remote robot ca rs, and rotary encoders. Three main experiments were completed to test the calibrated speed values, namely first test on straight line, test on corner lane, and last test on combination of straight path & corner lane. Simulations for road routes are also m ade using cardboard, sandpaper and carpet. The results of experimental analysis found that as the speed of a robot car increases, the longer it takes to make a single wheel rotation

Even though people can make complaints through a computerized system, some places still use the manual system. The manual system is inconvenient for the complainant because they must visit the respective counter to channel the complaints. In addition, the form provided usually consists of long instructions for the complainant to read before channelling the complaint. This paper discusses the development of an e-Complaint System for UiTM Perlis colleges embedded with gamification. In this system, there are three gamification elements included, which are the progress bar, leaderboard, and Avatar selection for personalization.  Two tests were conducted, which are functionality and usability testing through various platforms such as YouTube, 000webhost, and Google Form. There were 33 respondents for the usability testing consisting of students and staff of UiTM Perlis. While the functionality testing was conducted with UiTM Perlis lecturers who have experienced teaching IT subjects. From the responses obtained from the respondents through PPSUQ Survey, most of the respondents agreed that the developed system helped them in channelling complaints and updating the status of their complaints compared to the existing system. The system developed does include some gamification elements which can ease the users to use the e-complaint system in the future. Via this system, users were guided on how to lodge complaints via step-by-step process instead of reading long instructions which could lead them to confusion
