Intimate hygiene for women: expert practice points
Intimate hygiene is an important health aspect of females in day-to-day life. The practices of intimate hygiene vary widely around the globe due to cultural and religious beliefs. Currently, professional recommendations are limited in advising the optimal hygiene practices. Inappropriate practices can be concerning with the possibility of the development of infectious complications. Regular use of hygiene practices can improve overall health and boost self-confidence in females. In this review, we provided our expert suggestions on the importance and standard practices that can be adopted by females worldwide for adequate and effective intimate hygiene
Expert opinion on pre and post procedure care in aesthetic dermatology
In clinical practice, the number of aesthetic dermatology procedures carried out in India is increasing. Nonsurgical or minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology encompasses a variety of procedures, such as chemical peels, laser therapies, dermal fillers, derma rollers and microneedling radiofrequency, which are known to be safe and effective. Despite enormous advances in the field of aesthetic dermatological procedures, many clinicians seem to have limited knowledge about the potential benefits and risks associated with aesthetic procedures. To ensure successful outcome of an aesthetic procedure and to minimise complications, one should be aware of the pre- and post-procedural care involved. This review summarized expert opinion on pre and post-procedural care needed with chemical peels, laser therapies, dermal fillers, derma rollers and microneedling radiofrequency
Vulvar ulcer as a presentation of systemic langerhans cell histiocytosis
We report a 38-year-old housewife with systemic Langerhans cell
histiocytosis (LCH) presenting as a chronic vulvar and peri-anal ulcer.
She had systemic involvement in the form of diabetes insipidus and bone
"hot-spots". She responded favorably to etoposide, 6-mercaptopurine,
and systemic steroids, and has been in remission since 10 years.
Chronic vulvar ulcers not responding to routine therapy should not be
neglected and need to be biopsied repeatedly to come to a specific
diagnosis. The vulvar ulcer in our case provided a vital clue to a
systemic LCH, with a successful outcome
Vulval hidradenoma papilliferum: a clinical and dermoscopic study
Hidradenoma papilliferum (HP) is a rare, slow-growing, benign adnexal tumour with
apocrine differentiation. It usually affects the anogenital region in adult women and
is clinically polymorphous, mimicking other benign or malignant neoformations.
The dermoscopic features of vulval HP have not been reported yet. We report the
clinical and dermoscopic features in a case series of histopathologically proven vulval
HPs. Dermoscopy may be a useful tool for the diagnosis of vulval HP. To our knowledge,
our paper represents the first report of dermoscopic findings in a series of vulval
HPs in a multiracial population
