Transfusion Error in the Gynecology Patient: A Case Review with Analysis
Emergency blood transfusion (EBT) is a life-saving intervention which also carries a significant risk of harm in the event of a transfusion reaction. Our chapter starts with a hypothetical case study of a gynecology patient who underwent emergent hysterectomy with severe hemorrhage managed with an emergency blood transfusion. During the aggressive resuscitation, the patient was inadvertently transfused with blood products that had been allocated for another patient. Through this clinical vignette, we review the operational aspects of an EBT and identify sources of transfusion-related errors. We emphasize best practices that can be implemented with the goal of improved patient safety. This chapter offers a concise, practical review of EBT for our readers

Selain itu, proses analisa data memiliki beberap alangkah, menyalin suara, menyortir fonetik, mengklasifikasikan variasi fonetik tertentu, dan merumuskan persamaan dan perbedaan variasi fonetik dari dua jenis karakter.
Hasil penelitian menunujukan bahwa fonetik variasi pada karakter asli terdapat voiced Alveolar fricative consonant, half-open back rounded vowel, Voiceless alveolar plosive consonant. Pada fonetik variasi dalam non karakter asli terdapat close front unrounded vowels, voiced alveolar approximant consonant, open front unrounded vowel, open back rounded vowel, open front unrounded vowel, produce open back rounded vowel, close front unrounded vowel, voiceless labiodental fricative, voiced labiodental fricative. Interferometric detection of a single vortex in a dilute Bose-Einstein condensate
Using two radio frequency pulses separated in time we perform an amplitude
division interference experiment on a rubidium Bose-Einstein condensate. The
presence of a quantized vortex, which is nucleated by stirring the condensate
with a laser beam, is revealed by a dislocation in the fringe pattern.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Generation and evolution of vortex-antivortex pairs in Bose-Einstein condensates
We propose a method for generating and controlling a spatially separated
vortex--antivortex pair in a Bose-Einstein condensate trapped in a toroidal
potential. Our simulations of the time dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation show
that in toroidal condensates vortex dynamics are different from the dynamics in
the homogeneous case. Our numerical results agree well with analytical
calculations using the image method. Our proposal offers an effective example
of coherent generation and control of vortex dynamics in atomic condensates.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
Coherently Scattering Atoms from an Excited Bose-Einstein Condensate
We consider scattering atoms from a fully Bose-Einstein condensed gas. If we
take these atoms to be identical to those in the Bose-Einstein condensate, this
scattering process is to a large extent analogous to Andreev reflection from
the interface between a superconducting and a normal metal. We determine the
scattering wave function both in the absence and the presence of a vortex. Our
results show a qualitative difference between these two cases that can be
understood as due to an Aharonov-Bohm effect. It leads to the possibility to
experimentally detect and study vortices in this way.Comment: 5 pages of ReVTeX and 2 postscript figure

High polarization photocathode R D at SLAC
This paper describes recent progress on the development of high polarization photocathodes for polarized electron sources. A strained InGaAs cathode has achieved a maximum electron-spin polarization of 71% and has demonstrated the strain enhancement of polarization for the first time. Strained GaAs cathodes have yielded polarizations as high as 90% with much higher quantum efficiency

Strain enhanced electron spin polarization observed in photoemision from InGaAs
Electron spin polarization in excess of 70% has been observed in photoemission from a 0.1 {mu}m-thick epitaxial layer of In{sub x}Ga{sub 1-x}As with x {approx} 0.13 grown on a GaAs substrate. Under these conditions, the epitaxial layer is expected to be highly strained by the 0.9% lattice mismatch, as confirmed by X-ray diffractometer measurements of the lattice parameter. The electron polarization and the quantum efficiency have been measured as a function of the excitation photon energy from 1.25 to 2.0 eV. A significant enhancement of the electron polarization occurs in the vicinity of 1.33 eV where the expected strain-induced level splitting permits optical excitation of a single band transition. Measurements made on a control sample of 1.14 {mu}m thickness, significantly larger than the critical thickness for pseudomorphic strain, show no polarization enhancement. These measurements represent the first observation of strain-enhanced electron spin polarization for photoemitted electrons. 7 refs., 3 figs
