EFFECTS OF SEGMENTATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL ANIMATION IN FACILITATING LEARNING

    Get PDF
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of segmented-animation, playpause- animation and continuous-animation in facilitating learning of low prior knowledge learners. A courseware prototype entitled Transmission Media was developed for the research purpose. The courseware contains nine animations on various topics in Transmission Media. Pre-test and post-test experimental design was employed on three different groups respectively. The data collected were analyzed statistically by using one-way between-groups ANOVA with post-hoc comparisons. Apparently, the result suggests that segmented-animation was significantly more effective than play-pause-animation and continuous-animation in enhancing students’ learning performance. The result indicates that segmented-animation was beneficial for students in conducting adequate cognitive processes of the information depicted in the animation. Furthermore, the result shows that allowing students to decide the segmentation in play-pause-animation condition does not necessarily promotes better learning. This was due to low prior knowledge students’ inability in deciding the appropriate stop points in animation and/or play-pause-replay button design that might causes split attention effect resulting extraneous cognitive load throughout the learning process

This paper discusses the success factors (SFs) of the entrepreneurship programme available in Malaysian community colleges. The benefit of the Modified Nominal Group Technique (NGT) approach carried out aims to achieve understanding of the usability test and evaluation of the SFs framework. The objective of this study is to identify the usability and evaluation of lecturers on the elements of entrepreneurship for four domain areas, strategy, environment, temporal and industry. The analysis covers the importance of SFs framework development, which determines the type of framework to use as reference in carrying out the entrepreneurship programme in Malaysian community colleges. In the usability test and evaluation process, 21 experts were chosen from three types of community college, from whom seven lecturers were allocated to each programme based on the understanding of the lecturers. Questionnaires were distributed to seek lecturer consensus. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0 was used to analyse and find the percentage of consensus for each domain within the framework. This was to find the percentage of expert consensus against the SFs framework. The result of the analysis shows more than 75% acceptance and consensus for the functionality of SFs. Basically, this analysis is capable of providing reference and guidelines for the development of a SFs framework. Therefore, the analysis is able to provide information and reference for future researchers to explore the domain of entrepreneurship

    Get PDF
Green Technology refers to clean energy production, the use of alternative fuels, and technologies that are less harmful to the environment than fossil fuels. It has garnered a significant amount of interest due to increasing awareness about the impacts of climate change and the depletion of natural resources. While the buildings emit more carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases than other industries, the use of Green Technology will be able to reduce human impacts on the natural environment and prevent climate change. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the Green Technology Elements for Construction Technology in Vocational College that is seen fundamental as these students will be in the construction workforce in the future. The study was conducted using the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) involving a combination of 20 experts with various expertise from a heterogeneous group. A set of questionnaires using a 7-point Likert Scale was formed based on expert interviews in the first phase of this study and the data obtained were then analysed using triangular fuzzy numbers and ranking for each variable was determined using the defuzzification process. The findings showed that all elements listed reached the experts’ consensus. Expert consensus also found that the Carbon Initiatives element ranked first meanwhile the Introduction to Green Technology element ranked last in the list of elements. These elements are agreed upon in preparing academically exemplary individuals while ensuring every graduate from Vocational College, especially from the Construction Technology course is equipped with job-ready skills to tackle real-life problems.
