This article is aimed at describing the influence that foreign direct investments have on a recipient economy, as this study focuses on the changes that foreign direct investments imposed on Romanian economy. In principle, foreign direct investment should enhance one economy's results as they pump capital, the vital fluid of any successful enterprise, completing or replacing own capital, as the economy becomes interesting because of its raw material resources, financial facilities or human resource. Numerical modeling of buried pipes with flowable fill as a backfill material

The objective of this research work was to perform a numerical analysis of pipe deformations when flowable fill is used as a backfill material around buried plastic corrugated pipes. The flowable fill materials used in this study contained varying proportions of fly ash, bottom ash, river sand, and cement. The stiffness properties of CLSM backfill materials were back calculated from experimental data obtained under various trench width ratios. The stiffness properties of HDPE pipes were calculated based on the data provided by the pipe manufacturer. Finite element models of HDPE pipes with varying trench widths were developed for laboratory conditions. The experimental variables included: trench width, pipe diameter, in-situ soil strength, backfill strength, and external loading. The numerical results were compared with that of the experimental data. In addition to modeling laboratory conditions, finite element models for 18-inch (45.7 cm) and 24-inch (61 cm) diameter pipes were developed for field conditions. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)

Mapping of 3D Space Using LIDAR Data

Import 22/07/2015V dnešní době má mapování okolního prostoru obrovské využití v mnoha technických odvětvích. Příkladem může být jeho použití pro lokalizaci automobilů a jiných vozidel, dále pak realistické 3D modely budov nebo jiných prostor a v neposlední řadě má velké uplatnění v robotice. Jednou z nejpoužívanějších a nejzajímavějších metod mapování je v současnosti mapování pomocí technologie LIDAR, respektive pomocí LIDARového skeneru. V této práci popisuji několik základních metod pro mapování a také implementaci jedné z nich.There are a lot of different technical fields in which is mapping of 3D space used these days. A good example can be it’s use for localization of cars and other vehicles, then realistic 3D models of buildings or other areas and last but not least has a big use in robotics. One of the most widely used and the most interesting method of mapping is mapping by using LIDAR technology or by using LIDAR scanner.
