To assess safety of the switch between natalizumab and fingolimod without a washout period. Methods: Prospective data on 25 JCV positive patients who underwent this medication switch were collected and analyzed. Results: After a median period of nine months from the medication switch, there were no safety issues to report. The patients had good disease control and no adverse events were reported. Conclusion: Washout may not be necessary in daily practice when switching from natalizumab to fingolimod. Avaliação fitossociológica da comunidade infestante em áreas de transição para o café orgânico.

Objetivou-se com este trabalho verificar os efeitos dos insumos orgânicos e convencionais na dinâmica de plantas daninhas da lavoura durante o primeiro e o segundo ano de transição agroecológica. Para isso, montou-se um experimento em um cafezal de seis anos, onde iniciou-se a transição para o sistema de cultivo orgânico. A espécie mais importante no primeiro ano da transição, na maioria das áreas avaliadas, foi Ageratum conyzoides; no segundo ano ocorreu considerável mudança na relação de dominância entre as espécies, destacando-se Leunurus sibiricus na maior parte das áreas estudadas. Ocorreu também aumento do número de espécies presentes na maioria das áreas de um ano para o outro. No segundo ano de transição observou-se decréscimo na diversidade de espécies em relação ao primeiro ano. Dessa forma, pode-se concluir que nos dois anos de avaliação verificaram-se mudanças no número, na diversidade e na relação de importância entre as espécies de um ano para o outro

Gender Equality Policies in STEM in Latin America - A Systematic Literature Review

As the imperative for equitable representation in leadership roles within STEM grows more pronounced, the meticulous examination of existing policies that promote gender equality becomes increasingly vital. This scrutiny not only paves the way for progress but also fosters a culture of social inclusion. This research provides a snapshot of one facet of an ongoing, comprehensive research initiative dedicated to advancing impactful research on women’s leadership within STEM domains across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Specifically, this study undertakes the crucial task of identifying gender equality policies in the dynamic landscape of Latin America and the associated literature corpus. To achieve this, we conducted a systematic literature review, employing four reputable citation databases as our primary resources. The findings of our inquiry illuminate the multifaceted challenges associated with acquiring cross-country comparable data—essential for the assessment of policies and interventions designed to mitigate the pervasive gender gap in STEM. This study contributes by identifying the academic discourse on the topic and offering data for policymakers and researchers interested in improving women’s participation in STEM and promoting enduring gender equality. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024
