Evidence on Rationality in Commercial Property Markets: An Interpretation and Critique
Periodic sharp sustained increases and then reversals in asset prices lead many to posit irrational price bubbles. The general case for irrationality is that real asset prices simply have moved too much given the future real cash flows the assets are reasonably likely to produce. A corollary for property is that observed mean reversion in real cash flows is not reflected in investor valuations, resulting in asset values being too high when real cash flows are high and vice versa. In this paper we interpret, critique and extend existing analyses of movements in real commercial property prices during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Does Experience With IT Vendors/Consultants Influence Small Business Computer Education Requirements ?
Our need for certainty in an uncertain world: the difference between special education and inclusion?
Despite decades of effort to achieve inclusive education systems, the emphasis on special education persists. This article explores the contradictory impulses that underpin these two concepts and considers whether they can be brought together. It does this through the development of two models; a model of certainty and a ‘model of uncertainty’. These models seek to represent and create a platform for thinking about the emergence and perpetuation of these two contradictory impulses and how these contradictions are experienced and might be resolved.publishedVersio
Validity of a contact mat and accelerometric system to assess countermovement jump from flight time
Countermovement jump (CMJ) height is an important parameter in physical performance. This study compared CMJ height measured using ChronoJump contact mat (CJ) and Myotest accelerometer (MT) systems with a force platform (FP). Thirty recreationally active adults (32.1 ± 10.4 years, 75.9 ± 12.0 kg, 173.2 ± 6.3 cm) completed a CMJ protocol where height was simultaneously recorded using the three systems. CJ and MT measures were strongly and significant correlated (r = 0.65, 0.66, respectively; p 0.05), yet MT-derived measures were significantly different from those obtained using the FP (p < 0.05). Systematic bias was observed between FP and the CJ and between FP and MT. This study demonstrates the validity of CJ and MT systems for the assessment of CMJ height. Systematic bias and between-device differences in measurement should be considered when interpreting and comparing data from these devices
Including All the Lines
I present a progress report on including all the lines in the linelists,
including all the lines in the opacities, including all the lines in the model
atmosphere and spectrum synthesis calculations, producing high-resolution,
high-signal-to-noise atlases that show (not quite) all the lines, so that
finally we can determine the properties of stars from a few of the lines.Comment: 9 pages, no figures. Presented at "Dimitrifest" conference in

Letter from Robert M. MacGregor to Hubert Creekmore (14 May 1954)
MacGregor writes from New York City on New Directions Publishing Corporation letterhead to Creekmore in Jackson, Mississippi. He states that Kenneth Patchen\u27s The Famous Boating Party has been ordered for Creekmore, and he can include a copy of Dylan Thomas\u27s Under Milk Wood. He asks if Creekmore would be interested in Tennessee Williams\u27s Hard Candy. He mentions Creekmore\u27s essay on Memphis, Tennessee, in Holiday Magazine, and Williams\u27s grandfather Walter Daken. He praises The Chain in the Heart and relays a conversation with Frank Taylor about the Huntington-Hartford Foundation. He states that James Laughlin is in Japan. Includes envelope.https://egrove.olemiss.edu/creekmore/1210/thumbnail.jp

Electronic Commerce Adoption Barriers in Indonesian Small Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs): An Exploratory Study
This research seeks to explore and detect underlying relationships between identifiable barriers of electronic commerce (ecommerce) adoption in Indonesian small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A quantitative pilot study was conducted through a mail survey to collect the relevant data from several cities in three provinces in Indonesia, namely West Java, Bali and DKI Jakarta. The inter-correlations among the barriers influential to the e-commerce adoption decision demanded the application of principal component analysis to determine the factors perceived to dictate e-commerce adoption decision outcomes. The results of the analysis indicate that correlations between the barriers do exist and that the barriers can be grouped according to four distinct factors: the difficulty of implementing e-commerce, the unsuitability of e-commerce to the business, the uncomfortability in communicating and choosing standards in business online, as well as the inapplicability to the current business needs
