The main goal of this study was to assess antiarrhythmic activity of novel aminoalkyl derivatives of imidazo[2,1-f]purine-2,4-dione and imidazolidine-2,4-dione exerting α1 and 5-HT1A receptors affinity. Tested compounds produced prophylactic and therapeutic antiarrhythmic activity in an adrenaline-induced model of arrhythmia. The strongest antiarrhythmic activity as well as the highest α1-adrenoreceptor affinity (Ki = 13.9 nM) was found for 5-methyl-5-phenyl-3-[3-(4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl)propyl]-imidazolidine-2,4- dione (12). The results indicated a correlation between α1-adrenoreceptor affinities and antiarrhythmic activity

Celem pracy jest porównanie wyników badań tomografii komputerowej (CT) głowy i tomografii emisyjnej pojedynczego fotonu (SPECT) u chorych ze zwężeniem tętnicy szyjnej wewnętrznej przed endarterektomią i po zabiegu. Badanie SPECT mózgu wykonano gamma kamerą firmy Siemens typu DIACOM GANTRY NM, podając dożylnie preparat HMPAO znakowany jodem 99mTc. Badanie CT głowy wykonano aparatem ART firmy Siemens wiązką promieni X biegnącą równolegle do płaszczyzny oczodołowo-usznej przy napięciu prądu 120 kV i ładunku 70 mAs. Grubość warstwy i przesuw wynosi 10 mm i 5 mm w celu uwidocznienia struktur tylnojamowych. Analizowano procent wychwytu radioznacznika w obrębie poszczególnych ognisk niedokrwiennych i całych płatów, porównując z bliźniaczym obszarem strony przeciwnej. Przed wykonaniem endarterektomii w badaniu CT głowy wykazano obecność zmian u 7 chorych, zaś w badaniu SPECT uwidoczniono zaburzenia przepływu mózgowego we wszystkich przypadkach. The purpose of this paper is to present comparison between classical head computed tomography (CT) and Single Photon Emission CT (SPECT) imaging in patients with internal carotid artery stenosis before and after of endarterectomy. Single Photon Emission CT examinations were performed using gamma camera (Siemens), model DIACOM GANTRY NM, with intravenous application of HMPAO with 99mTc. Computed tomography examinations were performed using Siemens ART. Slice thickness was 10 mm and 5 mm for posterior fossa imaging. A group of 16 patients was analysed. There were 6 females and 10 males aged 49-71 years (mean 58.5). Six patients had ischemic cerebral stroke and 2 patients had TIA incidents during last 3-10 months before surgical treatment. One patient had asymptomatic stenosis of ICC with pronounced murmur. In all patients stenosis of ICA of 75-85% was seen in doppler examination. Computed tomography examinations performed befor endarterectomy showed changes in 7 cases of stroke. Single Photon Emission CT examinations performed before surgery in all cases showed focal disturbances of cerebral blood flow (reduced uptake or cumulation defect of 99mTc-HMPAO). Examinations repeated after endarterectomy showed improvement of cerebral blood flow with increased marker uptake. Single Photon Emission CT is a successfull method for monitoring cerebral blood flow changes as a result of endarterectom

Journalists in social media. A case study of Krzysztof Skórzyński’s (Fakty TVN) Facebook and Twitter profiles

    No full text
Newspaper, radio and television editorial teams now run their accounts on social networking websites. They are, without a doubt, one of many ways of promotion for the journalists and their materials. The author of the article took into comparison one month’s worth of activity of a journalist Krzysztof Skórzyński in social media on two platforms: Twitter and Facebook and chose October 2013 as the time the analysis was undertaken. The process of comparing the gathered material was an attempt to demonstrate which medium was used more frequently by Krzysztof Skórzyński. In addition, by comparing the statements on both websites the relationship in the subjects of the published materials could also be noticed. During the time the research took place Krzysztof Skórzyński served his duty hours in the Fakty news desk for 18 days. It means that he was responsible for the preparation of 18 news items broadcast on TVN in the main news coverage programme. By dint of the recordings gathered by the author of the article it can be observed which news item had been prepared by the journalist on a given day and to what degree it correlated with Skórzyński’s entries on his social media profiles

The aim of this thesis is to present the ways of depicting the experience of mental health crisis in teen dramas. The work consists of three chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the changes that television has undergone in recent years. The specificity of Netflix has been shown compared to other streaming platforms and traditional forms of series distribution. Moreover, using the cultural analysis of the genre proposed by Jason Mittell, the general characteristics of teen drama have been presented. The second chapter is devoted to selected representations of madness in contemporary TV series and media discourses on mental disorders. The third chapter deals with the analysis of the series "13 Reasons Why". The characteristics of the narrative techniques highlight the subjective perspectives that develop through the narrative. In addition, the analysis will be enriched with threads related to the reception of the series taking into account how the issue of mental health crisis resonates in the media discourse about production

Individual differences in visual and auditory processing of emotional material

    No full text
Presented studies investigated the specificity of visual and auditory modalities in attentional processing of emotion, and its association with temperamental dimensions and trait-like attentional control (AC). During preliminary study 30 participants were presented with the paper-pencil visual search task (Emotional Faces Attentional Test) and emotional prosody detection tasks (Emotional Prosody Test). Results revealed visual happiness superiority and auditory sadness superiority. During the main study, in addition to attentional performance, 51 subjects were administrated two questionnaires: EPQ-R and Attentional Control Scale. Introducing individual differences into analysis limited the general pattern of modality distinctiveness in attentional processing of emotional stimuli obtained in the preliminary study. Findings for all personality traits studied separately showed that Extraversion and low Neuroticism were associated with the visual sadness superiority. Whereas interactional analysis indicated effective visual threat processing in extraverts with good AC and effective friendly prosody detection when Neuroticism and AC remain in inverse relationship. Hence, we have found that processing emotional targets in both modalities is associated with temperament dimensions and their interactions with attentional control. Additionally, findings from both studies suggest that general psychological laws might be challenged by individual differences
