Verification of Plasticity Theory with Isotropic Hardening and Additive Decomposition of Left Deformation Tensor Using Digital Image Correlation System

    No full text
abstractEN: The development of measurement methods, and in particular digital image correlation (DIC) systems, which are designed to measure of entire displacements and deformations fields, opens up new areas of research. In general, the materials constitutive relations are formulated in such a way that material parameters could be determined with relatively simple experimental tests carried out on samples with uniform (approximately) stress and strain fields. Then it is possible to apply them to complex boundary value problems formulated e.g. in the small or large deformation theories. The application of DIC allows to verify the accuracy of their predictions by comparing the results of the experiment with solutions to boundary value problems obtained using the finite element method (FEM).score: 5collation: 61-6

The concept of the system for parameterization of functionalized membranes

    No full text
abstractEN: Microbial biofilm formation on membrane surface layer (biofouling) impedes filtration processes through increased material-and energy consumption and causes the risk of contamination by microorganisms and their metabolites. Due to the constantly growing resistance of microorganisms to the commonly used methods of prevention, it is necessary to develop functionalised materials and coatings of stable, non-specific, and effective antimicrobial properties. The integral step in the process of the development of such materials and coatings is universal and reliable testing under process conditions. The intensity of biological fouling is proportional to the microbial cell concentration in the system. Potentially present organisms are systematically varied and may include bacteria, fungi, and microscopic plants. The most convenient and universal method for microbial cell concentration assessment features the measurement of optical density of the liquid. Moreover, biofilm formation is dependent on the physiochemical factors, such as temperature, the chemical composition of feed liquid, membrane material, process flows, and pressures, etc. Additionally, process conditions may affect the activity of the functionalised material used for membrane formation. For this purpose, an integrated approach for multiparameteric assessment is needed, taking into account the measurements of the above listed parameters and allowing for comparisons. The proposed modular test stand includes a number of actuators and measurement sensors, which enable the following control functions: the control over the process fluid flow, the control over the emission on the test object of electromagnetic radiation in the required spectrum, and implementation of the optical density measurements of the fluid. The whole installation test is placed in one closed cubature of controlled thermal conditions. The control system allows the recording and archiving of process data, which are collected (on-line) by a PLC and transferred to a PC via Ethernet interface. Dedicated software application on the PC provides a preliminary analysis and allows remote monitoring via a web browser. Remote access to measurement data can also be used for the creation of a network of series of such test stands, in which different aspects of the studied phenomenon are simultaneously analysed and controlled as the modules of a network control system (NCS). The described system will allow the multiparameteric, universal and reliable assessment of antimicrobial properties of functionalised membranes under process conditions. The modular character of the proposed approach will be fully reconfigurable and adaptive for a wide range of membrane types. The results to be obtained will support the process of sustainable membrane development.score: 0collation: 3-1

Do realizacji pilotażowej modernizacji stanowiska produkcyjnego wykorzystano prasę mimośrodową Instytutu Technik Wytwarzania Politechniki Warszawskiej. Układ napędowy i sterownia zmodernizowano, zakładając wymianę kluczowych danych diagnostycznych z systemem sterowania nadrzędnego. Kolejno ruchomiono systemu akwizycji danych procesowych oparty o urządzenia Kistler maXYmos TL. Całość dopełnia system SCADA wraz z aplikacją administracyjną, które za pośrednictwem odpowiedniego aparatu matematycznego, dążą do realizacji koncepcji predyktywnego utrzymania ruchu i określenia zużycia narzędzia.abstractEN: The concept of the Industry 4.0 revolution is related to increasing e ciency, elasticity of production and improving the quality of life. Industry 4.0 has several technical tools that, implements communication between components of machine via the Internet. The mechanical press of the Institute of Manufacturing Technologies at Warsaw University of Technology was used to implement the pilot modernization to Industry 4.0 standard. The control and drive system were upgraded assuming exchange of key diagnostic data with the master control system. The process data acquisition system based on Kistler maXYmos TL was launched. The whole is complemented by SCADA system and administrative application, which using appropriate mathematical calculations realize the concept of predictive maintenance and calculates the tool wear.score: 9collation: 21-2

Influence of severe plastic deformation induced by HE and ECAP on the thermo-physical properties of metals

    No full text
abstractEN: The study is aimed at comparing the changes which occur in the microstructure and thermo-physical properties of pure copper (99.9%) and when copper alloyed with chromium and zirconium subjected to severe plastic deformation (SPD). The plastic deformation techniques employed were hydrostatic extrusion (HE), equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), and a combination of these two processes. The materials thus obtained had an ultra-fine-grained structure with the thermo-physical properties differing from those of the untreated materials. It appeared that there is a correlation between the deformation method employed and the thermo-physical properties of the materials, such as diffusivity and specific heat.score: 8collation: 278-28

abstractPL: Praca zawiera wstępne wyniki badań nad zastosowaniem metody interferometrii siatkowej do pomiaru przemieszczeń i odkształceń w powłokach Ti i Cu natryskiwanych na podłożu Al2O3. Na podstawie wyznaczonych odkształceń obliczono naprężenia własne, które zweryfikowano poprzez podpowierzchniowe badanie naprężeń własnych w powłokach metodą dyfracji rentgenowskiej (X-ray) oraz za pomocą pomiarów krzywizny wygięcia próbekabstractEN: The paper presents the initial results of application of the high sensitivity grating interferometry (GI) method in order to measure the displacement and strain fields in copper and titanium coatings thermally sprayed onto alumina ceramic (Al2O3). The residual stresses had been relieved by iterative cutting method, which was applied twice. The displacement maps of u and v were measured after each cut and εxx and εyy maps were calculated. The results clearly show the presence of εxx strains relieved along the second cut. The comparison of both samples confirmed that residual strains in Ti/Al2O3 are more significant than in Cu/Al2O3 system. The result after relevant postprocessing had been supplemented with the sub-surface principal residual stresses measured in the selected point by the x-ray diffraction method and curvature measurements.score: 5collation: 174-18
