Polymorphisms of CYP1A1 I462V and GSTM1 genotypes and lung cancer susceptibility in Mongolian
Aim: To study the genotype of cytochrome P450 1A1(CYP1A1) I462V and glutathions S-transferase M1( GSTM1) and the relationship of the genetic polymorphism of them with the susceptibility of lung cancer in Mongolia of China. 

Methods: Allele-specific PCR and a multiplex PCR were employed to identify the genotypes of I462V of CYP1A1 and GSTM1 in a case-control study of 210 lung cancer patients with bronchoscopy diagnosis and 210 matched controls free of malignancy.

Results: The frequencies of the variant CYP1A1(Val/Val) genotypes and GSTM1(-) in lung cancer groups were higher than that in control groups (15.24% vs 7.4% and 56.67% vs 40.95% ). The individuals who carried with CYP1A1(Val/Val) or GSTM1(-) genotype had a significantly higher risk of lung cancer, the OR is 2.56 and 1.89 respectively. Stratified histologically the relative risk increased to 2.6 - fold when the patients carried with two valine alleles than the ones carried one valine allele in cases of SCC. GSTM1(-) genotype is the risk factor of SCC (OR=2.39) and AC(OR=2.16). The presence of at least one Val allele of CYP1A1 and GSTM1(-), the risk of lung cancer was increased, the OR was 4.15 for one Val allele and GSTM1(-) and 2.67 for two Val alleles and GSTM1 Considering ages and smoking status, the risk of lung cancer increased when the age less than 50 who carried with CYP1A1 valine (one or two) alleles or the age during the 51 to 65 who carried with GSTM1(-) genotype. The light smokers with CYP1A1 valine alleles and GSTM1(-) have a high risk for lung cancer. No association was found between the light and heavy drinkers with the susceptibility of lung cancer and the genetic polymorphisms of CYP1A1 I462V and GSTM1(-). 

Conclusion: The valine allele of CYP1A1 was the risk factors of lung cancer especially for SCC and GSTM1(-) also was the risk factor of lung cancer and especially for SCC and AC of Mongolian, China. Light smoking has a influence each other with genotype of CYP1A1 I462V and GSTM1(-) and susceptibility of lung cancer. No relationship was found between the susceptibility of lung cancer and drinkers with genetic polymorphisms of CYP1A1 I462V and GSTM1(-). The influence of genotypes on the susceptibility of lung cancer may depend on the ages. There may be a synergetic interaction between CYP1A1 valine allele and GSTM1(-) genotypes on the elevated susceptibility of lung cancer. So do those genotypes with light smokers. Experimental Test of Tracking the King Problem
In quantum theory, the retrodiction problem is not as clear as its classical
counterpart because of the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics. In
classical physics, the measurement outcomes of the present state can be used
directly for predicting the future events and inferring the past events which
is known as retrodiction. However, as a probabilistic theory,
quantum-mechanical retrodiction is a nontrivial problem that has been
investigated for a long time, of which the Mean King Problem is one of the most
extensively studied issues. Here, we present the first experimental test of a
variant of the Mean King Problem, which has a more stringent regulation and is
termed "Tracking the King". We demonstrate that Alice, by harnessing the shared
entanglement and controlled-not gate, can successfully retrodict the choice of
King's measurement without knowing any measurement outcome. Our results also
provide a counterintuitive quantum communication to deliver information hidden

Mitochondrial and nuclear ribosomal DNA dataset supports that Paramphistomum leydeni (Trematoda: Digenea) is a distinct rumen fluke species
BACKGROUND: Rumen flukes parasitize the rumen and reticulum of ruminants, causing paramphistomiasis. Over the years, there has been considerable debate as to whether Paramphistomum leydeni and Paramphistomum cervi are the same or distant species. METHODS: In the present study, the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of P. leydeni was amplified using PCR-based sequencing and compared with that of P. cervi. The second internal transcribed spacer (ITS-2) of nuclear ribosomal DNA (rDNA) of P. leydeni specimens (n = 6) and P. cervi specimens (n = 8) was amplified and then sequenced. Phylogenetic relationship of the concatenated amino acid sequence data for 12 protein-coding genes of the two rumen flukes and selected members of Trematoda was evaluated using Bayesian inference (BI). RESULTS: The complete mt genome of P. leydeni was 14,050 bp in size. Significant nucleotide difference between the P. leydeni mt genome and that of P. cervi (14.7%) was observed. For genetic divergence in ITS-2, sequence difference between P. leydeni and P. cervi was 3.1%, while no sequence variation was detected within each of them. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that P. leydeni and P. cervi are closely-related but distinct rumen flukes. CONCLUSIONS: Results of the present study support the proposal that P. leydeni and P. cervi represent two distinct valid species. The mt genome sequences of P. leydeni provide plentiful resources of mitochondrial markers, which can be combined with nuclear markers, for further comparative studies of the biology of P. leydeni and its congeners from China and other countries. Enhancement of polarization in a spin-orbit coupling quantum wire with a constriction
We investigate the enhancement of spin polarization in a quantum wire in the
presence of a constriction and a spin-orbit coupling segment. It is shown that
the spin-filtering effect is significantly heightened in comparison with the
configuration without the constriction. It is understood in the studies that
the constriction structure plays a critical role in enhancing the spin
filtering by means of confining the incident electrons to occupy one channel
only while the outgoing electrons occupy two channels. The enhancement of
spin-filtering has also been analyzed within the perturbation theory. Because
the spin polarization arises mainly from the scattering between the
constriction and the segment with spin-orbit coupling, the sub-band mixing
induced by spin-orbit interaction in the scattering process and the
interferences result in higher spin-filtering effect.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figure
Comparative analysis of layered structures in empirical investor networks and cellphone communication networks
Empirical investor networks (EIN) proposed by
\cite{Ozsoylev-Walden-Yavuz-Bildik-2014-RFS} are assumed to capture the
information spreading path among investors. Here, we perform a comparative
analysis between the EIN and the cellphone communication networks (CN) to test
whether EIN is an information exchanging network from the perspective of the
layer structures of ego networks. We employ two clustering algorithms
(-means algorithm and break algorithm) to detect the layer structures
for each node in both networks. We find that the nodes in both networks can be
clustered into two groups, one that has a layer structure similar to the
theoretical Dunbar Circle corresponding to that the alters in ego networks
exhibit a four-layer hierarchical structure with the cumulative number of 5,
15, 50 and 150 from the inner layer to the outer layer, and the other one
having an additional inner layer with about 2 alters compared with the Dunbar
Circle. We also find that the scale ratios, which are estimated based on the
unique parameters in the theoretical model of layer structures
\citep{Tamarit-Cuesta-Dunbar-Sanchez-2018-PNAS}, conform to a log-normal
distribution for both networks. Our results not only deepen our understanding
on the topological structures of EIN, but also provide empirical evidence of

Deep Neural Network for Robust Speech Recognition With Auxiliary Features From Laser-Doppler Vibrometer Sensor
Recently, the signal captured from a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) sensor been used to improve the noise robustness automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems by enhancing the acoustic signal prior to feature extraction. This study proposes another approach in which auxiliary features extracted from the LDV signal are used alongside conventional acoustic features to further improve ASR performance based on the use of a deep neural network (DNN) as the acoustic model. While this approach is promising, the best training data sets for ASR do not include LDV data in parallel with the acoustic signal. Thus, to leverage such existing large-scale speech databases, a regres- sion DNN is designed to map acoustic features to LDV features. This regression DNN is well trained from a limited size parallel signal data set, then used to form pseudo-LDV features from a massive speech data set for parallel training of an ASR system. Our experiments show that both the features from the limited scale LDV data set as well as the massive scale pseudo-LDV features are able to train an ASR system that significantly outperforms one using acoustic features alone, in both quiet and noisy environments
A new regime for mechanical annealing and strong sample-size strengthening in body centred cubic molybdenum
Because of crystal symmetry, body centred cubic (BCC) metals have large differences in lattice friction between screw and edge dislocations, and manifest generally different mechanical behaviours from face centred cubic (FCC) metals. Although mechanical annealing (significant drop in stored dislocation density in response to applied stress) has been observed in FCC metals, it has not been observed in BCC metals so far. Here we show that significant mechanical annealing does occur in BCC Mo pillars, when their diameters decrease to hundreds of nanometers. In addition, there exists a critical diameter for focused ion beam milled pillars, below which the strengthening exponent increases dramatically, from ~0.3 to ~1.
