The transporter's impact on channel coordination and contractual agreements

    Get PDF
This dissertation focuses on the recent supply chain initiatives, such as Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Third-Party Logistics (3PL), enabling the coordination of supply chain entities; e.g., suppliers, buyers, and transporters. With these initiatives, substantial savings are realizable by carefully coordinating inventory, transportation, and pricing decisions. The impact is particularly tangible when the transporter's role and the transportation costs are explicitly incorporated into decision mechanisms that aim to coordinate the supply channel. Furthermore, expanding the perspective of channel coordination by introducing the transporter as an individual party in the channel provides tangible benefits for each member of the channel. Recognizing the need for further analytical research in the field of multi-echelon inventory and channel coordination, we developed and solved a class of integrated inventory and transportation models with explicit shipment consolidation considerations. Moreover, we examined transporter-buyer and supplier-transporter-buyer channels and solved centralized and decentralized models for these channels with the aim of investigating the impact of transporters on channel performance. In this dissertation, we also developed efficient coordination mechanisms between the transporter and the other parties in the channel

The study was carried out in order to determine the university preferences of pre-service teacher and their level of belonging to the university, and to reveal the relationship between them. The Preferring University Scale developed by Apaydın and Seçkin-Kapucu (2017) was used to determine the reasons for pre-service teachers university preference, and the Scale of Belonging to the University developed by Kahraman (2013) to determine the level of belonging to the university. The level of pre-service teachers preference for university%253B While informing about the university, job opportunities, geographical location, financial opportunities, close acquaintances, educational material, students studying at the university are considered within the scope of the effect of high school education%253B students%252339%253B university affiliation%253B were examined within the scope of expectation, motivation, and identification dimensions.Data were obtained from 271 pre-service teachers studying at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Education. The data obtained from the pre-service teachers were analyzed with the SPSS-23 program, t-Test, ANOVA tests and correlation analysis were used in the data analysis. When the results of the research were evaluated, it was determined that the mean scores of pre-service teachers regarding the level of preference and belonging to the university were at a moderate level. It was determined that the levels of pre-service teachers%252339%253B preference and belonging to the university differed significantly according to the variables of gender, university department, reasons for choosing the university, place of residence, and the type of high school they graduated from. It has been determined that there is a moderate relationship between the reasons why pre-service teachers prefer the university and the level of belonging to the university

SUMMARY: Küçükevcilioğlu M, Mutlu FM, Sarıcı SÜ. Ocular morbidities of premature children with mild or no retinopathy of prematurity. Turk J Pediatr 2015; 57: 129-135. This study reports the ocular and neurologic outcomes at 3 years of age of preterm children with mild or no retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). We were able to compile data from the medical records of 119 out of 585 (20.3%) children with mild and no ROP, who were screened between March 1999 and March 2012. There were 52 children with mild ROP and 67 with no ROP. In terms of ROP-related risk factors, the mild ROP and no ROP groups showed significant differences in birth weight (p<0.001) and gestational age (p<0.001), as well as in the presence of mechanical ventilation (p=0.04), respiratory distress syndrome (p=0.003), blood transfusion (p=0.006) and sepsis (p=0.024). However, both groups seemed identical in terms of the distribution of refractive errors, presence of strabismus, presence of unfavorable structural or functional outcome, and presence of neurologic sequelae. In particular, the high incidence of neurologic morbidity (100%) in subjects with very poor vision suggested a clear correlation

The Impact of Proximity Forms on Knowledge, Learning and Innovation Processes in Sectors with Different Knowledge Bases: A Case Study of Eskişehir

Knowledge generation, knowledge access and learning are key factors in innovation processes. One of the factors that enables firms to access these factors is their proximity. Proximities which have both geographical and relational dimensions facilitate firms' access to knowledge and affects their innovation performance. Which types of proximities are more effective in which sectors has not yet been fully met with an answer in the literature. In this context, the aim of the research is to investigate the effects of types of proximities on knowledge, learning and innovation processes in the sectors operating in Eskişehir and whose knowledge bases are different from each other. In this research, in-depth interviewing technique was applied from qualitative research techniques. According to the findings obtained, the effect of types of closeness on innovation processes varies according to the sectors whose knowledge base is different. Based on these results, this study contributes both to the literature and to a new perspective on innovation policy

WOS: 000374665200006PubMed: 27800253Objectives: To present the outcomes of unilateral inferior oblique myectomy performed in patients with inferior oblique overaction due to superior oblique palsy. Materials and Methods: Twenty-seven eyes of 27 patients that underwent inferior oblique myectomy surgery for superior oblique palsy between 2002 and 2008 were included. Inferior oblique overaction scores (between 0-4) at preoperative, early postoperative (within 1 week after surgery) and late postoperative (earliest 6 months) visits were reviewed. Results: There were 12 male and 15 female patients. Eighteen were operated on the right eye, and 9 were operated on the left eye. The mean age was 15.62 +/- 13.31 years, and the mean follow-up was 17 +/- 11.28 months (range, 6-60 months). Patients who had horizontal component and V-pattern deviation were excluded. Preoperative and early postoperative inferior oblique overaction scores were 2.55 +/- 0.75 and 0.14 +/- 0.36, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.01). This improvement was maintained up to the late postoperative period. Conclusion: Due to its promising short-term and long-term results, inferior oblique myectomy can be the first choice of surgery for inferior oblique overaction due to superior oblique palsy
