Anukalpana 2.0: A Performance Evaluation Software Package for Akash Surface to Air Missile System

    Get PDF
Abstract : "An air defence system is a complex dynamic system comprising sensors, control centres, launchers and missiles. Practical evaluation of such a complex system is almost impossible and very expensive. Further, during development of the system, there is a necessity to evaluate certain design characteristics before it is implemented. Consequently, need arises for a comprehensive simulation package which will simulate various subsystems of the air defence weapon system, so that performance of the system can be evaluated. With the above objectives in mind, a software package, called Anukalpana 2.0, has been developed. The first version of the package was developed at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. This program has been subsequently updated. The main objectives of this package are: (i) evaluation of the performance of Akash air defence system and other similar air defence systems against any specified aerial threat, (ii) investigation of effectiveness of the deployment tactics and operational logic employed at the firing batteries and refining them, (iii) provision of aid for refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the multitarget defence, and (iv) exploring the possibility of using it as a user training tool at the level of Air Defence Commanders. The design specification and the simulation/modelling philosophy adopted for the development of this package are discussed at length. Since Akash air defence system has many probabilistic events, Monte Carlo method of simulation is used for both threat and defence. Implementation details of the package are discussed in brief. These include: data flow diagrams and interface details. Analysis of results for certain input cases is also covered.

    Performance Enhancement of Cisc Microcontroller

Increase in the speed of the system always demands for a major alteration on the existing system, which result in overall cost of the implementation of a system. Generally, CISC controllers are used for control operations, which have large number of instruction sets and take a large amount for processing due to its multiple sizes. For very high speed of controlling these controllers may fail to operate properly. The alternate solution is the RISC controllers, which are considerably faster than the normal CISC controllers. But these controllers have got various limitations as less instruction operations, complex register operation, costlier than the CISC controller etc. The only solution to this problem is the enhancement to the operational speed of a CISC controller, by enhancing the overall controller operation. Additionally, todays controller doesnt support the floating-point operation for signal processing. The enhancement of existing CISC controller by pipelining the overall operational flow of a CISC microcontroller and it includes the enhancement of UART. This research work is to be implemented using VHDL language and simulated using Active-HDL tool for functional verification

fMRI Investigation of Cortical and Subcortical Networks in the Learning of Abstract and Effector-Specific Representations of Motor Sequences

A visuomotor sequence can be learned as a series of visuo-spatial cues or as a sequence of effector movements. Earlier imaging studies have revealed that a network of brain areas is activated in the course of motor sequence learning. However these studies do not address the question of the type of representation being established at various stages of visuomotor sequence learning. In an earlier behavioral study, we demonstrated that acquisition of visuo-spatial sequence representation enables rapid learning in the early stage and progressive establishment of somato-motor representation helps speedier execution by the late stage. We conducted functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiments wherein subjects learned and practiced the same sequence alternately in normal and rotated settings. In one rotated setting (visual), subjects learned a new motor sequence in response to an identical sequence of visual cues as in normal. In another rotated setting (motor), the display sequence was altered as compared to normal, but the same sequence of effector movements were used to perform the sequence. Comparison of different rotated settings revealed analogous transitions both in the cortical and subcortical sites during visuomotor sequence learning ď‚ľ a transition of activity from parietal to parietal-premotor and then to premotor cortex and a concomitant shift was observed from anterior putamen to a combined activity in both anterior and posterior putamen and finally to posterior putamen. These results suggest a putative role for engagement of different cortical and subcortical networks at various stages of learning in supporting distinct sequence representations

Juvenile hormone analogues (JHA s) are known to prolong larval life in insects, and these have been tried for the improvement of silk production in the silkworm, Bombyx mori (L). In the cocoons and silk from 5thinstar B. mori treated with selected doses of methoprene and fenoxycarb, quantitative parameters like cocoon weight, shell weight, shell percentage, filament length and denier followed by qualitative charactersof the silk like non-breakable filament length, reelability, winding capacity, tenacity, elongation percentage, cohesiveness, sericin and fibroin contents were determined. The cocoon from 1.0 mg methoprene and 3.0fg/larvae treated on days one and two showed improved quantitative characters of cocoons followed by qualitative characters of the silk over the control. The use of juvenile hormone like methprene and fenoxycarb during summer season will help to get improved cocoon yiel

DESIGN MODIFICATION AND FEA ANALYSIS OF AXIAL FLOW COMPRESSOR

    Get PDF
An axial flow compressor is one in which the flow enters the compressor in an axial direction (parallel with the axis of rotation), and exits from the gas turbine, also in an axial direction. The axial-flow compressor compresses its working fluid by first accelerating the fluid and then diffusing it to obtain a pressure increase. In this thesis, an axial flow compressor will be designed and modeled in 3D modeling software Pro/Engineer. The present designs will be modified by changing the aspect ratios. The present used material is Chromium Steel, it will be replaced with Titanium alloy and Nickel alloy. Structural analysis will be done on all the compressor models using steel, titanium alloy and nickel alloy to verify the strength of the compressor using finite element analysis software Ansys. CFD analysis will also be done to determine the fluid behavior in Ansys Fluent

Background: Low back pain is a common musculoskeletal symptom caused by a variety of disorders that affect the lumbar spine. The most frustrating aspect in the treatment of low back pain is that there is “no magic bullets”. The objective of the study was to compare the efficacy and safety of flupirtine versus piroxicam in patients with back pain. Methods: This was prospective, open labeled, randomized, comparative clinical study conducted by the Departments Orthopedics and Pharmacology, BMC&H, Chitradurga. Study was conducted on 60 patients of either sex, aged above 18 years with low back pain. Assessments were done for Finger-to-Floor Distance (FFD), lumbar pain, Lasegue’s sign, tenderness of vertebral muscles, pain & sensory disturbance in lower limbs and response to therapy for efficacy. Parametric data was analyzed by t-test and proportions were compared using Chi-square test. Results: 74 patients were randomized to 2 groups of 37 each. Group I patients received flupirtine maleate 100 mg twice daily and Group II patients received piroxicam 20 mg twice daily for 14 days. 30 patients in each group completed the study and were analysed. On intergroup comparison, there was no statistical difference (p>0.05) in the efficacy parameters of finger-to-floor distance (FFD), lumbar pain, Lasegue’s sign, tenderness of vertebral muscles, sensory disturbance in lower limbs, VAS scores & global assessment of response to therapy. 13.3% in flupirtine group and 16.6% in piroxicam group reported adverse events.  Conclusions: Both flupiritine and piroxicam were equally effective but flupirtine was better tolerated than piroxicam.

A patient undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant faces various risk factors and has become the standard of care for congenital or acquired disorders of the hematopoietic system or with chemo-sensitive, radiosensitive or immunosensitive malignancies. Analyzing and classifying the data from past transplant can enhance the understanding of the factors leading to highest survival rates among the patients. Over the last few decades there has been tremendous use of technology in this field. Stem cell transplant remains a dangerous procedure as it requires significant infrastructure and a network of specialists from all fields of medicine. In this paper, we are using a classification algorithm known as Support Vector Machine to classify the patients who have undergone stem cell transplant with high odds of survival. We are also keeping track of information about the donors within the family and outside the family which has a direct impact in the prioritization of resources. Classification of this information is useful to create the need for a global perspective for all cell, tissue, and organ transplants and to reveal statistical structure with potential implications in evidence-based prioritization of resources. Machine-learning techniques proved useful in analyzing the correct data from various datasets as this techniques were previously been considered too complex to analyze. A dual objective configuration optimization formula is designed to optimize the shift-add network configuration to derive high-speed and occasional-complexity implementation from the MCM block for any given fundamental set plus a corresponding additional fundamental set. Within this paper, we advise a delay model according to signal propagation path for fine-grained analysis of critical road to MCM blocks. Within this paper, critical road to multiple constant multiplication (MCM) blocks is examined precisely and enhanced for top-speed and occasional-complexity implementation. A delay model according to signal propagation path is suggested for additional precise estimation of critical path delay of MCM blocks compared to conventional adder depth and the amount of cascaded full adders. Experimental results reveal that the suggested GA-based technique cuts down on the critical path delay, area, power consumption, area delay product and power delay product, over other existing optimization methods. An inherited formula (GA)-based strategy is further suggested to look for optimum additional fundamentals. Within the evolution procedure for GA, the DOCO is used to every looked additional fundamental set to optimize the configuration from the corresponding shift-add network
