Dysfunctions of drinking water supply systems and sewerage systems in the Land of Dorna. The aim of the present article is to study the drinking water supply systems and sewerage systems in the Land of Dorna. Following the analysis I noticed the uneven distribution of drinking water supply systems and sewerage systems, so the most developed axis of this view is the main axis that is oriented V-E. This axis connects the Land of Dorna with the neighboring regions, those of Transylvania, Maramureş and Moldova. The final part of the study consists of a series of proposed measures for the revitalization of the existing dysfunctions in the territory and to revive the repulsive areas (the north of the Land of Dorna and the northern part of the Călimani Mountains)

    Get PDF
The Land of Dorna represents a region with a climate specific to intermountain depressions and mountain areas by its geographic position, the characteristics of active subjacent surfaces and of dominant air-masses,. Climatic factors and phenomena play an important part in outlining the whole features of the territorial system and development of some particular tourist activities in this geographic region. The Land of Dorna has a lot of natural and anthropic resources that have taken many different shapes under the influence of some internal and external elements over the time. Therefore, our main goal is to identify and analyze the way in which climate and weather work on tourist activities in this part of the country

The Development of a Decision Support System for Wellbeing in the Danube River Basin

    Get PDF
The aims of the project are to develop a decision-making support tool – DeWOS; and to establish a permanent users network using a spin-off company, which will enable international cooperation and implementation of the software. DeWOS will encompass all existing relevant data on factors affecting wellbeing: environmental (water, air, soil, food quality and quantity), social-demographic (education, prosperity, migration, tourism and mobility, health services, safety) and economic factors (employment, industry, agriculture). The tool will provide a reliable valuation of the degree of wellbeing in the Danube River Basin enabling policy makers (from the municipality to the national level) and other stakeholders to assess the current wellbeing situation and simulate possible scenarios along with the feasibility and impacts of possible interventions

The Influence of Decision Makers in the Evolution of the Built Heritage in the Land of Dorna

The present paper aims to describe the role that decision makers and inhabitants have in the evolution of the built heritage from the regional system of the Land of Dorna. In order to achieve this goal I analyzed and systematized all data and information relevant for this study. Data from different sources provided by literature and from the field research led to the identification of the local characteristics of the regional system. The analysis has revealed a number of inconsistencies between an optimal situation of a territorial system and the current state of the Land of Dorna system in which a number of monuments lie in an advanced state of decay. The improper management of the built heritage of the Land of Dorna by the local actors has led to a series of territorial dysfunctions. The conclusions of this paper have highlighted the urgent need to implement a series of measures aimed to revitalize the built heritage in the Land of Dorna

The dynamics of the population of Târgu Lăpuş Microregion between 1990 and 2009. The paper presents the structures and dynamics of the population, approaching highly actual social issues, such as the process of population ageing or the phenomenon of population migration, since ancient times until now. The paper highlights a similar situation to the one existing at national level: the depopulation of Romanian villages because of the phenomenon of migration, the population ageing and the physical degradation of the villages. One wishes to revitalize the area by implementing development plans and changing the inhabitants’ views

Methods used to delimitate the mental space of the Land of Dorna. The aim of the research is to present a different approach used to delimitate the mental space of a territory, in this case of the Land of Dorna territorial system. In the first part of the study I realised a theoretical approach of the mental space concept and of the methods used in the research. In the second part I underline giving empirical examples the importance of the qualitative methods in the delimitation of the mental space of the Land of Dorna and in Regional Geography

Dysfunctions Within Spatial Microsystems. Case Study: Chinteni Commune

    No full text
This paper presents the main dysfunctions encountered in a microsystem, in this case, the one of Chinteni Commune, as well as the measures proposed for the revitalization of the analyzed area and the outlining of a functional space of reduced dimensions. The identification and the analysis of the dysfunctions were realized based on several differentiated indicators, in order to be able to apprehend, as well as possible, the reality of the territory. The encountered dysfunctions were classified into four groups: dysfunctions of the natural environment, dysfunctions of the human resource and of the settlement, economic dysfunctions and dysfunctions related to infrastructure. The conclusions have proved the necessity of implementing several solutions that will lead to a desirable state of the microsystem of Chinteni Commune

The importance of technical infrastructure in territory. Case study: drinking water supply in Dângău Mare, Cluj County. Water represents an important element in life. Accessibility, water quantity and quality show the standard of living of one community. This article presents a case study, the one of water supply in Dângău Mare from Cluj County. The purpose of this analysis is to reveal the benefits of applying some measures regarding water supply in the rural area, as well as the dysfunction abilities which derive from a bad management (eg. lack of sewage system). Dângău Mare lies near the Gilău Mountains and possesses important and rich resources of surface and underground waters varying under qualitative ratio. The hydrological resources of Dângău Mare are made up of river/rivulet networks (Mireş, Blidaru, Agârbiciu), phreatic waters and natural springs. The identification and delimitation of the Dângău Mare territory represents the first stage of this study, followed by the consultation of bibliographic and cartographic sources, field surveys, to obtain the qualitative and quantitative pieces of information. The second stage consists in the analyzation and classification of information, the integrated study of phenomena and elaboration of cartographic models using GIS. At the end of this study we have made the SWOT analysis to emphasize the characteristics of favourability, the anomalies and the opportunities to improve and develop the territory of Dângău Mare from Cluj County

Measuring Place Attachment to Călimani National Park (Romania) among Local Residents and Tourists. Preliminary Findings. Understanding the attachments that people develop for certain places is an interesting area of study, but with little attention in Romanian empirical research. This study introduces the concepts of place identity and place dependence in relation to a specific area within the local culture of the Land of Dorna. Starting from previous studies carried on western samples, a research instrument measuring the degree and content of place attachment was translated and adapted. 86 respondents (52 residents and 34 tourists) filled in the questionnaire. Comparing the degree of attachment, there was no significant difference among the two samples. However, local residents tended to display higher levels of place identity, while tourists displayed more emotional functionality to the study area. Place attachment is deeply embodied in the local culture. Due to the research design the generalization of the results is limited. However, this study may act as a starting point in researching other geographical mental spaces. The lands of Romania are unique social and cultural spaces with specific attachment patterns. Future studies should consider larger and representative samples in order to find additional patterns of attachment among residents and other individuals (e.g. tourists, visitors, new residents, other communities etc.)
