Erosividade das chuvas de regiao de Sete Lagoas, MG.

Os objetivos deste trabalho foram: calcular a erosividade das chuvas de Sete Lagoas, MG; comparar os valores da erosividade fornecidos por duas diferentes equações de cálculo de energia cinética; e fornecer equações que permitam estimar a erosividade por meio de parâmetros pluviométricos. Foram estudadas 285 chuvas Uan.l93 a dez.l95), das quais apenas 33% foram consideradas erosivas, correspondendo a 73% da precipitação ocorrida. Os índices de erosividade (EI3o e KE>25) apresentaram o mesmo comportamento ao longo do ano. Os valores obtidos para o fator R foram 5835 MJ mm (ha h ano):' e 116,3 MJ (ha ano):', para o EI30 e KE>25, respectivamente. As equações utilizadas para cálculo da energia cinética forneceram valores de erosividade muito semelhantes. O período de plantio e estabelecimento das culturas (outubro a dezembro) é o de maior risco quanto à erosão. Durante o período de março a agosto, a erosividade não sofre acréscimos consideráveis

R-symmetric Gauge Mediation and the MRSSM

This is an invited summary of a seminar talk given at various institutions in the United States and Canada. After a brief introduction, a review of the minimal R-symmetric supersymmetric standard model is given, and the benefits to the flavor sector are discussed. R-symmetric gauge mediation is an attempt to realize this model using metastable supersymmetry breaking techniques. Sample low energy spectra are presented and tuning is discussed. A compactness theorem for scalar-flat metrics on manifolds with boundary

Let (M,g) be a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary. This paper is concerned with the set of scalar-flat metrics which are in the conformal class of g and have the boundary as a constant mean curvature hypersurface. We prove that this set is compact for dimensions greater than or equal to 7 under the generic condition that the trace-free 2nd fundamental form of the boundary is nonzero everywhere.Comment: 49 pages. Electric field inversion asymmetry: Rashba and Stark effects for holes in resonant tunneling devices

We report experimental evidence of excitonic spin-splitting, in addition to the conventional Zeeman effect, produced by a combination of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction, Stark shift and charge screening. The electric-field-induced modulation of the spin-splitting are studied during the charging and discharging processes of p-type GaAs/AlAs double barrier resonant tunneling diodes (RTD) under applied bias and magnetic field. The abrupt changes in the photoluminescence, with the applied bias, provide information of the charge accumulation effects on the device.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
