Matrix Models, Monopoles and Modified Moduli

Motivated by the Dijkgraaf-Vafa correspondence, we consider the matrix model duals of N=1 supersymmetric SU(Nc) gauge theories with Nf flavors. We demonstrate via the matrix model solutions a relation between vacua of theories with different numbers of colors and flavors. This relation is due to an N=2 nonrenormalization theorem which is inherited by these N=1 theories. Specializing to the case Nf=Nc, the simplest theory containing baryons, we demonstrate that the explicit matrix model predictions for the locations on the Coulomb branch at which monopoles condense are consistent with the quantum modified constraints on the moduli in the theory. The matrix model solutions include the case that baryons obtain vacuum expectation values. In specific cases we check explicitly that these results are also consistent with the factorization of corresponding Seiberg-Witten curves. Certain results are easily understood in terms of M5-brane constructions of these gauge theories.Comment: 27 pages, LaTeX, 2 figure

The humification degree and the chemical nature of organic residues are essential factors controlling their degradation and nutrient release. To characterize the organic matrix, samples of sewage sludge, poultry, pig, cattle and quail manure, besides commercial compost, organic substrate and humic material were analyzed for: pH, electric conductivity, cation exchange capacity (CEC), water retention capacity, concentration of total N and mineral N, organic matter, total organic carbon (TOC) and the TOC fractions: humic acid C-fraction; fulvic acid C-fraction, water soluble C, labile-C and concentration and diversity of low mass molecular organic acids. The higher the humic acid C-fraction content, the greater was the CEC of the organic residues. Based on the humification index (HI), humification ratio (HR), the CEC and their respective critical values (19 %, 28 % and 67 cmol c kg-1), to separate decomposed material from material in decomposition, the pig, cattle, poultry and quail manures and the organic compost and sludge sewage 1 were classified as not completely decomposed residues. Labile-C was not appropriate to predict the bioavailability of the studied residues. The concentration of low molecular weight organic acids was higher in poultry and quail manure

We report on the results of a numerical simulation concerning the low-lying spectrum of four-dimensional N=1 SU(2) Supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory on the lattice with light dynamical gluinos. In the gauge sector the tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action is used, while we use the Wilson formulation in the fermion sector with stout smearing of the gauge links in the Wilson-Dirac operator. The ensembles of gauge configurations were produced with the Two-Step Polynomial Hybrid Monte Carlo (TS-PHMC) updating algorithm. We performed simulations on large lattices up to a size of 24^3 x 48 at ÎČ=1.6\beta=1.6. Using QCD units with the Sommer scale being set to r_0 = 0.5 fm, the lattice spacing is about a ~ 0.09 fm, and the spatial extent of the lattice corresponds to 2.1 fm. At the lightest simulated gluino mass the spin-1/2 gluino-glue bound state appeared to be considerably heavier than its expected super-partner, the pseudoscalar bound state. Whether supermultiplets are formed remains to be studied in upcoming simulations.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figures (eps), LaTeX2
