Phytohemagglutinins (РНА) are considered and utilized chiefly as antibodies in the field of experimental and аррlied medicine.Dujarrie de la Riuier and associates are the first to put in the problem as а matter of principle for the antigenic properties in the РНА and carry out experimental studies under this aspect. With renewed interest the question of the antigenic properties of РНА from Phaseolus vulgaris was raised after discovering its mitogenic abllity upon leukocytes of the human peripheric blооd in vitro. Pearmain and associates are the first to postulate the hypothesis that this phenomenon represents an immunological reaction of the leukocytes to the special РНА antigenic properties. We obtained РНА from the seeds of various types Phaseolus vulgaris, among which we chose the one with the most powerfully manifested mitogenetic properties. The РНА thus obtained represents purified globulin fractions, as already established bу the same authors in earlier investigations.Proving the antigenic structure of the РНА from Phaseolus vulgaris surges а particular scientific interest in the process of studying the essentials of its mitogenetic capacity. In our present work we give an account of the results btained from investigations on the antigenic structure of РНА of Phaseolus vulgaris. The experimentation was carried out in accordancewith the following plan: 1) determination of the antigenic structure of РНА from Phaseolus vulgaris, type Saxa and their identity with the antigens of РНА from the other sorts of this type; 2) determination of the antigens of РНА from Phaseolus vulgaris, sort Saxa and their related antigens in РНА obtained from the seeds of other sorts of the family Leguminosae - peas, soy-bean and hatchet.

In the past two decades the scientific interiest in antibodies of plant origin was substantially increased. This is due to the discovering of а vast number of specific phytohemagglutinins as well as to other interesting biological properties of the same, namely their capacity of stimulating the mitotic activity of certain cells, of inhibiting the action of certain -enzymes, of arresting the development of some tumourous cells in vitro etc. Moreover, plant antibodies represent very suitble, samples for carrying out а thorough study on immunological, biochemical and biophysical properties of the immune bodies in general. In the present we report the results of our investigation on certain immunological and biochemical properties of phytohemagglutinins, extracted from the seeds of the sort Phaseolus vulgaris (beans sort 4784, 4579, 4540), Soja hispida (soya bean sort Adams, soya sort “granular"), Pisum sativum (peas sort Ramonski and peas Peremiden), Lathirus aphaca (hatchet Taldjer)

Decentralised PI controller design based on dynamic interaction decoupling in the closed-loop behaviour of a flotation process

    Get PDF
An enhanced method for design of decenralised proportional integral (PI) controllers to control various variables of flotation columns is proposed. These columns are multivariable processes characterised by multiple interacting manipulated and controlled variables. The control of more than one variable is not an easy problem to solve as a change in a specific manipulated variable affects more than one controlled variable. Paper proposes an improved method for design of decentralized PI controllers through the introduction of decoupling of the interconnected model of the process. Decoupling the system model has proven to be an effective strategy to reduce the influence of the interactions in the closed-loop control and consistently to keep the system stable. The mathematical derivations and the algorithm of the design procedure are described in detail. The behaviour and performance of the closed-loop systems without and with the application of the decoupling method was investigated and compared through simulations in MATLAB/Simulink. The results show that the decouplers - based closed-loop system has better performance than the closed-loop system without decouplers. The highest improvement (2 to 50 times) is in the steady-state error and 1.2 to 7 times in the settling and rising time. Controllers can easily be implemented

Challenges of diagnostic exome sequencing in an inbred founder population

Exome sequencing was used as a diagnostic tool in a Roma/Gypsy family with three subjects (one deceased) affected by lissencephaly with cerebellar hypoplasia (LCH), a clinically and genetically heterogeneous diagnostic category. Data analysis identified high levels of unreported inbreeding, with multiple rare/novel "deleterious" variants occurring in the homozygous state in the affected individuals. Step‐wise filtering was facilitated by the inclusion of parental samples in the analysis and the availability of ethnically matched control exome data. We identified a novel mutation, p.Asp487Tyr, in the VLDLR gene involved in the Reelin developmental pathway and associated with a rare form of LCH, the Dysequilibrium Syndrome. p.Asp487Tyr is the third reported missense mutation in this gene and the first example of a change affecting directly the functionally crucial β‐propeller domain. An unexpected additional finding was a second unique mutation (p.Asn494His) with high scores of predicted pathogenicity in KCNV2, a gene implicated in a rare eye disorder, retinal cone dystrophy type 3B. This result raised diagnostic and counseling challenges that could be resolved through mutation screening of a large panel of healthy population controls. The strategy and findings of this study may inform the search for new disease mutations in the largest European genetic isolate
