    Laplacian Spectra of Semigraphs

Consider a semigraph G=(V,E)G=(V,\,E); in this paper, we study the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix of GG. We show that the Laplacian of GG is positive semi-definite, and GG is connected if and only if λ2>0.\lambda_2 >0. Along the similar lines of graph theory bounds on the largest eigenvalue, we obtain upper and lower bounds on the largest Laplacian eigenvalue of G and enumerate the Laplacian eigenvalues of some special semigraphs such as star semigraph, rooted 3-uniform semigraph tree.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figure

The total synthesis of the bioactive natural product (+)-Sch 642305 has been achieved from a readily available chiral building block using an RCM protocol to construct the key decalactone moiety; our approach is notable for its built-in flexibility and is diversity oriented

Dynamical Seasonal Prediction of Indian Summer Monsoon using AGCM: Weighted Ensemble Mean Approach

This study examines the fidelity of portable unified model's Atmospheric General Circulation Model in ensemble seasonal prediction of Indian Summer Monsoons of 1999-2004, driven by May SST anomaly persistent boundary conditions. Simple Ensemble-mean (EM) is inappropriate due to the presence of large deviation among the ensemble members in simulation of Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall (ISMR). Thus 'Weighted Ensemble Mean' (WEM) method is used in the present study. In WEM method, weights are determined for all ensemble members at each model grid point using daily precipitation anomaly to distinguish the most reliable members and outliers among the ensemble members. Ensemble-mean then obtained by weighted combinations of all ensemble members is referred as 'Weighted Ensemble Mean'. The WEM prediction of ISMR better matches with observations than EM in majority of the monsoons. Further, WEM estimated using monthly and seasonal mean weights are assessed with respect to WEM from daily mean weights. WEM with monthly/seasonal weighting is found to be similar to EM in most of the monsoons and hence daily weighting is more suited approach than monthly/seasonal weighting

Searching and fixating: scale-invariance vs. characteristic timescales in attentional processes

In an experiment involving semantic search, the visual movements of sample populations subjected to visual and aural input were tracked in a taskless paradigm. The probability distributions of saccades and fixations were obtained and analyzed. Scale-invariance was observed in the saccadic distributions, while the fixation distributions revealed the presence of a characteristic (attentional) time scale for literate subjects. A detailed analysis of our results suggests that saccadic eye motions are an example of Levy, rather than Brownian, dynamics.Comment: Accepted to Europhysics Letters (2011

    Catalytic Hydrogenation of Benzoic Acid

    Get PDF
Hydrogenation of benzoic acid using mono- and bimetallic catalyst of Ru, Pd, Co, and Re yielded different products. It was observed that 5% Ru/C was an active catalyst for hydrogenation of both aromatic ring and carboxylic group, while Pd/C catalyst hydrogenated only aromatic ring. Ru-Sn/Al2O3 is a chemoselective catalyst for hydrogenation of –COOH group of benzoic acid

Ontology Based Approach for Services Information Discovery using Hybrid Self Adaptive Semantic Focused Crawler

    Get PDF
Focused crawling is aimed at specifically searching out pages that are relevant to a predefined set of topics. Since ontology is an all around framed information representation, ontology based focused crawling methodologies have come into exploration. Crawling is one of the essential systems for building information stockpiles. The reason for semantic focused crawler is naturally finding, commenting and ordering the administration data with the Semantic Web advances. Here, a framework of a hybrid self-adaptive semantic focused crawler – HSASF crawler, with the inspiration driving viably discovering, and sorting out administration organization information over the Internet, by considering the three essential issues has been displayed. A semi-supervised system has been planned with the inspiration driving subsequently selecting the ideal limit values for each idea, while considering the optimal performance without considering the constraint of the preparation of data set. Background: Repeated and prolonged courses of antibiotics exposure have resulted in an increase in the prevalence of hospital acquired infections and antibiotic resistant profile. The objective of this study was to quantify the use of antibiotics in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) from rural tertiary health care centre. Methods: A hospital based cross-sectional study was conducted in the NICU of tertiary care hospital located in western Maharashtra, India during the year 2011-12. A total of 237 neonates admitted to NICU from October 2011 to March 2012 were enrolled in the study according to inclusion criteria of the study. Demographic details, data on antibiotic prescriptions (name, dose, frequency, route of administration) were recorded by utilizing pre-tested structured proforma. Results: A total of 3822 prescriptions were received by the neonates and commonly prescribed antibiotics were amikacin (75.53%), cefotaxime (43.34%) and ampicillin (31.33%) respectively. It was also noted that 50% of the drugs prescribed were in compliance with the national list of essential medicines 2011. The max, 68.75% of antibiotics prescribed were in generics forms however, 12.5% were prescribed in the form of fixed dose combinations. Conclusions: The revealed that 3rd generation cephalosporins and amikacin are most commonly used antibiotics in NICU
