    City of Mataram City is the center of government and economic activity. Urban-Village of DasanCermen, district of Sandubaya, has been selected as site of community service with consideration that there are several livestock-farmers group, namely: the cattle-farmers group, the Buras Chicken-Farmer Group, the Duck-Farmers Group, and the Fish- Farmers Group. The existence of these livestock-farmer groupshave been used as an educational tourism-site by the Urban-Village Government. The cattle-farmer group of “Beriuk Taker” is located close to the urban-village office and residential areas so that accumulated-manure disturbs environmental health. Therefore, the aim of this community service is to find solution problem of accumulated-livestock manure by processing it into organic fertilizer. In addition, this service also provides knowledge and skills about group-based business management to group committee.The methods have been used in this activity are extension service on implementation of cattle-business technology, training on processing organic fertilizers, and focus group discussions (FGD) on cattle-group management. The service results showed: (1) positively response of beneficiary group to the community service; (2) cattle-farmers capable and willing to apply technology about feed, cattleshed, and marketing;(3) cattle-farmers are skilled in processing of organic fertilizer by mutually work in every Sunday after zuhr prayer. The processing of organic fertilizer can produce 1 – 1.5 tons in 3 weeks. The temporary marketing is directed to ornamental-plant entrepreneurs around in the city of Mataram. It is hoped that the proceeds from the sale of fertilizers can be used to pay land rent to the local mosque management. With the support of the village government, the "Beriuk Taker" cattle farmer group can be used as a location for livestock education. They planned that the income from sale of organic fertilizerwould be used to pay land-rent to the local mosque committee.With the support of the urban-village government, the cattle-farmers group of "Beriuk Taker" can be used as site for livestock’educational-tourism

    Economic Performance of Cattle Fattening Business in West Lombok Regency

    This study aims to determine: (1) how much revenue fattening Bali cattle, (2) financial feasibility of the Bali cattle fattening, and (3) channel marketing of fattening Bali cattle in West Lombok. This study was conducted over three months from Mei to Juli 2016 Month with survey methods, the number of respondents 60 people. Analysis of the data used is the analysis of input-output, BC Ratio and Return On Investment (ROI). Specifically to determine the marketing channels used descriptive analysis. The results showed that (1) The average Farmer income of fattening Bali cattle Rp.6.466.058 per person and Rp. 1.616.514 per head. (2) Bali cattle fattening shoul be developed by the BC Ratio 1,128. ROI value of Bali cattle fattening is 12,84 %, higher than prevalling bank rate is curently7,5%. (3) The farmers in West Lombok Regency majority (63%) to market its livestock fatenned animals to market, the reason is more efficient in term of time. When livestock is sold, the farmer directly to buy feeder for subsequent fattening period

    Research on the evaluation of the spermatozoa quality of Brahma, Cochin and Bangkok chickens as the basis for the application of artificial insemination technology in native chickens has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the spermatozoa quality of Brahma, Cochin and Bangkok rooster as the basis for determining the spermatozoa dose for artificial insemination in local chickens. method research was used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments, that is: Brahma, Cochin and Bangkok rooster. Each treatment was repeated five times. Cement storage is carried out by inserting an artificial vagina into the cloaca of the rooster and stimulating it to climb the hen. The collected sperm were analyzed at the Animal Reproduction Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, Mataram University. The variables observed included motility, viability and morphology of spermatozoa. The results of studied that the spermatozoa motility of Brahma, Chicin and Bangkok rooster were 72 ± 2.74%. 74 ± 2.24% and 73 ± 2.74% (P> 0.05) respectively; The spermatozoan viability of Brahma rooster and Bangkok rooster was 99.2 ± 1.30%, 99.4 ± 0.55% and 99.2 ± 1.10% (P>0.05)respectively. The spermatozoan morphology of brahma rooster, chicin rooster and Bangkok rooster was 94.6 ± 2.30%, 94.4 ± 2.70% and 97.4 ± 2.07% (P> 0.05), respectively. Cochin rooster and Bangkok rooster respectively, 62.6 ± 7.92 x 107, 57 ± 5.83 x107 , and 65.2 ± 12.28 x107, respectively. The results of the study concluded that Brahma, Cochin and Bangkok rooster had good sperm quality and could be able to used in artificial insemination of Kampung hens
