Motor Imagery Classification Using Rough Neural Network
Brain Computer Interface is a system which provides a communication channel between the user and a computer without using the normal neuromuscular pathways. With BCI a user will be able to communicate with the mind. In a BCI system the brain activities are measured using EEG acquisition system. The acquired brain signals are analyzed and classified to identify the user’s intention. Motor imagery BCI works by making the user imagine their body parts without actually moving it. Prominent features are extracted from the acquired brain signals and the extracted features are classified to find the motor imagery performed by the user. This study uses datasets are provided by the Dr. Cichocki's Lab (Lab for Advanced Brain Signal Processing). We propose the Rough Neural Network (RNN) for Motor imagery classification. The experimental results show that RNN classifier gives higher accuracy than Backpropagation Classifie
Community Discovery in Mobile Blog
Abstract: Social network gains popularity due to its ease of use, as an application of Web 2.0. The study of networks is an active area of research due to its capability of modelling many real world complex systems. One such interesting property to investigate in any typical network is the community structure which is the division of networks into groups. Discovering communities in a social network environment is graph partitioning problem, which subdivides the entire graph into smaller partitions. Graph partitioning is believed as NP -hard problem, due to its complexity to split the number of vertices. We introduced the method of mutual accessibility to find communities in social networking environments. Existing work presents community discovery from blog posts. In this research, we discovered community structures from blogs which are posted by mobile devices such as mobile phones, specialized devices like personal digital assistants (PDA). We also applied the method called "mutual accessibility" for discovering communities. We presented the results obtained through our method. It is feasible that our method produced accurate identification of community structure in large complex networks
Tamil Character Recognition in Palm Leaf Manuscripts
Tamil characters are of historical significance. The shapes of the character and its writing continued to be changed by several reformers in each century until the period of the nineteenth century. The Tamil characters in the palm leaf manuscripts are based on the author's writing style and strokes in use at the time. Reading palm leaf manuscripts is a challenge for the modern generation who are unaware of the character strokes and writing patterns written in earlier times, and the younger generation neglects to read and understand the contents written in palm leaf manuscripts. To read Tamil palm leaf manuscripts it is necessary to remember the shapes of the character that has changed over time and to compare and recognize the characters. This research paper explains how to recognize the Tamil characters written in palm leaf manuscripts by computer. By this research, the Tamil characters can be compared with different strokes and shapes and the exact character can be recognized accurately and quickly
Tridax-Procumbens Extraction Impregnated Chitosan Film: Preparation Characterisation and Application
Chitosan and it’s derivatives has varity of advantages likes in industrial and biomedical fields. In recent years, research has been focused on biodegradable films of natural polymers like chitosan, starch, cellulose and etc. Such polymers may be proteins of plant and biological materials. Natural biopolymeric films with tridaxprocumben have potential advantage over the synthetic products since they are totally biodegradable from biological materials. Tridaxprocumbens extract is used for wounds healing as anticoagulant, antifungal and insect repellen. It is well known for application to treat infection and skin diseases in folk medicines, etc. The present study was focused on impregnation of tridax-procumbens extract into chitosan to develop a antimicrobial films. Further, they assessed was for physicochemical properties through x-ray diffraction and flourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy studies and antimicrobial activity
