Relative Hyperbolicity, Trees of Spaces and Cannon-Thurston Maps
We prove the existence of continuous boundary extensions (Cannon-Thurston
maps) for the inclusion of a vertex space into a tree of (strongly) relatively
hyperbolic spaces satisfying the qi-embedded condition. This implies the same
result for inclusion of vertex (or edge) subgroups in finite graphs of
(strongly) relatively hyperbolic groups. This generalises a result of Bowditch
for punctured surfaces in 3 manifolds and a result of Mitra for trees of

Fuselage shell and cavity response measurements on a DC-9 test section
A series of fuselage shell and cavity response measurements conducted on a DC-9 aircraft test section are described. The objectives of these measurements were to define the shell and cavity model characteristics of the fuselage, understand the structural-acoustic coupling characteristics of the fuselage, and measure the response of the fuselage to different types of acoustic and vibration excitation. The fuselage was excited with several combinations of acoustic and mechanical sources using interior and exterior loudspeakers and shakers, and the response to these inputs was measured with arrays of microphones and accelerometers. The data were analyzed to generate spatial plots of the shell acceleration and cabin acoustic pressure field, and corresponding acceleration and pressure wavenumber maps. Analysis and interpretation of the spatial plots and wavenumber maps provided the required information on modal characteristics, structural-acoustic coupling, and fuselage response
Singular value decomposition applied to compact binary coalescence gravitational-wave signals
We investigate the application of the singular value decomposition to
compact-binary, gravitational-wave data-analysis. We find that the truncated
singular value decomposition reduces the number of filters required to analyze
a given region of parameter space of compact binary coalescence waveforms by an
order of magnitude with high reconstruction accuracy. We also compute an
analytic expression for the expected signal-loss due to the singular value

UHB demonstrator interior noise control flight tests and analysis
The measurement and analysis of MD-UHB (McDonnell Douglas Ultra High Bypass) Demonstrator noise and vibration flight test data are described as they relate to passenger cabin noise. The analyses were done to investigate the interior noise characteristics of advanced turboprop aircraft with aft-mounted engines, and to study the effectiveness of selected noise control treatments in reducing passenger cabin noise. The UHB Demonstrator is an MD-80 test aircraft with the left JT8D engine replaced with a prototype UHB engine. For these tests, the UHB engine was a General Electric Unducted Fan, with either 8x8 or 10x8 counter-rotating propeller configurations. Interior noise level characteristics were studied for several altitudes and speeds, with emphasis on high altitude (35,000 ft), high speed (0.75 Mach) cruise conditions. The effectiveness of several noise control treatments was evaluated based on cabin noise measurements. The important airborne and structureborne transmission paths were identified for both tonal and broadband sources using the results of a sound intensity survey, exterior and interior noise and vibration data, and partial coherence analysis techniques. Estimates of the turbulent boundary layer pressure wavenumber-frequency spectrum were made, based on measured fuselage noise levels
Efficiency of dairy rations containing various quantities of grain
The dairy cow is particularly well adapted for consuming and utilizing large quantities of roughages, though she responds well to grain feeding. The relative quantities of roughage and grain that should be fed are usually determined by the physiologic effects and economic efficiencies of such rations when fed to dairy cattle.
One would hardly expect high.producing cows to maintain a high yield when consuming roughage alone, because such a ration is so bulky that it prevents the intake of sufficient nutrients for maximum production. And yet, very good results have been obtained in certain areas by such a system of feeding. Then, too, the nutrients of roughage crops are usually produced at considerably less cost than those of grain crops (17) (3). Furthermore, rough. ages are more plentiful on most farms than grain crops, especially in recent years when there has been a marked increase in the production of hay and pasture crops at some sacrifice of grain production. Under these conditions the advisability of supplementing roughage rations with grain becomes a question of interest to dairy farmers
AGC 226067: A possible interacting low-mass system
We present Arecibo, GBT, VLA and WIYN/pODI observations of the ALFALFA source
AGC 226067. Originally identified as an ultra-compact high velocity cloud and
candidate Local Group galaxy, AGC 226067 is spatially and kinematically
coincident with the Virgo cluster, and the identification by multiple groups of
an optical counterpart with no resolved stars supports the interpretation that
this systems lies at the Virgo distance (D=17 Mpc). The combined observations
reveal that the system consists of multiple components: a central HI source
associated with the optical counterpart (AGC 226067), a smaller HI-only
component (AGC 229490), a second optical component (AGC 229491), and extended
low surface brightness HI. Only ~1/4 of the single-dish HI emission is
associated with AGC 226067; as a result, we find M_HI/L_g ~ 6 Msun/Lsun, which
is lower than previous work. At D=17 Mpc, AGC 226067 has an HI mass of 1.5 x
10^7 Msun and L_g = 2.4 x 10^6 Lsun, AGC 229490 (the HI-only component) has
M_HI = 3.6 x 10^6 Msun, and AGC 229491 (the second optical component) has L_g =
3.6 x 10^5 Lsun. The nature of this system of three sources is uncertain: AGC
226067 and AGC 229490 may be connected by an HI bridge, and AGC 229490 and AGC
229491 are separated by only 0.5'. The current data do not resolve the HI in
AGC 229490 and its origin is unclear. We discuss possible scenarios for this
system of objects: an interacting system of dwarf galaxies, accretion of
material onto AGC 226067, or stripping of material from AGC 226067.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&A. 6 pages, 4 figure
Detection of an Optical Counterpart to the ALFALFA Ultra-compact High Velocity Cloud AGC 249525
We report on the detection at 98% confidence of an optical counterpart to
AGC 249525, an Ultra-Compact High Velocity Cloud (UCHVC) discovered by the
ALFALFA blind neutral hydrogen survey. UCHVCs are compact, isolated HI clouds
with properties consistent with their being nearby low-mass galaxies, but
without identified counterparts in extant optical surveys. Analysis of the
resolved stellar sources in deep - and -band imaging from the WIYN pODI
camera reveals a clustering of possible Red Giant Branch stars associated with
AGC 249525 at a distance of 1.640.45 Mpc. Matching our optical detection
with the HI synthesis map of AGC 249525 from Adams et al. (2016) shows that the
stellar overdensity is exactly coincident with the highest-density HI contour
from that study. Combining our optical photometry and the HI properties of this
object yields an absolute magnitude of , a stellar
mass between and , and an HI to stellar mass ratio between 9 and 144. This object has
stellar properties within the observed range of gas-poor Ultra-Faint Dwarfs in

The monoid of queue actions
We investigate the monoid of transformations that are induced by sequences of
writing to and reading from a queue storage. We describe this monoid by means
of a confluent and terminating semi-Thue system and study some of its basic
algebraic properties, e.g., conjugacy. Moreover, we show that while several
properties concerning its rational subsets are undecidable, their uniform
membership problem is NL-complete. Furthermore, we present an algebraic
characterization of this monoid's recognizable subsets. Finally, we prove that
it is not Thurston-automatic
