An Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of the Skeletal Frequencies of the Paraffin Hydrocarbons and the Far Infra‐Red Spectrum of Carbon Tetrachloride

The far infra‐red spectra of the paraffin hydrocarbons and of carbon tetrachloride have been investigated. The following bands were located: propane at 370.6 cm−1, n‐butane at 215 cm−1, and carbon tetrachloride at 315 cm−1, the latter showing isotope structure. The contours of the following near infra‐red bands for n‐butane were surveyed, and some fine structure was revealed: 1342.9 cm−1, 1295.6 cm−1, 1135.6 cm−1, 956.5 cm−1, and 740.0 cm−1. The assignment of the skeletal frequencies of vibration is made, and a theoretical analysis of the skeletal normal frequencies, assuming a valence potential for the molecules propane through pentane, is given.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/71089/2/JCPSA6-17-4-393-1.pd

ObhájenoThis thesis deals with obesity. In the thesis I tried to point out etiology, potential risks and complications of obesity, primary diagnosis, treatment and prevention. In the practical part I was interested in the prevalence of obesity in the country. I investigated the people who are prone to obesity, and how the inhabitants of the Czech Republic adhere to the principles of a healthy lifestyle and thereby reduce the prevalence of obesity. In the output into practice, I tried to use the advice of experts, and in collaboration with Dr. obezitoložkou. Lenkou Luhanovou, nutritional therapist Bc. Martinou Korejčkovou, DiS, head of the surgical department. MD University Hospital Pilsen. Vaclavem Karnosem, fitness coach Markem Chladem and patients suffering from obesity has created educational and motivational video for other obese individuals who are still fighting their weight

High body mass index is a proven risk factor for heart failure (HF) with either reduced and normal ejection fraction (EF). As primary prevention, and to prevent progression of chronic HF, it is pathogenetically evident to manage comorbidities as arterial hypertension, diabetes, obesity. Safety and efficacy of obesity treatment for HF with normal EF course is not studied well. There is still a discussion on the “obesity paradox” taken that body mass index increase is associated with lower risk of overall mortality. It is known that obesity is related to hypertrophy and dysfunction of the left ventricle (LV). Duration of morbid obesity course influences the reversibility of LV changes in response to weight reduction. It is important as well, that in obesity there is four-time growth of prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea that plays role in HF pathogenesis. The article provides review of recent publications on safety and efficacy of non-medication methods for obesity treatment in HF with normal EF

Reliability of visible GaN LEDs in plastic package

This work presents the results of extensive high-current accelerated aging tests carried out on blue and white InGaN/GaN LEDs packaged with the usual epoxy encapsulation (lamps) in order to investigate both package degradation and chip-related failure modes. As a result, the following package related failure modes were identified: (i) in blue lamps, high current levels and high junction temperatures, induce degradation of the epoxy material in contact with the heated device surface, leading to the formation of an opaque layer on the device surface; (ii) in white lamps tested at high current levels converting phosphors degradation has been observed, suggesting degradation of their white light converting efficiency; (iii) contact resistance increasing induced by die attach degradation has been observed in both white and blue lamps, finally (iv) plastic carbonization has been observed along the wire bonding suggesting power- or temperature-related cover plastic degradation that can contribute to the observed optical power degradatio
