Teleportation and Dense Coding with Genuine Multipartite Entanglement
We present an explicit protocol for faithfully teleporting an
arbitrary two-qubit state via a genunie four-qubit entangled state. By
construction, our four-partite state is not reducible to a pair of Bell states.
Its properties are compared and contrasted with those of the four-party GHZ and
W states. We also give a dense coding scheme involving our state
as a shared resource of entanglement. Both and
indicate that our four-qubit state is a likely candidate for the genunine
four-partite analogue to a Bell state.Comment: 9 pages, 0 figur
Heat Conduction in two-dimensional harmonic crystal with disorder
We study the problem of heat conduction in a mass-disordered two-dimensional
harmonic crystal. Using two different stochastic heat baths, we perform
simulations to determine the system size (L) dependence of the heat current
(J). For white noise heat baths we find that J ~ 1/L^a with
while correlated noise heat baths gives . A special case with
correlated disorder is studied analytically and gives a=3/2 which agrees also
with results from exact numerics.Comment: Revised version. 4 pages, 3 figure

Neutron activation analysis and assessment of trace elements in fingernail from residents of Tokyo, Japan
We report herewith the study of fingernail clippings obtained from the residents of Tokyo, Japan. A total of 18 participants with no health problems and occupational exposure to metals were recruited to provide fingernails samples for this study. Through the use of instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA), 18 elements (Ag, Al, As, Ca, Cl, Co, Cu, Fe, Hg, K, Mg, Mn, Na, S, Sb, Se, V, and Zn) were determined. The results showed that the toxic elements in the fingernails are in the lower range when compared to literature values. There were no chronic exposures to toxic elements such as As and Hg found. The level of Hg found is lower than that reported 20 years ago, possibly due to the strict regulation control in Japan on the release of Hg to the environment. The elements Se and Zn are found to be rather uniformly distributed among participants and are in agreement with results from other countries. There were no significant differences in elemental concentrations due to genders and smoking habits. The overall data from this study showed similar concentrations to those of healthy participants from other countries. Thus, the current data could represent the background level of elemental concentrations in fingernails of residents in Tokyo, which could serve as reference values for future study
A review of research on regulation changes in the Asia-Pacific region
In this study, we review the financial research on regulation in the Asia-Pacific region. We do this by analysing six leading regional accounting and finance journals – Abacus, Accounting & Finance, Australian Accounting Review, Australian Journal of Management, International Review of Finance and the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. We identify five main themes of regulation research relating to: (i) banking and financial institutions, (ii) markets and trading, (iii) corporate governance, (iv) disclosure and (v) accounting standard setting. Our paper synthesises the regional literature in these areas and provide some suggestions for future directions
Charge Offset Stability in Si Single Electron Devices with Al Gates
We report on the charge offset drift (time stability) in Si single electron
devices (SEDs) defined with aluminum (Al) gates. The size of the charge offset
drift (0.15 ) is intermediate between that of Al/AlO/Al tunnel junctions
(greater than 1 ) and Si SEDs defined with Si gates (0.01 ). This range
of values suggests that defects in the AlO are the main cause of the charge
offset drift instability
Age-Related Gene Expression Differences in Monocytes from Human Neonates, Young Adults, and Older Adults.
A variety of age-related differences in the innate and adaptive immune systems have been proposed to contribute to the increased susceptibility to infection of human neonates and older adults. The emergence of RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) provides an opportunity to obtain an unbiased, comprehensive, and quantitative view of gene expression differences in defined cell types from different age groups. An examination of ex vivo human monocyte responses to lipopolysaccharide stimulation or Listeria monocytogenes infection by RNA-seq revealed extensive similarities between neonates, young adults, and older adults, with an unexpectedly small number of genes exhibiting statistically significant age-dependent differences. By examining the differentially induced genes in the context of transcription factor binding motifs and RNA-seq data sets from mutant mouse strains, a previously described deficiency in interferon response factor-3 activity could be implicated in most of the differences between newborns and young adults. Contrary to these observations, older adults exhibited elevated expression of inflammatory genes at baseline, yet the responses following stimulation correlated more closely with those observed in younger adults. Notably, major differences in the expression of constitutively expressed genes were not observed, suggesting that the age-related differences are driven by environmental influences rather than cell-autonomous differences in monocyte development
