The title compound, C22H28N2O4, contains two independent centrosymmetric molecules (A and B). In the previous structure determination [Xia et al. (2007 ▶). Acta Cryst. E63, o259] both A and B were modelled as neutral molecules with the H atoms of the the O—H groups included in calculated positions. In this redetermination, the transferrable H atoms were located in difference maps and freely refined, indicating that one molecule (A) crystallizes in the neutral (nonzwitterionic) form and the other in the zwitterionic form, namely 6,6′-dimethoxy-2,2′-[hexane-1,6-diylbis(nitrilodimethylidyne)]diphenol–6,6′-dimethoxy-2,2′-[hexane-1,6-diylbis(nitriliodimethylidyne)]diphenolate (1/1). This finding is supported by significant differences in the C—O(H) (A) and C—O− (B) bond lengths. In the crystal, the zwitterionic molecules (B) are involved in intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming one-dimensional chains along [001]. Each independent molecule forms an intramolecular O—H⋯N (A) or N—H⋯O (B) hydrogen bond. In molecule B, one of the –CH2– groups is disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancies of 0.659 (8) and 0.341 (8)

A comparison between the efficacy of dydrogesterone and calcium plus vitamin D in improving women’s general health

Objective: The aim of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was to evaluate the effect of dydrogesterone and calcium plus vitamin D on young women's general health. Method: One hundred and eighty students studying at Shiraz University were recruited. Students completed the General Health Questionnaires (GHQ-28) prior to participation. They were then randomly assigned to take a tablet containing either 5 mg of dydrogesterone, 500 mg of calcium plus 200 mg of vitamin D, or a placebo twice daily from the 15th to the 24th day of their menstrual cycle for 2 consecutive cycles, and to complete the same questionnaires during both the intervention cycles. Results: The effects of dydrogesterone and calcium plus vitamin D on general health scores were similar during the first month of intervention (11.41±4.28, 12.23±3.76, respectively) (p>0.05) and both of them were more effective than placebo (16.69±3.28) (

Objective: To evaluate the results of photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) with mitomycin C in myopia correction after five years. Methods: This is a cross sectional study which included 145 eyes of 74 patients in 18 to 51 years age group that were undergoing Photorefractive keratectomy with mitomycin C using Allegretto Wave Eye-Q 400-Hz excimer laser platform in Markazi Eye Center, Tehran, Iran. All the surgical procedures were performed by the same surgeon. After five years follow-up evaluation including BCVA, UCVA, Refractive error measurement and external eye examination was performed. Results: The mean diopter of spherical equivalent before surgery was -3.40±1.73. The following findings were obtained after 5 years follow up visit: The mean spherical equivalent value: -0.08±0.40, the mean Log MARUCVA: 0.02±0.07, the mean Log MAR BCVA: 0.00±0.04. Conclusion: PRK is an effective, safe and predictable method used to correct myopia. The wave frontoptimized algorithm of the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q 400-Hz excimer laser platform demonstrated good refractive and visual results. Presence of variables such as gender, age and astigmatism before operation have no significant impact on the result of this operation. © 2016, Professional Medical Publications. All rights reserved

A Cross-cultural Comparative Study of Identity Status in Three Distinct Groups of Women: Iranian, Lebanese, and Lebanese Residents in Iran

The present study compares identity statuses among three groups of women: Iranian, Lebanese and Lebanese immigrants in Iran. The age of the samples varies from 22 to 33 years old. Persian and Arabic versions of The Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status (EOM-EIS-2) were distributed to 39 Iranian women, 40 Lebanese women residing in their home country and 39 Lebanese immigrant women in Iran chosen by convenience sampling. The data was analyzed using inferential statistical models related to independent groups, ANOVA and Post-Hoc tests. The findings showed no significant differences in identity statuses between the groups, although one sub-scale (ideological moratorium identity status) was significantly more prominent among Iranian women in comparison to local Lebanese. Furthermore, there was a significant negative correlation between one EOM-EIS subscale, interpersonal moratorium identity status, and the length of the immigrants’ residency. The findings of this study indicate the role cultural factors play in psychological structures, especially in identity formation

Measuring psychosocial exposures: Validation of the Persian of the copenhagen psychosocial questionnaire (COPSOQ)

Background: The effect of psychosocial work environment on personal and organizational aspects of employees is well-known; and it is of fundamental importance to have valid tools to evaluate them. This study aims to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Persian version of Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ). Methods: The questionnaire was translated into Persian and then back translated into English by two translators separately. The wording of the final Persian version was established by comparing the translated versions with the original questionnaire. One hundred three health care workers completed the questionnaire. Chronbach's alpha was calculated, and factor analysis was performed. Results: Factor analysis revealed acceptable validity for the five contexts of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha ranged from 0.73 to 0.82 in different contexts. Conclusion: This study revealed that the Persian version of COPSOQ is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring psychosocial factors at work

Cluster approximation solution of a two species annihilation model

A two species reaction-diffusion model, in which particles diffuse on a one-dimensional lattice and annihilate when meeting each other, has been investigated. Mean field equations for general choice of reaction rates have been solved exactly. Cluster mean field approximation of the model is also studied. It is shown that, the general form of large time behavior of one- and two-point functions of the number operators, are determined by the diffusion rates of the two type of species, and is independent of annihilation rates.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure
