Intestine-Specific, Oral Delivery of Captopril/Montmorillonite: Formulation and Release Kinetics
The intercalation of captopril (CP) into the interlayers of montmorillonite (MMT) affords an intestine-selective drug delivery system that has a captopril-loading capacity of up to ca. 14 %w/w and which exhibits near-zero-order release kinetics
Modification of epoxy system for industrial applications: Preparation and characterization
257-264Modified DGEBA epoxy resin system was
prepared using epoxy phenolic novolac (EPN), bisphenol A cyanate ester
prepolymer and polyether sulphone (PES). DGEBA epoxy resin modified with
cyanate ester prepolymer offers process advantage in making prepregs for the
preparation of structural composite materials. Further, the DGEBA epoxy resin
modified with EPN and PES along with cyanate ester prepolymer was fully
polymerised by curing at
200°C for 4 h. The cured resin was
characterised by FT-IR, thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetric
methods. The moisture resistance properties were studied for the cured resins.
The morphology studies were done for cyanate ester monomer, cyanate ester-epoxy
polymer and PES-modified cyanate ester-epoxy polymers. Carbon fibre laminates
were made based on PES-modified cyanate ester and epoxy polymer. Mechanical
properties of the laminates were evaluated
A review on the Pramehahara dravya of Bhavaprakash nighantu
In Ayurveda, Prameha is considered as one of the serious disease (maharoga) and is considered as difficult to cure disease (yapya roga). It is mainly characterized by the hazy urination and frequent micturition. The disease is comparable with the Diabetes Mellitus of the modern times. The treatments and medicine used for the Prameha in Ayurveda proved to be effective in the management of Diabetes since a long time. Classification of the Pramehahara dravya mentioned the classical Ayurvedic texts helps for the further research on the age old drugs and to provide better medicines for the future. Hence an attempt has been made to find out the plants mentioned as Pramehahara in the most authentic text of the Ayurveda, Bhavaprakash Nighantu, and to critically analyze them on the basis of their properties as mentioned. From the observations it has been noted that dravya having tikta, kashaya rasa, laghu, ruksha guna, katu vipaka play a major role in the management of the Prameha.

Crystallization and preliminary crystallographic analysis of β-hydroxyacyl ACP dehydratase (FabZ) from Plasmodium falciparum
The malarial parasite Plasmodium falciparum synthesizes fatty acids by the type II mechanism. In this cycle, the dehydration of the β-hydroxyacyl acyl carrier protein is catalyzed by FabZ. Purified FabZ has been crystallized using the hanging-drop vapour-diffusion and microbatch techniques. The crystals are orthorhombic, with space group I222 or I212121 and unit-cell parameters a=71.78, b=81.99, c=97.49 Å. A complete data set to a resolution of 2.5 Å has been collected under cryoconditions (100 K) using a MAR imaging-plate detector system mounted on a rotating-anode X-ray generator
