AER Auditory Filtering and CPG for Robot Control
Address-Event-Representation (AER) is a
communication protocol for transferring asynchronous events
between VLSI chips, originally developed for bio-inspired
processing systems (for example, image processing). The event
information in an AER system is transferred using a highspeed
digital parallel bus. This paper presents an experiment
using AER for sensing, processing and finally actuating a
Robot. The AER output of a silicon cochlea is processed by an
AER filter implemented on a FPGA to produce rhythmic
walking in a humanoid robot (Redbot). We have implemented
both the AER rhythm detector and the Central Pattern
Generator (CPG) on a Spartan II FPGA which is part of a
USB-AER platform developed by some of the authors.Commission of the European Communities IST-2001-34124 (CAVIAR)Comisión Interministerial de Ciencia y Tecnología TIC-2003-08164-C03-0

Evaluating the response of coral assemblages to different disturbances is important because variations in species composition may have consequences for ecosystem functioning due to their different functional roles in coral reefs. This study evaluates changes in diversity, structure and composition of coral assemblages of the coral reefs of two national parks in the northern sector of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System spanning the period from 2006 to 2012, just after the impact of two hurricanes in the area. Coral assemblages in the Cancún National Park included fewer species and lower live coral coverage ( < 15%) than those recorded in Cozumel. In the Cancún National Park, the species with the highest coral cover was Porites astreoides (more than 40% relative cover), and no significant temporal changes were observed in live coral cover and species composition. On the other hand, in the Cozumel National Park the dominant species were Agaricia agaricites, Siderastrea siderea and Porites astreoides, and the coral reefs showed an increase in live coral cover from 16% in 2006 to 29% in 2012. The dynamics of coral assemblages differed between the two parks: while there is an apparent stability in the current composition of the Cancún reefs, the Cozumel reefs show an increase in the abundance of the aforementioned dominant species. However, it is possible that the population characteristics of the species that dominate the coral assemblages in both national parks, such as those of fast population growth and of small colony size, do not entirely fulfill the main function of accretion and habitat heterogeneity, and more research is therefore needed to test this hypothesis.
The project consists of the creation of a robotic arm controlled remotely through a
brace developed by Thalmic Labs, which can read the biopotentials of the muscles
of the limb of the users. This project aims to create an economic alternative to noninvasive
active prostheses that exist today. Our prosthesis can perform the same
functions but at a so much affordable price. To perform all the functions of a normal
joint, the arm has several elements. Strings that simulate tendons and allow the
movement of the fingers, gears that allow the rotation of the wrist and motors,
which can generate movement based on the data extracted from the bracelet. The
bracelet is responsible for transmitting information from the hand to the robotic arm
through a wireless module that connects it with the computer, where the signal that
extracts the bracelet goes through a filtering process to keep the information that
interests us and Transmit it through the USB port to a microcontroller, which will be
in charge of moving the engines according to the signals received. To avoid errors
in the measurement of the sensors, the information received from the bracelet is
trained in the computer using a Neural Network architecture before sending the
information to the robotic arm.
2018 Sub-challenge Gastrointestinal Image ANAlysis.
This work exposes the methodology carried out for the application of a Deep Learning
model in the context of automatic polyp detection and its location in colonoscopy
videos. Different methods were proposed as well as the different techniques that can
be applied on the given dataset provided by the 2018 Sub-challenge Gastrointestinal
Image ANAlysis. We chose the Faster Regional Convolutional Neural Network method
to solve this problem. We used ResNet50 in the first part of this algorithm to extract
the main image features. We applied hard negative mining and data augmentation
techniques to increase the dataset used in the training of the model. We also used
hard negative mining to get a better learning of background, reducing false negatives
and improving the performance
Psychological factors related to time to help-seeking for cancer symptoms: A meta-analysis across cancer sites.
The time patients wait before seeking help for cancer symptoms is among the most important factors contributing to diagnostic delays in cancer. We reviewed the association between time to help-seeking and three psychological factors: symptom knowledge, symptom interpretation, and beliefs about cancer (Prospero review protocol CRD42018088944). Forty-seven studies published between 1990 and 2019 met the inclusion criteria, providing data on 44,961 participants from 22 countries concerning seven cancer sites. A series of random-effects meta-analyses and meta-regressions were conducted. Better symptom knowledge was related to lower odds of a long help-seeking interval in both studies with healthy populations (OR = .73, 95% CI [.63, .84], k = 19) and with patients (OR = .40, 95% CI [.23, .69], k = 12), and so was interpreting experienced symptoms as cancer-related (OR = .52, 95% CI [.36, .75], k = 13 studies with patients). More positive beliefs about cancer (i.e., that cancer is treatable) were associated with lower odds of a long help-seeking interval in both studies with healthy populations (OR = .70, 95% CI [.52, .92], k = 11) and with patients (OR = .51, 95% CI [.32, .82], k = 7). Symptom knowledge, interpretation, and beliefs about cancer are likely to be universal predictors of help-seeking. Theoretical models of patient help-seeking and interventions aiming to reduce delays should incorporate these factors
tumores existentes: benignos y malignos.
Breast cancer is one of the most frequent causes of mortality in women. With the
arrival of the artificial intelligent, the automatic detection of tumors in mammograms
has become a big challenge and can play a crucial role in improving medical diagnosis.
In this work, a computer-aided diagnosis system based on Deep Learning techniques,
specifically in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), is proposed. The system is
divided into two parts: first, a preprocessing is performed on mammograms taken
from a public database; then, the CNN extracts features of the preprocessed images
to finally classify them accordingly to the type of tissue. The results of this study
show that the system has an accuracy of 80% in the classification
Deep learning as a tool for improving efficiency the of glial tumor diagnosis

detection and diagnosis. Moreover, regional object interest and other related
algorithms have become common place for improving the quality of the classification.
Opening a wide field of interest and research. In this work, a deep neural network
based on a new pooling strategy and image segmentation (Fuzzy c-means) [1] is
proposed for glial tumor in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images by using
Region of Interests methods as Spatial Pyramid Pooling. The power of SPP-net is the
possibility of working with feature maps from images with different sizes, and then
subsampling these features to generate a fixed-length set and to implement finally
