Identification of Financial Factors in Economic Fluctuations
We estimate demand, supply, monetary, investment and financial shocks in a VAR identified with a minimum set of sign restrictions on US data. We find that financial shocks are major drivers of fluctuations in output, stock prices and investment but have a limited effect on inflation. In a second step we disentangle shocks originating in the housing sector, shocks originating in credit markets and uncertainty shocks. In the extended set-up financial shocks are even more important and a leading role is played by housing shocks that have large and persistent effects on output.publishedVersio

Heat Transfer by Evaporation in Capillary Porous Wire Mesh Structures
Results of an experimental study on heat transfer in a flooded capillary wire mesh structure with variable mesh sizes in contact with a heated flat surface allow classification of the dominant heat transfer mechanisms in four areas, dependent on the mesh size and the temperature of the heated surface. Freon 11 and Freon 113 were used as test fluids. The mesh sizes of the capillary wire mesh structures, consisting of two to nine layers of stainless steel or phosphor bronze wire meshes, ranged from 38 mesh to 198 mesh. A Nusselt correlation for two areas could be determined with the help of the similarity theorem, which reproduces the experimental results with an accuracy of about ±15 percent
