Non-Formal Education: A Manual on Organizing Workshops for Training Rural Facilitators
The objective of this manual is to provide guidance for those persons involved in the Nonformal Education Project who will be organizing training workshops for rural facilitators for nonformal education purposes. Since this document is a by-product of a workshop organized for those members of the Center for International Education who were leaving different West African sites during summer in order to conduct rural facilitator training workshops, it is limited in its scope. This is not a workshop report, however.
The usefulness of this manual mainly lies in treating it as a possible way of organizing a workshop for facilitator training. Hence it should be comprehended as a process. Details regarding the subject-matter, content, timing, etc. should be looked at as something which demands necessary revisions, additions and deletions. Such adjustments will be determined by several situation factors such as geographical location, audience, human and material resources available, etc. This manual presents just one case study.
There are no specific section(s) devoted to bibliography. This is because necessary references have been integrated within the text. For all those interested in the format of the workshop out of which this manual emerged, an appendix on the tentative schedule of the workshop has been included at the end of the manual
Self-assembling behaviour of Pt nanoparticles onto surface of TiO2 and their resulting photocatalytic activity
In the present study, self-assembling behaviour of guest nanoparticles (platinum) onto the surface of host support (titanium dioxide) during photodeposition process as a function of solution pH has been explored in detail by means of transmission electron microscope (TEM). The photocatalytic activity of the resulting bimetallic nanoassembly (Pt/TiO2) was evaluated by studying the degradation of two organic pollutants viz. triclopyr and methyl orange. Microscopic studies revealed that the deposition and/or distribution of Pt nanoparticles onto the surface of TiO2 were strongly guided by the ionization state of support which in turn was regulated by the solution pH of photodeposition process. A direct relationship between the solution pH of deposition process and the photocatalytic activity of resulting bimetallic catalyst has been observed. A mechanism based on the interparticle interaction between TiO2 and hydrolytic products of metal ions has been proposed for the differences in the photocatalytic activity of the resulting nanocomposite
The impact of human capital outsourcing on human capital management practices in Karachi pharmaceutical industry
Purpose: The aim of this research is to examine relationship between Human Capital Management (HRM) and Human Resource (HR) Outsourcing in the Pharmaceutical sector. The specific objective is to find out that how important is HRM for an Organization to perform its operations more efficiently, and at what level Human Resource Outsourcing is affecting it. Literature review: Literature review shows that HR outsourcing has positive impact on HRM for an Organization to perform its operations more efficiently. Methods: In order to conduct this research the methodology that has been used is quantitative in nature and closed ended Questionnaire was used to collect data. The universe of study was the employees of Pharmaceutical industry in Karachi Pakistan. The responses of each respondent were thoroughly analyzed by using SPSS software, and the results show that there is a negative relationship between the Human Capital Management (Gaining Knowledge, Current Trend of Business Environment, Organization Managing Their Human Asset and Practices and Policies Regarding Human Resource) and HR Outsourcing. Conclusions: It is concluded that all Independent Variables have the strongest Positive correlation with each other. There are lots of constraints, which any organization faces in terms of time, finance and, in some cases factors like strategic focus.Human Capital Management, Karachi, Pharmaceutical, Outsourcing
Sub-wavelength position measurements with running wave driving fields
A scheme for sub-wavelength position measurements of quantum particles is
discussed, which operates with running-wave laser fields as opposed to standing
wave fields proposed in previous setups. The position is encoded in the phase
of the applied fields rather than in the spatially modulated intensity of a
standing wave. Therefore, disadvantages of standing wave schemes such as cases
where the atom remains undetected since it is at a node of the standing wave
field are avoided. Reversing the directions of parts of the driving laser
fields allows to switch between different magnification levels, and thus to
optimize the localization.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Analysis of One-Dimensional Advection–Diffusion Model with Variable Coefficients Describing Solute Transport in a Porous medium
Hanbury Brown-Twiss effect and thermal light ghost imaging
We show that the essential physics of the Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT) and the
thermal light ghost imaging experiments is the same, i.e., due to the intensity
fluctuations of the thermal light. However, in the ghost imaging experiments, a
large number of bits information needs to be treated together, whereas in the
HBT there is only one bit information required to be obtained. In the HBT
experiment far field is used for the purpose of easy detection, while in the
ghost image experiment near (or not-far) field is used for good quality image.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
High order finite volume weighted essentially non-oscillatory scheme for solving the isentropic two-phase flow model
Efficiency of South Asian Capital Markets:An Empirical Analysis
In last few years, the Asian financial crises had grabbed the attentions of researchers towards South Asian capital markets. This paper is an attempt to test the weak form efficiency of select South Asian capital markets; India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan over the sample period spanning from January 2003 to December 2011. The application of dickey-fuller (ADF) and Philip Perran (PP) unit root test provide the evidence that these markets are not weak form efficient which have significant impact on these countries’ economies. On the other hand, such inefficiency disturbs the allocation of national resources for development projects. This type of phenomena encourages male practices speculative moves in market place. Keywords: South Asia, week for efficiency and unit root tests
Process for making superconducting wires
A high temperature superconducting wire and an improved process of making the same is provided where a metal wire comprising Y, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, or Lu is oxidized and the oxidized metal wire is then coated with molten barium-copper-oxide. The process allows high-quality superconducting wire to be easily and continuously fabricated
