Determining of stock investments with grey relational analysis

    No full text
Selecting stock is important problem for investors. Investors can use related financial ratios in stock selection. These kind of worthy financial ratios can be obtained from financial statements. The investors can use these ratios as criteria while they are selecting the stocks. Since dealing with more than one financial ratio, the investing issue becomes multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem for the investors. There are various techniques for solving MCDM problems in literature. In this study grey relational analysis (GRA) is used for ordering some financial firms' stocks which are in Financial Sector Index of Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE). Besides, because of the importance of criteria weights in decision making, three different approaches - heuristic, Analytic Hierarchy Process, learning via sample - were experimented to find best values of criteria weights in GRA process. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd

Granger nedensellik testinin kriz dönemleri sonrası sonuçlarına göre, S&P 500 endeksi genel etkileyici, döviz kuru ise endekslerden etkilenen konuma geldiği gözlenmiştirTürkiye was influenced 1994 and 2001 currency and 1997 Asian crisis. In this study, we focused on granger causality relation between YTL/USD exchange rate, ISE 100 index and S&P 500 index by using 1990-2007 data for each instrument. There is Granger cause from ISE 100 and S&P 500 indexes to exchange rate for the period of 1990-2007. Bidirectional Granger cause has exists between exchange rate and ISE 100 index. S&P 500 index has unidirectional Granger cause of ISE 100 index and exchange rate. However, only S&P 500 index is usually common effective without being effected during all periods and crises except 1994 crises. According to Granger causality tests after the crises period, S&P 500 index common effective and exchange rate is affected by the indexes

Measuring and evaluating the satisfaction level of the individuals who benefit from healthcare services is very important and may assist improving healthcare service quality. Managers and researchers must know the details of healthcare service quality dimensions weak points, and to which degree the weaknesses extend for that institution. The Servqual scale is commonly used in the healthcare service quality assessment. This study aims to measure/evaluate ongoing healthcare service quality and patients satisfaction via Servqual scale with respect to outpatients’ view. In this study, a survey based on the Servqual scale is implemented on a hospital in Zonguldak/Turkey, for evaluating perceived and expected healthcare service quality. According to the results, healthcare service quality of the Servqual scale dimension grades differs from each other in at least two dimensions out of five. Tangibles, one of the Servqual dimension is measured as the highest. Results suggest that patients demographically differentiate healthcare service quality in terms of age, income, and service type, but not for gender, marital status, educational level, and profession. Moreover, reliability is observed as the most determinant dimension for outpatients’ satisfaction. © 2017, © 2017 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group

Banks’ performances are important not only for the stability/growth of the firms and economic situation of a country; it is also important for the stability/growth of the world economy. The aim of this study is to determine the priorities of CAMELS dimensions with respect to bank performance via AHP method and to present the results as an information to researchers, investors and decision-makers. Furthermore, this study shows the feasibility of many statistical hypothesis tests by separately generated priority series from expert’s views based on performance and bankruptcy risk of banks. CAMELS, used for bank performance appraisal, is a financial ratio analysis comparing the ratios of banks with the industries. Along with evaluating the determined priorities of CAMELS dimensions based on performance of banks, the differences of the views between the priorities based on risk of bankruptcy and performance of banks, the view differences according to the demographic characteristics of the experts, etc., are also examined. According to analysis, “Asset” (24.75%) is the most important dimension of CAMELS, and then “Earnings” (19.16%), “Liquidity” (18.54%) and “Management” (17.68%) are thought as following important dimensions with respect to bank performance. Dimensions of “Sensitivity to market risk” (11.11%) and “Capital” (10.03%) are observed as weak dimensions. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2018

Evaluation of Cybercrime Economy via MCDM and Decision Tree Approaches: The Case of Zonguldak

One of the most important economic problems that developed/ing countries are facing today is the informal economy. Unregistered economic activities are generally defined as all economic activities that are not included in national accounts. The informal economy has an informal structure as well as a criminal structure. Cyber-attack/s (CA) are increasing day by day as an important part of the informal economy due to the economic effects they produce. Credit card fraud, emptying a bank account, cryptolocker viruses that can be used to encrypt data on the user’s computer, the use of websites and e-commerce sites such as DDOS attacks, espionage, information smuggling, and many new computing crimes can be given as examples in this field. This study aims to evaluate the relations/determiners of CA-damages and information technology (IT) investments to firms’ economics and present the findings to the researchers/decision makers. In this sense, IT investments and CA/CA costs to 321 Zonguldak firms having more than 20 employees in 2016 have been surveyed by Turkish Statistical Institute. According to CA-damage severity indexes generated via TOPSIS, statistical methods and decision tree approaches supported by regression analysis are used in the analysis. According to the analysis, CA-damage increased as IT investments increased. IT investments dimensions’ existence of “website/mobile applications” and “IT policy implementation” accepted the main CA-damage determiners. Meanwhile, the firm’s less usage of firewalls/IPS/IDS indicates that CA are not fully understood, and the security policies’ application is also important along with its preparation. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG

The first detection of anti-anaplasma phagocytophilum antibodies in horses in Turkey [Türkiye’de atlarda anti-anaplasma phagocytophilum antikorlarının ilk tespiti]

Anaplasma phagocytophilum, the causative agent of equine granulocytic anaplasmosis, affects several species of wild and domesticated mammals, including horse, besides human. In Turkey, there were many reports on A. phagocytophilum circulation among cattles, sheep, dogs, mice, humans, except horses. In this study, we aimed to inquiry whether A. phagocytophilum were circulating among the horse population or not. For this purpose, 105 mare horse blood sera were examined for the presence of Anti-Anaplasma phagocytophilum IgG antibodies by IFAT. The seroprevalance rate of 8.57% horse sera were found to be positive. This was the first report about the presence of anti-A. phagocytophilum antibodies in horses in Turkey.. © 2018, Veteriner Fakultesi Dergisi. All rights reserved
